I am waitlisted at UCSD only. I sent only 1 update letter to UCLA almost 2 months ago.

I am 100% sure that there was no accepted students checklist when my status screen read "letter sent." I was accepted in December, however 😕

Hey guys, went to the office today and I was accepted!

Im really crossing my fingers for all of you! Ive grown rather fond of this thread over these past agonizing months, and I truly hope all of you get in.

Interviewed in Feb, still no status change online. I'm trying to limit myself to one status check per day in order to retain at least some degree of sanity during this process. :scared:

Hey guys, I withdrew my acceptance from UCLA today. Good luck everybody and I hope my spot goes to somebody who really wants and deserves it.

Hate to clutter up this thread since I am not attending any more, but I just want to say that I really thought both schools were VERY similar in many respects, especially when it came to caliber of students. I felt like every UCSD student I met could fit right in at UCLA and vice versa. The choice was never about rankings for me, but the fact that I am so tired of westwood, shelling out 1200/month on rent, and the disgusting celebrity culture that pervades the area. I just needed to get out. Besides SD is only a 2 hour drive from LA so coming back won't be an issue.

If you dont mind me asking, how many schools you applied to? Since you got interviews at UCLA and UCSD, you must be doing something right. Are your stats(MCAT/GPA) good? I just find it hard to believe that someone that can get interviews at UCLA and UCSD cant get an acceptance somewhere.

I interviewed at UCLA and Duke with no MD acceptances. The application process is weird and random...We just shouldn't try to figure it out. =)
 
same here... I applied to both places-- Duke and UCLA-- waitlisted at both schools. After this application cycle I fee like I am the king of waitlist-land.
 
Just wanted to wish everyone the best of luck! I am a reapplicant and was fortunate this cycle! Don't lose your hope to those waiting...This process is so random anything can happen!

Given that it's already past middle of June, it's very strange that some people still haven't received an initial decision.
 
Still no initial decision for me. I called the office and was told my file is still with the committee. I'm not superstitious, but I'm getting desperate here so:

Now it's back to the waiting game.
 
i would guess next round of decisions will go out friday... someone said the committee was meeting this week.
 
Called today and got the generic "file under review" response (again). Still waiting for UCLA’s initial decision since the school I intend to go to as of now, Case, starts in the beginning of July.

Maybe you and usermike8500 had the same interviewer who couldn't make it to the committee meetings? When you called, were you asked if you have other acceptances? Who answered the phone?
 
I had a dream that we would hear back on the 18th...

But last night I also dreamt that I won the Olympics so take from it what you will :laugh:
 
For those waitlisted people who were recently accepted, do you know what around what time your status check changed? I just want to know so I could stop checking after a certain time since I check it like 134234213521 a day! lol :laugh:

I hope so. I had two interviewers(1 student and 1 MD). As for your questions, I was never asked about having other acceptances(I heard that schools recieve a list from AMCAS that contains a list of schools each applicant has been accepted to) and the person I talked to was a woman(didnt get the name).
 
It's possible there was another (smaller) batch of acceptances off the waitlist that went out after the 5/26/09 and 6/5/09 batches. Any acceptance batch would probably have to be significant in size for it to be reported on SDN. For instance, if only 2-3 people were accepted, what are the odds they read/post on SDN?

Hey so I'm still wl and so I called the office I think last Friday. I was told that the class is currently full and that any movement would be expected in July. Sobering... =(

..Of course we all know how unreliable their information is.

Ouch. It's not over until classes begin. And even then, I'll be living in denial hoping for some sort of late acceptance letter.

Received my initial decision letter today. I'm on the unranked waitlist. At least I can still maintain a shred of hope for my first choice school. 🙂 :luck:

I was wondering if someone could explain the different types of waitlists @ UCLA. I tried looking it up, but I couldn't find an answer.


I was told that there are two waistlists / hold lists.

Is one more preferable than the other?

there's only one waitlist....an unranked waitlist. There's also a hold list.

The hold list is for rejects like me. I have no idea why they don't just flat out do a rejection rather than this stupid hold since there's no chance in hell for someone on the hold list to get into the class.
