So, money is an issue for me in this whole process and i'm trying to figure things out.

for the rolling admissions schools i am applying to, i already have come across 3 schools that say if they accept me, i have 2 weeks to make a decision and give $100. Really? what if they accept me in Oct? I wont hear from some schools till Jan-March. How does this work? Will I get the $100 back afterwards or is it lost? Can I give $100 to more than one school?

Those are deposits to hold your seat in the class.

I don't remember the exact date so don't quote me on this, but I think anytime before May 15th, you should get your money back should you decide to withdraw.

Now for DO schools, it may differ depending on the school. I know Western, for example, does not give your "deposit" back.

also DO school deposits can be in the hundreds sometimes $1000...

$100 is easy. Some deposits are significantly more than that. Tulane is $500 and LMU-DCOM is $1000!

If it were me, I'd pay every deposit until you have an acceptance at your top school. Also, only continue depositing if the new school trumps an old one. In two weeks time you can donate plasma to generate the cash for one deposit. And hey, while sitting there donating you can think about which school you like the best! 😀

FYI: Money is an issue for me too, but I consider it an investment.

yeah this year i paid out 3 deposits of $100 a piece.. but as long as you notify the schools you wont be attending in WRITING by May 15th you will get the money back.

I would rank my schools and dish out the deposit money as necessary.

I would not pay deposits on schools lower than one I had already paid a deposit on as ranked on my list.

Once I had my top choice, I would maybe keep a backup school til May. You never know what could happen.

This is just me but I am dishing out money to what ever school comes calling.. But on a serious note, like said before just make a list and have a safety just in case something crazy happens...
