Hahaha no, you're fine. Reading your post made me wonder: oh, we can tell when a mail is coming to a particular address from USPS?! But then I realized it's just me being silly and being incredibly literal when I read anything application-related :smack:

If someone had told me "Oh xx got into yy med school because he did [insert something completely insane] at his interview," my initial response would have been "Oh really?? 😀😀😀😀 [I should try that]" and then "Oh wait..."

Just FYI, my acceptance letter (almost 4 years ago) was a small envelope. IIRC, the admissions office usually won't give out your status over the phone.
 
well today's the big day.. any news?
 
i wonder why they choose to mail the decisions instead of emailing...emailing is much fasterrrr.

has anybody tried calling the admissions office?
 
I have a feeling that many schools (especially those without status check websites) decide to snail mail their final decisions, because things can often get mixed up when sending acceptances or rejections through email. I mean, how terrible would it be for someone to get an acceptance email and then find out that they were actually rejected. 😱

I've been accepted at 4 schools. I received email acceptances (with a subsequent mailing) from VCU and NYMC, who both have online status check websites. I received ONLY snail mail acceptances from Maryland and EVMS, neither of whom have status check websites. So it seems to make sense, at least in my mind.
 
so how does it work, they mail it on the 15th or they mail it before and they calculate is going to arrive around the 15th?

If you find out your decision, could you please kindly include your interview date or even month? I'm sure lots of people with Oct/Nov and even Dec interviews are going to have decisions, but what about January? Is it possible they are out already, too?

That's depressing, I was absolutely thrilled when I visited AECOM.

Well it looks like we weren't lying to ourselves beforehand..I see you have other acceptances so it isn't the end of the world for you but at least for me it feels like I was just pistol whipped.. such a bad feeling! lol

Congrats!!! :luck: I interviewed this week, L-O-V-E-D the school, faculty, students...I really hope to get in...at least I made everything in my power to make a good impression 🙂
 
OMG, I'm so nervous to check. What number did you guys call? AECOM does not mess around....scary they reject people right after interview.

I went to the AECOM admissions website and jus called the main number and asked for a status check - they were very kind.

Yeah I guess my post-interview impressions have been pretty much spot on so far (which is the opposite of what people say usually happens :laugh:). Oh well, AECOM wasn't my first choice, but it was up there on my list... I just pray that Columbia pulls through for me.

PS - Did the lady on the phone say "A letter went out dated today and I'm afraid it's not the news you wanted to hear... best of luck in your future." You could tell she felt bad about breaking the bad news.

Violet7 I just got an interview invite there about 2 weeks ago. I scheduled for sometime that is 2 months away. What did you like about the school? I would like to go on the interview if I hear good things...but some M4 at the school wrote a terrible review basically warning everybody not to go.

Thanks.. yeah it wasn't a top choice but I would not have been complaining with an acceptance. And yes! She felt so bad telling me, I was like don't worry about it and thanks for your time and go to hell ... jk
 
I'm so nervous to call. I shouldn't have put too much feeling and expectation into AECOM. It's my top choice and I have a feeling I'm going to be majorly disappointed. SIGH....I need the motivation to call, loL!
 
CALL the news will be the same if you find out today or 3 days from now...JUST DO IT we are rooting for you

Ha, I got the exact same line. She did feel bad. Getting rejected stinks. I wasn't even planning on going here if I did get accepted, but it still hurts.

CALL! I really hope you're accepted since it's your top choice. Like sankondbeast said, the result is going to be the same... if it's good news you can start celebrating earlier! :hardy: If you don't call you'll be waiting in agony for the next 2-4 days!
 
You know what Chad, I always thought we would end up going to the same school. We have very similar stats and when I saw you got an Einstein interview I was excited. Haha, Im such a dork. Anyhow, I'll give them a call. Best of luck, folks!

So I called...and got the bad, but not so bad news...Waitlisted 🙁

I hate the medical school application process...so hard to predict whether you'll land an acceptance, waitlist, or rejection. I'm just glad I have 2 acceptances so far. We'll see what happens with AECOM waitlist, but my hopes are not too high for it. POOoo
 
I interviewed in september, and I called.
 
Hey atleast your waitlist has more meaning since you know they reject post interview. Most schools just accept or waitlist and string you along with no idea where you stand if you are waitlisted. I'd say you earned a spot on the waitlist.
 
accepted!! i just called to check. i interviewed on sept 8. it was my first interview and i was so nervous i kind of just rambled and giggled my way through it.

I have this ridiculous theory, where if I send a letter of interest post-interview or call for my status, I get waitlisted. Has happened to 3 schools. Only one time did it not come true. My ridiculous theory, lol! Oh well...we'll see what happens. Congrats to alL!
 
I hear ya, sushi. Let's cross our fingers that we get off this waitlist. Did they tell you anything about when they start looking at the list, or whether they'll let us know how we're ranked, or how movement generally is?

I was too shocked to do anything other than say "thank you" and put the phone down.

Hey, there's still hope! Congrats on being NOT rejected! :laugh: If you're serious about it being your top choice, I would consider writing a letter of intent.

Best of luck to you in the future! :luck: It's too bad we won't end up at the same school. 🙁
 
F1doc, that was my post-decision reaction, too. I was too dejected and bitter to ask. I just said thank you and crawled into a corner and hung up the phone (not quite, but close to it). I don't know how the WL works, so if anyone can chime in it would be great. So I got WL #1 choice and accepted #2 choice. I think I'm officially done with application unless I get some cali-love.

oh btw, I already sent into a LOI(nterest) post-interview, so I'm sorta screwed. Not sure what else I can add now that I got waitlisted. HmmrpH?

I know, I read that post by M4 shortly before my interview, so during the lunch with students I asked them:
1) if they keep in touch with M3s and M4s..they said yes.
2) I asked if it's true that school is focused on primary care and doesn't support people that want to go into subspecialties...they looked at me like I'm talking nonsense and asked where did I get it from
3) I asked how many electives do they have during 3rd year, they said a lot, like 7 months... but once again I was talking to M1s and M2s asking questions about M3s and M4s...so perhaps the information wasn't very accurate 🙂 I was trying to spot at least one or two M3 or M4, asked a few people randomly who looked like they might be students in their 3rd or 4th year, but no luck 🙁

There're many things I liked about the school, but I'll write about it later.

Where can I find this terrible review? Reading it might make those of us who got rejected feel much better🙂
 
I just called up the office, Waitlisted.... I too was wondering how their waitlist worked. Do I have any chance?
