Hey guys,
Here are 4 PAT questions that I need some help with. All of the questions came from Kaplan's PAT Section Test B from their online course.

You should be able to see the answer if you right click the image and see letter indicated in the file name before saving.

What were your guesses?

I don't know about the keyhole ones. For the first one, I thought it could be either D or E. For the second one, I thought it could be either A or E. I don't know how they got their answers for those...

For TFE, you can kind of eliminate choices by line counting. For the first one, line counting narrows down the options to A or D. In the end view, there's a dashed line that corresponds to the left shorter half in the front view. You have to be able to visualize it, but the way that the end view shows it, there should be two solid lines on the left for the top view. So answer is A.

For the second TFE, if you notice on the end view, the top and bottom aren't straight -- there's a little dip. If you visualize it, it has to be either A or C. That angled edge going up to the column curves around the circular part (instead of just connecting straight to the top). This would create that curved dip you see on the end view. Then use line counting to get answer C. That's how I did it.

I hope that makes sense... Wish I could give you an answer for the keyholes...

Keyhole#1 imagine looking at the structure from the RIGHT, while laying on your side. You can see that it's choice E, 2 blocks.

2.

Keyhole#2 Focus your attention to the cut-out rectangular shape in the middle of the structure. Compare that to the answer choices, you would be able to eliminate C,D, E. In the original structure, there is no visible arch that can create a peak in the middle of the semicircle. CHOICE A

TFE#1
I was between choice A and D. Focus your attention to the Left side of the structure (in FRONT VIEW). You can see that if you look from the TOP there will be solid lines indicating different planes. CHOICE A.

2.

TFE#2 Since it's asking you for FRONT VIEW, focus your attention to the "possible dash lines" that you can see. You should see 3 dash lines from front view. Part 2 info, you need to look at END VIEW, specifically the triangle like shape on the vertical column. Choice C.

great explanation, but the view for the very first question is front/back, not the side views.

1. E
2. A
3. A
4. C
