you've gotta give it time. they take a while to upload the fact that they have been received. My status says that AACOAMS received my transcripts on 5/27 but it wasnt updated on the site til like june 8th.

i just found out today that im having a huge transcript problem.
i called a bunch of places and im hoping that everyone understands the importance of my requests. This is going to delay me majorly.
I don't think I'm going to be able to apply "early" now. Perhaps ill be one of the late applicants in the early crowd...or an early applicant in the normal crowd.
but good news today: i found out i marked myself to be included in Med-MAR and I am good to go for my URM status. Not looking for handouts, but just trying to get ahold of every little thing that can help!
After this, I never want to apply to med school again! the process is unnecessarily stressful. I hope med school, itself, is less of a chore than applying.

Hey Matt, Looks like a great resume you have. I see you are really interested in Florida International University. When I went to their website, I don't see anything about a med school. Could you please provide a link to it? Thanks so much!

damn man, that sucks. i hope everything falls in to place soon for you, and im sure it will. its still pretty early, how long are you expectin the delay to be?? what happened?

p.s. how did you find out you marked yourself med-MAR? is that necessary in order to be considered URM? I believe i marked the med-MAR when registering for the MCAT but i'm not sure if thats what is necessary to be considered URM, or if the school will decide themselves, etc.

I had some issues with New College of California...mainly cause I received transcripts back in April (need to be dated within two weeks of being sent). Now the college is losing accreditation, so getting a transcript from them is making me age rapidly 🙁
anyways, I spoke to a rep from AMCAS on the phone about the URM thing. I asked about how to officially identify oneself as URM. She said the first thing I had to do was mark myself as such on the MCAT registration. It will not matter if you check a minority ethnicity on the regular application (for AMCAS and AACOMAS). To officially be considered in the URM pool of applicants, you had to have told them you would like to be included during the MCAT registration.
I didn't know what I had marked, so I spoke to a rep and it turns out, I marked correctly =]
If you don't remember, you should probably give em a call as well. Here is their contact information:

but youre right, just being put in the Med-MAR is no guarantee you'll get URM status at any particular school. They will ultimately make their own decisions regarding how to identify their applicants' ethnicities.
 
its on AMCAS but the class size will only be about 40!

Yeah, I submitted AMCAS a day ago. I'm not really in philly, I'm outside in Delaware county, but its just easier to say philly.
 
Folks
Just a quick note -- you all are listing your submission date -- the countdown for verification doesn't begin when you submit, but when you are complete. We can't verify without transcripts for all completed terms. The date from which to start counting the 3 to 6 weeks is the later date of Submitted or Transcripts received Yes.
We've completed verification on over 200 applications so far.
There are a few transcripts that became complete in the last week of May that are first in the queue for verification. We are meeting our stated time frame of 3 to 6 weeks from completion to verification.

Did everyone list their submission date without regard to transcripts? My date remains.
 
I honestly didn't think about it because when I submitted on 5/15, two of my transcripts were already in. I had forgotten that there was some kind of mishap with my third transcript and that AACOMAS didn't get it until several days later so when I started this thread, I just checked the application for submission date.

Well, my transcripts were received on the 11th, so my date is accurate.
 
Well I just checked and found out that I apparently went to school for two undergrads at the same time haha. I don't know how but they filed a transcript under my name thats not mine!

I hope this doesn't slow my verification.
