What is the minimum competitive academic average?
Historically, students who achieve an average of 80% (3.6 on the OMSAS scale) or higher in each of two individual academic years have been considered competitive. Westerns Dental school does not average years together to achieve 80% over two years.
What are the minimum DAT scores?
In the past, a cumulative score of 85/150 over the 5 sections of the test (Reading Comprehension, Biology, Chemistry, Perception and Carving Dexterity each section being marked out of 30) has been considered competitive. (Science Total and Average are not utilized in the application process.) This minimum score is subject to change depending on the quality of the applicant pool.
When do interviews take place?
Interviews are normally held on a weekend in April. Invitations are sent via email about a month prior. Western normally interviews approximately 200-250 applicants for 52 seats.
How are applicants ranked?
Applicants are ranked based on a compiled score representing 60% academics, 15% DAT and 25% interview. The Ontario Medical School Application Service (OMSAS) scale of conversion is used to convert academic marks/grades to Western Academic Average standards.

By the end of February, approximately 200 applicants will be invited to attend an interview at the Faculty of Dentistry based on their potential as shown by their academic achievement and DAT scores.
