1) What is the best verbal practice? (I've heard Princeton Review Hyperlearning Verbal is good. What exactly is that and where can I buy that book?)

2) What are the best sample exams besides the AAMC? (Berk Review? Princeton? Gold Standard? How do I buy these?)

1. EK 101 is good. However, I caution that the passages aren't as difficult to read as the actual AAMC passages, but the questions are a great representation of what you'll expect to see. On the other hand Kaplan passages can be quite difficult to read, but the questions do tend to focus more on the details than on general arguments/main ideas, thus not providing the best practice for the AAMC test.

2. Kaplan FL #1-6 are quite good. Bear in mind that they are generally graded easier, but the passages/questions are more difficult. Other than AAMC that's all I've tried.

Good luck.

1. I used EK101 and I found that the book really helped me improve. Like Rolling said, the level of difficulty isn't quite at the AAMC level, but these passages are still great practice.

2. I only used the AAMC tests.

okay thanks, but can someone please tell me:

1) What exactly is Princeton Review Hyperlearning Verbal and where can I buy it?
2) Besides AAMC and Kaplan, which practice tests are best (berk review, Princeton, gold standard)?

The TPRH Verbal Workbook is one of TPR's MCAT Hyperlearning classroom course books. It only contains around 80 verbal passages. They're very tough to find and go for ridiculous prices now. I think I'm at least partly to blame for that. You can sometimes find them in the For Sale forum on here, ebay, from private sellers on Amazon, and craigslist. You might also be able to buy a complete TPRH MCAT set for around $300-400. I've read from a number of people that got a complete set that way. However, they will sell it as a set only.

For practice tests, your best bet outside of AAMC are BR's tests. They're expensive, but good. Next up, GS has some decent tests, but more and more people are favoring BR's tests and think they're worth the money and effort to get them. I'd avoid TPRH's MCAT FLs. They just aren't very good. The rest of TPRH's MCAT material is great (okay the Cracking the MCAT book is also a waste of money).

does the new edition of EK 101 Verbal (with the 60-minute tests) have the same passages as the older edition or are the passages different?

Same passages and questions, but they don't include all of the questions that were in the older edition. If you can, get the older one. Don't bother if the older edition is more expensive.

You should schedule your AAMC exams over your last month and a half of studying, and then fill in any more practice test dates you wish to do using other sources. Be sure to make them CBTs and not paper versions. Do paper review between exams, because it's more effective than computer. But do practice tests in the ost realistic environment you can create. Fifteen full lengths seems about the most you should do, if you have time. It seems like most people do between 10 and 15, with a few doing 20+ and a few doing maybe 5.
