okay, well we had a prelim rank list and now that we're 2 days from certification, i was just wondering what/how people are gonna rank. let me share first:

1.) MGH
2.) Hopkins
3.) Duke
4.) BW
5.) Penn
6.) Sinai
7.) Columbia
8.) Nyu
9.) Cornell
10.) St.Lukes Roosevelt
11.) BU

its been certified and dont expect any changes. i honestly would be happy at any of them. been a long season, only 30 or so more days left..

I'd like to see participants in this thread put (C) or (A) next to the program so we know where you are ranking the 4-year or 3-year (respectively) program. I know this doesn't count for most of the NYC programs (as they are advance track anyway), but it'd still be nice to see. My suspicion is that most folks are going to rank the advanced programs ahead of the categoricals so they can get a cushy transitional year or prelim year somewhere else anyway.

a bit suprised by UCSF being second best for at least 3 of the rank lists submited above... didnt apply to the prog, but just about everyone speaks highly of it.. i heard Miller may be stepping down, but Weiner-Kornish would take over... with her leadership, didnt think itd skip a beat.

anyways.. keep the lists coming!

These are great forums. I wished I had discovered this site prior to yesterday!

Alas, the ROL deadline has come and gone. I came up with:

1) Stanford
2) UCSF
3) UCLA

It was a tough decision, as each program had some solid merits in my mind. Good luck to everyone in getting your top choice.

Advanced = you find your own prelim or PGY-1 spot separately from the anesthesia program and match for a 3 year CLinical Anesthesia spot beginning as a (CA-1) when you are actually a PGY2.

Catagorical= you match into a 4 year anesthesia program that has the intern year built in, which can vary based on the program, but still usually includes some medince wards, surgery wards, ICU, and a mixture of other things, usually no more than 1 month anesthesia if any. You match into this program as a PGY1, but still usually don't actually start actually doing anestheisa until your PGY-2 or CA-1 year.

Hope that helps....

Forgive me for being ignorant on this, for Adv. track will programs accept a transitional year vs. prelim year. If one is not able to secure either of those then what is the alternative. Thanks.
