1) the fact that it is health care under a 'Catholic' tradition mean that they don't do any stem-cell research and do not do/teach abortion?

2) When was the school accredited by the LCME?

Thank you very much.....

making such difficult decisions....... NEED HELP!!!

Stem cell research does happen here (at least, according to a professor whom I asked earlier in the year when I was thinking about working in a stem cell lab).

Abortion isn't taught, but you can go places to learn it from what I gather. I know someone who is working with an OB who is somehow affiliated with the school who is doing research on abortion techniques, for instance.

I don't understand why you are asking the question, but our current accreditation runs through '07/'08. The school was founded in the 1860's

I haven't heard much here in terms of embryonic stem cell research, which is probably what concerns you. However, if you've been following some of the important breakthroughs in science, Dr. Anversa and colleagues have done some really fascinating work with adult stem cells and transplantation and differentiation into cardiac myocytes in rodent models, with plans to follow-up in humans. Really prominent work.

On abortion, I haven't heard much. However, we did discuss at length issues like physician assisted suicide and euthanasia, with both sides of the debate presented. Really, I don't think the Catholic tradition has any effect on teaching here.

On accreditation, don't worry about that. This school has no problems with that, and is one of the oldest medical schools still in existence.
