With many schools, they recommend or require 2 letters from science professors or science faculty. I have been assuming that research with a PI will suffice as a science letter, and lately I've been double-checking on that.

I should have a letter from a visiting lecturer (taught our anatomy lecture class)- would this should count as science faculty?

The other was research with a professor emeritus of my school, whom I receive P/F credits and a course listing from, but it isn't a lecture-based class.

I have letters from other humanities courses and a doctor I shadowed, but my main question goes back to the science letters. Do these two letters count as science faculty? Only one?

Would adcoms turn me away based on this technicality?

Thank you

Some will and some won't.

It's safest to get letters from 2 science professors that taught you in a class, and then 1 non-science professor that taught you in a class.

Somebody made a pdf, attached.

I'm concerned about whether I need 1 other science faculty (prof?) or 2, and also because I feel like even if I get another science one I'm not sure how much I'd want to use it compared to these I have in hand. I just wouldn't be sure how strong it is.

Anyone on adcoms that can advise please?

It varies from school to school. You should check with each school you're applying to see exactly what they want. I recommend you get 2 science letters from faculty whose class you have taken in addition to your PI's letter.
