One of my schools asks to explain any low GPAs or low grades. Would a 3.4 GPA my freshman year be something I need to explain?

Also, if I just started a new clinical gap year job, when should I update schools about this? On the secondaries I have yet to submit, I will find a way to include it. But what about for those I have already submitted?

Just starting an activity is not worth an update. Save that for needy schools after you get stuck on a wait list.

I don't think a 3.4 qualifies as a low GPA in what they're looking for.
