I have 1 IA from high school. I was in a dual credit class in 2006 and was put on academic probation for low gpa. I figured that wasn't too bad and it was ages ago.

However, I was reading a post on IA's and I almost forgot that I had a second IA from undergrad - alcohol possession in my dorm room which resulted in a semester of disciplinary probation (2009). Never had any further issues, and I don't have a criminal record.

Am I overthinking this? I'm already a nontrad fighting an uphill battle. Will an interviewer/ADCOM care about two relatively minor IA's? Or am I just being paranoid?

I highly doubt it. Just don't screw up again.

What happened in high school stays in high school.

The second is so long ago that it's not a worry. Most Adcom members were young and stupid once too.

Your high school IA will not be in the record and no one cares.

Alcohol IA is not a big deal, but it might come up in your interviews. Own it up, explain it, and it'll be fine. Avoid applying to a few schools that might look down at this incident.

I myself also had an IA similar to yours, if not worse. I owned it up and explained it in my application. It came up only in one of my interviews, and I believe it worked in my favor. Other schools didn't even bother to bring it up.

Medical schools just want to see you as a responsible individual who is capable to learn from your past mistakes. Who has not have some sort of past, especially something that is stupid and minor? Good luck!

You drank alcohol underage and had it in your dorm room against the RULES. You will never be a physician at all, let alone a good one. I'd never let you touch my family.
I just have one question for you, "How dare you?"

lol

This is a good example of a case where being a nontrad really works for an applicant. You've had enough time between the (relatively minor) IA and your application to show that it isn't a pattern of behavior. And no one cares about high school, so don't sweat that.

1st is definitely not an issue assuming you kept a good GPA throughout college (upward trend helps a lot too).

Not sure about the 2nd IA. I had a college friend who had one as an engineer. Didn't affect his job prospect much. Although he was a near 4.0 student all 4 years.

Thank you for your reply, Goro! Appreciate it! I should've clarified on the high school dual credit issue. It was a dual enrollment college class taken senior year of high school. Unfortunately my CC transcript says "scholastic probation" for spring 2006. It was so long ago that I hope no one would hold it against me... Felt kind of ridiculous typing that. 10 years ago already.

Nine years ago (almost 10), most of my OMSIs were in junior high school! So yes, that's a loooong time ago, academically.
