So, aside from emphasizing the stress and length of time to verify, what is the point of this anyway? Secondaries I can understand. Verification...not so much.

You know everyone is going to get verified within the same 2 day span or so. 😛

I need the support when I'm waiting for decisions and not getting answers from schools.
 
It's the waiting process that is painful and stressful. Seeing that there are other people in the same boat is less stressful. 😀
That is unless those other people want to push you off the boat :scared:
then that would be stressful. 😡

But a little stress is good for us all. :hardy:

This may have been asked already, but how do secondaries work? Do some schools send out secondaries before you are verified by aacomas while other schools do it only after? Thanks in advance!

if you aren't verified by AACOMAS then the schools don't even know you are applying. AACOMAS will verify you, then send your info to your choosen schools, then the schools will send you secondaries.

the order of the cycle goes Submit to AACOMAS....verification by AACOMAS....AACOMAS sends primary app to schools you choose.....schools send secondaries....you send completed secondaries back...schools choose applicants for interviews.

the difference between schools is that some schools send secondaries to every applicant who applies (a cheap way to collect 100+ dollars) and some schools will actually look at applicants and reject you pre-secondary if they dont like what they see.
 
Does rejection pre-secondary come pretty quickly? Just curious, although I'll keep the negative vibes away 🙂

On that note, I'll be proud to join this thread by sometime this week. Finally got around to finishing.
 
If I got an email from a school saying they saw my AACOMAS application and talked about completing the secondary, does that mean I am verified? My status still says submitted on the AACOMAS site. How do you know if you are verified or not? 😕

I got a similar email, but my AACOMAS application still says Submitted...may be someone from last year can help us out here. thanks..

Between the fact that you submitted around day 1, the AACOMAS rep on SDN says they are meeting the 3-6 week goal, and you received an email acknowledging your application, I'd say you're verified. Also, the rep said they are "working on a notification system." I assumed this meant email, but this probably encompasses a status change, or lack thereof, as well.

Just a quick note -- you all are listing your submission date -- the countdown for verification doesn't begin when you submit, but when you are complete. We can't verify without transcripts for all completed terms. The date from which to start counting the 3 to 6 weeks is the later date of Submitted or Transcripts received Yes. We've completed verification on over 200 applications so far. There are a few transcripts that became complete in the last week of May that are first in the queue for verification. We are meeting our stated time frame of 3 to 6 weeks from completion to verification.

I just got an email from a school as well saying that they received my application, and my status also still says "Submitted". I submitted back on May 19 and all of my transcripts were there by May 21. I am assuming that this means I am complete...they just have not posted the word "complete" yet.
 
Mine was from UNECOM...just a notification that they received my application but they do not have my MCAT scores yet (i took it on June 13)

I also received an e-mail from LECOM, stating that they have looked at my AACOMAS application and I should be receiving an email, with in 2-3 weeks, containing login information in order to complete the secondary application.

I just got an email from Dr. Moore of Lecom, so I'm guessing I'm verified. I submitted near the end of May sometime. (Don't remember exact date).As mentioned above, it doesn't say anything about the verification though.
 
For those that have received emails from schools stating that their application is complete, has your coursework listing page in your AACOMAS application been updated or certified? Does it provide you with a view of your final GPA calculations?

Nothing changed, anywhere in the application. No GPA is available after you submit. I'm not sure if they would tell you about any changes if they did make any.

ditto. and i, too, received that email from dr moore of LECOM. i submitted aacomas around may 28th or 29th and i believe i rec'd his email on june 20th, so now just waiting patiently for the 2ndary...
 
This doesn't make sense, how are you supposed to see your final GPA and determine if they made any changes to your course classifications?

I received a letter from Dr. Moore at LECOM on the 20th as well. I'm not verified yet either. That's interesting that they can see who we have applied to when we're not verified and our primaries aren't out yet.

Congrats choco on getting verified...how did you find out..did they email you or did you check it yourself? :hardy:

LECOM email = verified. AACOMAS, so far, does not notify you of verification, in any possible way.

so you're telling me that myself, as well as the other people who got letters, are all verified? thats pretty awesome! i hope its true. can't wait for secondaries.
 
Yea. Its going to be hard to stay on top of these secondaries. I've got the LECOM one on the way, and then two MD school ones to work on already.
 
I sent an e-mail off to AACOMAS asking about my status and got this in reply:

Thank you for your email - yes, verified and processed. Your materials are scheduled to be sent out later this week.

Cool! It really doesn't seem that hard to implement a simple status change on the application. Seems easier than answering endless calls/emails regarding status...
 
So you guys are finding out about your verification once YOU email AACOMAS?? LECOMers are "verified"?!

Wow, you guys finished really early. I didn't know you could submit before June 1st. I submitted June 20th which is far from June 1st, but I wish I could be in your shoes right now.
