So I get 2 missed calls on my cell phone this morning.. it's a 310 number. I decided to call it back and it's the UCLA Med School line... wth? Nobody left a message or anything. Anyone know why UCLA would be calling me? I haven't received an interview invite or anything yet. 😕

if you're local, maybe they have an interview cancellation in the next few days and they want to fill the spot? otherwise I don't know. Something missing from the application??

It might be an interview invite. That's how I got mine.

well Monday is a UC holiday so at the earliest they'll mail stuff on Tuesday

i interviewed this week and my interviewer said the ad com is meeting after my interivew.

calimed,

did you not receive a status page update in your email or did the UCLA status page not change before you got the call? The reason I ask is because I was told the committee was meeting to discuss my application for an interview and I cannot currently be reached by phone...

Shall we start picking dates that UCLA will finally send out a large mass of decision letters? I'm thinking sometime after president's day but before brett favre announces he's un-retiring.

I say April...

LOL

After missing 2 phone calls in the morning, I ended up receiving an email in the afternoon about my interview invite. My status did not change online until after I received the email (I had been checking periodically throughout the day).

Can someone please answer this for me?

How strict is UCLA with AP Credits? Anyone get accepted with AP Credit for the required courses?

Thanks!

Fairly. Some classes they refuse to take AP credit on (like stats).

Their app check system is down for me? Possibility of news? Probably just someone's spilled coffee, but still....

IMHO It should be a bannable offense to bump this thread without any kind of decisions update.

Just curious, does UCLA ever send out interview invites by snail mail?

I was told by the admin office today that I would be sent a letter soon. I'm assuming rejection, but input from those who received interview invites would be great!

Yea it's down for me too, but I doubt it has anything to do with them "updating" decisions.

Yeah...looks like it's down...but looks more like a code problem than an update one...but maybe....fingers crossed from them finally mailing out some more acceptances. I got really nervous the other day when I accidently typed my AMCAS in wrong and it said it had no record of the application...whoops.

Most were notify via email. However, some ppl recieved phone calls.

status page has been updated. Interviewed in Mid December and was sent 2/13/09

i guess these could be anything...accept, waitlist, or reject

No change on my status still...........I dont know what to make of it, but Im starting to assume waitlist/rejection. For ppl that got accepted, I heard UCLA is a horrible school, trust me, you dont want to go there. There are lots of Persian gangs in Westwood that end up taking over everything and decorating them with blue carpets and gold curtain rods.

On a side topic, I met a guy at my Wake Forest interview last week that was accepted to UCLA. He told me that he interviewed in mid Dec and was accepted by mid Jan. However, he said that the AdComs meet monthly to evaluate applications and all members involved in your application have to be there for your app to be reviewed. Thus, if someone involved in your app(ie, the interviewer) is missing, your application gets deferred to the next cycle. Anyways, just another rumor to circulate around SDN.

Letter came and was an acceptance. Ridiculously happy. Gl to those who have yet to hear. I'm probably going here for sure.

No change for me either.. oh well I am going to go ahead and assume waitlist/rejection too. **** you UCLA.

I'm in the same boat, I hope we're wrong. I interviewed in September and no news, this is some wait!!!

I interviewed in october, pretty depressing to hear about december interviewees getting in lol. At least their bball team has been losing lately...

i interviewed early november and still no status update. 🙁

my lab is only minutes away from the admissions office, but i'm too scared to find out if this is the big batch. i hope more acceptances will come soon for the rest of us!

I think the decision may be dependent on the interviewer and timing.

Come on, take one for the team. We need to know this info and whats going on there😕

Maybe but at this point, I think most of our interviewers have had more than sufficient time to make it to a meeting and tell the committee how crazy fabulous we are. That being said...it seems strange that the only people hearing are people making their first post or two. And if it were the big batch, statistically, based on the acceptance rate per number of interviewees, a fairly good number of people should hear...I thought it was like 1/3 of those interviewed...

I think it's more like 1/4th of those who are interviewed get acceptances. Also if you think about it UCLA gives out probably ~200 acceptances (no idea really just ball-parking here), so hearing from 2 people in this thread here on SDN would constitute a "big batch" in my eyes. There is no way that the SDN UCLA thread represents more than a quarter of all UCLA applicants. Thus I think this was feb's batch and we probably won't see any more news until March. I'll say it again: **** you UCLA.

My lab is exactly 2 minutes away (I timed it😀) but I already went last week...:scared:

Based on 2007 admissions data, they accepted 232 students overall, or 33% of the students interviewed. Pretty much regardless of in state or out of state, female, or minority, the stats kinda linger between 0.33 and 0.305 so yeah, maybe slightly less than 1 in 3 odds but still not awful.

It sounded like previous reports were that there was a big batch coming out at the end of February (though the date seems kinda fluid)...I wouldn't imagine this is the big batch though because 232 is a fairly large number and it being the "big batch"...I'd expect a fair number of people to find out...not just one or two.

I really hope you are right Blue Phoenix. This wait is so excruciating.
