thanks for the good wishes, Bust and sweetdoc! I'm trying to prepare myself for the possibilty of reapplying again. I've gotten 10 rejections so far, and my only interview has been at ECU.

did any of you interview at UNC with a doc that kept trying to sell the NAVY?

If he was an OB/GYN, then yes, I had the same guy, Dr. Cefalo, who was pretty cool. I think he liked me because I was an Air Force brat. Anyway, the interview scared me a little because we were joking around, but his delivery was a little dry and I wasn't 100% sure he was joking some of the time, which in retrospect, I think he was.

Your spring break is early. I think ours isn't until the 3rd or 4th week of March. I'll be stalking my mailman that entire week, waiting for news. I honestly don't know what to expect. I feel like my interview went exceptionally well, but we all know that doesn't really mean anything. I've been wondering what they take into consideration when offering acceptances. For example, some schools no longer consider numbers (GPA/MCAT) once you get to the interview stage. I hope Duke doesn't, because my MCAT is definitely below their average. Now I'm just rambling. Come on Duke! Pick me! lol 😀

What frightens me is that if you go over MDapplicants a lot of people seems surprised by their rejections, because they thought their interviews went well- they're known for having really laidback nice interviews. Right afterwards, I thought I did a great job on my interview, but as the months pass I worry more and more about what I did and didn't say...

Bobodr-san..glad to hear that you got one today. Maybe it means something positive? I hope so. I can't wait till we get a decision from UNC and ECU as well. Couple more months in the worst case scenario I guess.

I wish I hadnt annoyed the admissions office so much already as I would like to call and see how filled the class is already. I am sure there can't possibly be that much room, isnt their a AAMC rule that enough acceptances to fill a class have to go out by sometime in March? Also the acceptance rate on SDN matches the USNEWS acceptance rate so things are starting to come down to the wire. Not to mention I know several people who dont post here have gotten in. I imagine that if we get into Chapel Hill then we will know within the next 2 weeks. Alot of good people on here still havent been accepted so good luck to everyone....

we'll see... beats the rejection letters that i've been piling up lately, even if most everyone gets on to wake's waitlist to begin with.

So then there should be at least 60-70 UNC acceptances that MUST go out by March 15th, the AMCAS deadline for admitting at least the number of students in the class.

Yeah I got in from the waitlist the next adcom meeting, without sending a letter of intent (because I'm not intending on going), however, I did send a two sentance letter that basically said, "I was disappointed to be waitlisted and continue to be interested in WFUSOM."

UNC's class size is 160. If there are 40% of the class left still open then you are correct buddy.... here is hoping for the best. Golf when we getting together for some fine dining in the WFUSOM cafeteria.... the fried chicken is so good .... 👍

I did not know about this March 15th deadline. I thought the AMCAS rule was that by May 15th, schools have to give a decision on each applicant.

I don't think I'm going to get a lot of sleep this week waiting for their letter. As much as I want in there, I also just want a definitive answer so I can get on with my life (hopefully a life with Duke!). I feel like I am at a stand-still right now.

I interviewed at ECU in late September. I called their office today and Ms. Lee told me that my file has been reviewed twice in the adcom, but no final decision has been made.

Sooo little talk about Duke here... Decision 2006 is today. I know its like 67 instate and they take ~20 instate. 28% odds just getting an interview, though I hear take accept ~200 from the 750 interviewed.

I tried to research this March 15 rule on the AAMC website. From what I can tell, the date is March 30 and it is a recommendation, not a rule. I found another source on the AAMC website that said March 15, but that was from 2004.
