I interviewed early December and also haven't heard anything. I called recently, and was told that they have rolling admissions around the 15th of every month. So, if we didn't hear back last time, we probably have to wait until mid February to possibly hear something.

damn...........the pain continues

I also interviewed early December 🙂 I called and was told my app was still in committee. Not sure what that means, but it sounds like they haven't finished reviewing it.

I don't know if anyone interviewing in December or January has received an acceptance?

So, they review our apps, but hold off on our status till later on?

A lot of us in that boat (~75% statistically speaking). Some of us will go on a waitlist which is more than likely a rejection list because their waitlist barely moves. I have serious doubts about an acceptance given that they have gone through 2 cycles of acceptances and still passed us over.

I would agree with this since with a school like UCLA w/great rep, location, and cost, few ppl will reject them unless they got into UCSF, Harvard, JHU, etc.

everyone who received an interview at UCLA got an email notification correct? Because, I have not received an interview (i am post-secondary though), and I just checked my status and it says "final decision letter sent." This is bad, right? Sounds like a rejection to me.

Email for intervite invite. Sorry, but it sounds like a rejection.

In previous years, and presumably this year as well, but clearly dont know for sure, the admissions committee has subcommittees and so an applicant has to wait for his or her subcommittee to submit its recommendations before your final decision is made. It appears that the first group of acceptees are some kind of the super duper stars, and that the group that was just accepted represents the actions of the first subcommittee which is just the most efficient one. Over the next three to four weeks, more students should be getting acceptances as their subcommittee meets and makes recommendations. It is definitely disappointing to be evaluated by a slow subcommittee and exciting to be evaluated by an efficient one, but there is not much else to read into it. Again, I don't have any privileged knowledge of things changing or staying the same this year compared to previous years, but that is how it has been in the past.
My main point for those of you who have been interviewed and haven't heard anything yet is that you should not give up on an acceptance to UCLA. You more than likely have not been passed over even if you had an early interview. Your subcommittee probably has not given out its recommendations yet.
And good luck to you all. Medicine is a challenging profession and it is heartening to read how committed, eager and bright you all are.

Thank you so much for this info.

And many people will even turn down those schools for UCLA. I'm passing on Hopkins, and a friend of mine who applied last year turned down both Hopkins and UCSF for UCLA. It's an awesome school, I hope you guys hear good news soon! 🙂

Ahh! I got two rejection letters! One with my name, and one with some other person's name. What to do, what to do...

Well, I'm tired (just flew in from an interview), so I'm just going to sleep.

UCLA was a backup school for me anyway :meanie:

Nooo, I'm just kidding! Please take me! 😛

Kind of odd, though. I've received quite a few rejections so far, and none of them so far have really affected me. I think it's a side effect of being a re-applicant--rejections don't hurt anymore! Whee!

I called and asked. THey send to send it to the same address where you sent the LORs.

I wish I could be like that. I'm a re-applicant and this rejection has hit me really hard. I felt so down at work today. What's worse is that I'm always around CHS. 🙁

Dammit...got the "letter sent" msg on my status page pre-interview, post-letter of interest/begging, and post-UCLA graduation! I want to be a Bruin for lifeeee =(...I guess I will have to settle for the fact that deep down, my heart tells me that I always will be even though my M.D. will say otherwise...

HERE. NOW. UCLA.

So I sent them an updated transcript and I am sending them another LOR... I hope it makes a difference...🙁

Sorry CafeMed 🙁 You should switch eating locales and go to Synpase. I used to study there a lot and people are friendly. Might be depressing seeing those scrubs walking around though. Maybe move to Kerckhoff? I used to LIVE there.

Lukkie, which lab are you in? Our tissue culture room is on the 4th floor also!

well i sorta lied... we WERE on the 4th... moved out some months ago. finn/slamon lab

still own the rooms though hahaha, think there's some postdocs working in em.

Lol why did you get a new LoR this far into the cycle?

One of my LOR writers took 2 extra months to write the LOR... which is why I was complete very late for the AMCAS LOE schools... For UCLA, I only sent them 4 LORS initially, since this one had not been written yet. I decided I may as well send it, since UCLA has barely any WL movement.

Hey,

Does anyone know if UCLA offers student housing for the interviewees? Thanks!

Is there anything bad about living in LA or going to UCLA?

Is UCLA still offering interviews? I was complete early sept and never heard a word

Oh snap jgberken is a full mod now. Congrats bro

 I'm not a bro!!! I'm a female! You don't believe me, do you lukkie?

The day everyone believes Berk is a female is the day that everyone believes that Lukkie is a male:meanie:

I know, being so close, but so far away kills me. I take classes in the same lecture halls as the med students, eat in the same place, and study in BioMed, just down the hall from those bastards in admissions.

You are pretty much my stats twin so I'll be rooting for you next year!

I'm actually on the 4th floor of LS, but I'm constantly running around CHS.

Synapse is actually pretty good. I'll probably start going to Kerckhoff or the Bombshelter.

Btw, this week I've gone to Northern Lights. Free fro-yo and pizza all week!! 😀 North Campus makes me feel ALIVE.

damnit that avatar wasn't dynamic haha

Your post was supposed to turn into this:

hey guys..returning back to the admissions offers of recent...

so the first batch was the recruiting batch...

but it seems that only 1 person on sdn has gotten in on the second "batch" which leads me to believe this might have just been a subcommittee...I understand that not everyone who gets in goes on sdn, or reports it...but just one admission reported on sdn is not indicative of a "large number of acceptances..." anyone concur?

See post by docandmom on the previous page - she said the same thing.

Congratulations. Now only if they would send me an acceptance finally. 😀

I looked back and it looks like at least two got in from the second batch: mega and dsma. I couldnt' tell if this batch is only acceptances or if there are some waitlists or rejections from this batch too. Are the rejections just pre-interview so far? In past years, there seems to be batches sent out of waitlist and holds.

I haven't heard of any post-interview rejections/waitlists thus far, but I'm not sure if that's actually true or if no one has reported it yet...

YESS! Interview invite at last. So excited 🙂 I really hope they like me. Anyone who got an invite recently know when they are interviewing? Early march? Mid march?

Sweeeeet! I just got my invite today 1/30 and they scheduled me for 2/12. Yessssssss.

who came up with this recruiting batch term? Is this from anyone official?

Dam n, shouldn't acceptances in the recruiting batch come with big healthy scholarships?

:xf: Maybe that comes later

recruiting batch term came from some admissions person at UCLA I believe

How can UCLA not have preference for instate residents, esp when there are so many qualified instate applicants? I thought all state schools have to have a preference for instate because of taxpayer revenue source and etc.
