A few years back people were accepted off the hold list. UCLA is just playing it safe (by having the hold category) so that in case they go through the entire waitlist and still not fill up the class, they can take people off the hold list.
 
Typically, how many people are on the waiting list versus the hold list versus rejected?

It varies. Only UCLA Admissions Office knows the numbers for this year but they are not very forthcoming with this information.

i called the office today and was told the same thing, and that not much more movement is expected. oh well... least i can stop checking my status page now!
 
Interviewed 02/25/2009. Waitlisted 06/05/2009. Status change 06/26/2009. I think it's an acceptance. Accepted Student Checklist is also up. Second time applying and this is my only acceptance.

Don't give up. I was contemplating about giving up if I didn't get in anywhere this year but afterwards decided to fill out a new AMCAS. So I was ready to apply for the 3rd time until I saw my status change today. Perserverance is definitely important in this process.
 
Congrats MoonUnit, I'm glad you don't have to do this nightmare of a process a third time. I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

Quick question, did you send anything extra since your interview or your waitlist decision (updates, LOIs, additional LORs etc?) Thanks!

Go live it up this weekend! You deserve it! Congrats again!

I sent a letter of intent a week after my interview, an update letter 2 months after my interview, a letter accepting a waitlist position on June 8th, an update letter on June 10th, a recommendation letter on June 18th, and another recommendation letter today. In total, I ended up submitting 6 recommendation letters, 3 of which were academic.
 
That's great news! Thrilled for you 🙂 But also sad 🙁 This probably means a batch went out 6/26 and another one is unlikely huh?

My friend was accepted to UCLA in January 2009 so he had a chance to attend UCLA's 2nd look in April. A current 1st year UCLA med student told him she was accepted from waitlist on July 15th, 2008.

I got a phone call today from a lady from UCLA, asking if I was still interested. I had last sent a LOI in February. She said something like "we are currently going down or WL and seeing who is still interested." She said she would forward my response to the admissions committee. We'll see what happens, but I'm just going to proceed like this call never happened for now.

When did you interview and when did you get waitlisted, Cellar Door?
 
Status Changed today, Accepted student checklist is up. Didn't expect such a quick turnaround. Very shocked to hear this late. I had been on the WL since 2/18/09. I can't say for sure that I will be attending, maybe 50/50 it all depends on Financial Aid.

Congrats to everyone who recently got accepted off the waitlist!!!

I've been totally out of the loop and just realized the status change (but no letter yet) today. Like others, I think it'll all come down to financial aid now. Does anyone know how generous UCLA is in that respect?

Did you get the status change to "accepted students checklist?" If so, CONGRATULATIONS! and is there a date listed by it?
 
Yeah, I did get the checklist, letter sent 6/26. (just got back in the country yesterday so I haven't been checking). Best of luck to you!!

I just withdrew. It was a tough choice to give up an OOS acceptance, but I've decided to stay closer to home. UCLA is such a great school, and I'll be crossing my fingers for you!!! :xf::xf:

Me too. Status Check every hour hoping for the "accepted students checklist" :luck:

I wonder how many waitlist members still eager to go to UCLA exist at this point. I assume many students have already worked out their financial aid and housing at other schools and are no longer available for UCLA.
 
Umm...is the status site down? I know it's getting late but I can't give up on that tiny thread of hope...though now it says that I have either an incomplete data field or no record at all. Probably nothing?

Change the year to 2009. The default is now 2010.
 
Don't know if this is helpful to anyone...but I've been on the waitlist since 2/18 and I just got the phone call and status change today. I was busy so I didn't get to check until now...

Congratulations to those recently accepted! I'm surprised and encouraged by the extent of waitlist movement. Lets hope it keeps going.
 
I too was accepted off the WL--am now working out the logistics of UCSD vs UCLA pending on finaid info on M (hopefully). Oh what a fun week this is going to be!
 
a question for all those who got accepted off the waitlist in the last few weeks: did all of you get a call/e-mail about your interest in the school first?

I'm still desperately hoping to squeeze in last minute off the waiting list. Anyone heard anything lately? Also, do you have any stories of students being accepted in late July/early August? I'm just trying to keep hope alive :scared:
 
Last day to be accepted off the waitlist is July 31st (From admissions office). Ian said it's been moving pretty slowly but there's still some hope. Information regarding specific likelihood of getting off is restricted to the admissions committee.

I wonder how many of us are still waiting. And what are waitlist rules at this point? Isn't it true that we're only allowed to be pulled from the waitlist X number of days prior to the first day of school at the school we're holding?

I've never heard that. I think that if you get pulled of the waitlist before you attend the orientation at the school you're holding you're fine

Probably a lot, it seems they waitlist a lot of people this year. And I heard that you can still be accepted all the way up till the day before class starts.
