2 II's at this point in the game; is this likely the end of it?

I got my first one about a month ago from one of my state schools, and my second one a few days ago from one of my relatively reach schools. I also got my first pre-interview rejection from an in-state private school. I'm happy with how this has turned out so far since I know a lot of people don't get any II's at all, but at this point in the cycle, am I not likely to get many (if any) more? I applied to 19 MD schools, had my files complete by late August at latest, several being complete in mid August. My basic stats are 3.65c/3.55s/36.

Yeah, I know, I'm likely being neurotic about this, but a little reassurance (or brutal honesty) from people in the same boat is valuable stuff.

Brutal honesty- people like you make applicants like me (applied to 40 schools with no IIs yet) want to scream.

You're being overly neurotic, yes, and there's no way to know if the interviews are done coming. Wait and see. I received my final interview invitation in March of 2012, interviewed in April 2012, was accepted in May 2012, and matriculated that same August. However, there is no way to know if you will be in this same situation.

I got IIs as late as Oct 25th last year. There's still time.

There is no way of knowing. I have the same GPA as you but a sub-30 MCAT and I've also received 2 IIs (one IS private and one OOS public). My best guess is that it depends a lot on what the rest of your app looks like.

I think things are just taking a lot longer this cycle than last, so don't use that as a frame of reference.

There's still a lot of time left and remember it only takes one school. Two is still > 1. Even as youre standing, you have a good shot of getting in.

Depending on the school, the interview process can go all the way through April. I'm had one so far and am still waiting on 14 other schools. Sit tight and try to relax.

I'm in the same boat, 2 IIs so far.
I think you can realistically expect to receive ii until January, so let's hang in there.

I'm in a very similar situation: similar GPA but lower MCAT with 2 interview invites so far (and many rejections and a few holds) and being complete in August, so I'm also feeling anxious about only having 2 invites for the rest of this cycle.

I think it's making me feel more sane when I tell myself to be happy with my 2 interviews because some people don't have any yet and if I get more, it'll be a nice surprise (as opposed to having expectations that I "should" have more by this time). That way, I can focus on rocking the interviews I do have and I continue living my life as opposed to feeling as though my life is stuck in limbo, stressing out if I'll get into a school this cycle. Hang in there and try not to let this cycle control your life 🙂

I had an interview February 5th one year with them calling me in December.

His stats are great but they're not reassuring when you consider that he's only gotten two secondaries so far. It's pretty late and that's what's concerning. If I were in his position, I'd be freaking out too. My comment probably didn't help calm the OP, but that's my honest opinion.

Dude, an II = Interview Invite. We aren't living in Ancient Rome here.

Before I started my app cycle I didn't realize it meant interview invite either..

Finally got suspicious when I began reading posts about how excited people were to receive secondaries (II).

Probably. I say this as someone with two MD interview invites, but with lower stats.

Just remember-- all it takes is one acceptance. Knock your two interviews out of the park and send updates and letters of intent if they allow it.

When I applied a couple years ago. I received interviews all the way till February so no need to fret. I will mention though that had you been complete earlier like July, you would have been holding onto a lot more interviews right now.

😕

I honestly have zero idea how II stands for secondary. II in Roman numerals = 2, so maybe that's it? Your response makes no sense

Yes, they think that II stands for 2° as Roman numerals. This isn't the first time it's happened.

Ok so I don't want to be the downer in this whole thread, but something I've done with my neuroticism from receive zero IIs so far, has been to check the profiles of all those great, reassuring people who say something like "I didn't get my first II till November!" or something along those lines.
I think: yes! Encouragement!
Then I think: if it went so well then why are they posting on this thread...?
So I check out said profile (because I have SO MUCH free time from all the interviews that I'm not going to, of course), and I see that they happen to be reapplying.
So I'd love to think that it's still early. Any if you applied in September and knew all along you were destined for medical school and prepped accordingly, then it probably is still early.
But I personally applied in early August. Suffice it to say, I'm making plans for next year.

What are the chances of getting in with two waitlists? I got waitlisted by two schools I interviewed at.

It really depends on the school. Most state and top tier schools have pretty low turn over rate. Did the school tell you where you are at on the waitlist? I mean if you are high up on the WL obviously you have a greater chance.

I honestly think most schools just throw all non super applications comoplete after mid August into the trash lol

for one school there is no ranking so i have no idea how they decide. for the other school they rank in march. i m so terrfied because some people who have been waitlisted for 4 different schools had to reapply. I really really do not want to retake my MCAT either or take the 2015 one. i hate to use this word but IM SO DESPERATE!
