👍 Hello all! I am willing to read and offer an unabashed critique of your personal statement. I consider myself to be an above-average writer and have read The Elements of Style (Oooh! Ahhh!) I got an R on the MCAT writing sample, a 730 on the SAT II writing (a long long time ago...) and a 760 on the SAT I Verbal Section (an even longer time ago).

Anyone want to read mine? It's still transitional and a overhaul from my original PS which I felt was bland. So the lucky reader (how I envy you so) gets to read my original, last year's PS and the new one.

I changed the old one 'cause I wanted to add an "oomph" factor, like "oomph, this PS knocked my socks off" and not "oomph, the PS smells as bad as a dead rat with spoiled eggs stuffed inside it".

Let me know if there are any brave souls out there willing to experience the road to perdition and credentials be damned. As long as you can give me a this sucks and you suck or a this is okay statement, I'm good.

The statements are pretty short. Maybe 1.25 pages double-spaced.

P.S. The reader will be rewarded with a special place in my heart and major karma points.

You might want to start a new thread somewhere else, like in Allopathic. If you had been accepted to med school would you be reading a personal statement thread in pre-allo? I probably wouldn't. 😉

I don't think unusual experiences are the key....I think having good heart-felt reasons for your experiences are more important
