I work in a lab an entire school year getting trained and setting up a big project. Unfortunately the professor (who had tenure) got forced out and I never go to do any further work.

I am working in a new lab this summer which should go into the year, but it looks like my experiment won't work out to be paper worthy. The main professor just took another position and is moving the while lab to a different university in Janurary.

Will it look bad that I work in two different labs for over a year total and never got my name on a paper? I was going to get recs from both of the professors...

Thanks!

No, absolutely not. Undergraduate research varies widely, and it's not always easy to get published. More often than not, it has more to do with your lab than you (the undergraduate student). As long as you can speak enthusiastically and knowledgeably about your projects, I can't see why there would be any problem.

Not at all, but man that sucks getting not one but two labs to fly out from under your feet. I feel your pain.
