There were political differences between Hitler and Stalin, too. In fact, major, major differences. Especially economically.
Obviously none of the US presidental candidates are that authoritarian, but, in short, just because they have differences doesn't mean any of them are worth a ****. There was actually a Simpson's Treehouse of Horror that illustrates this perfectly. In fact, I consider it one of the most underrated political satires of our generation (no, I'm not kidding). You know, when the two aliens disguised themselves as Bob Dole and Bill Clinton. You had to chose one...but obviously you're screwed either way and the human race was to be enslaved either way. It's the same concept.
There's a big 500 pound gorilla in the room vis-a-vis US monetary policy. The US dollar is weakening and neither large political group seems to really notice or care. It is, by and far, the most frightening subject and issue we face, in my opinion, because our entire economic livelihood is hedged on floating the dollar internationally as a fiat currency. At least the Republicans have been fighting the weakening of the Dollar via some means (US military control of the Middle East..leading to Petrodollar hegemony)...albeit those means are horrible and terribly regrettable.
What is needed is to basically knock ourselves down a notch, start producing (like in the 50s/60s), export some ****, and pay off some debt so the US dollar can strengthen again. RIGHT NOW, there is no way in hell the Dollar will do anything but continue to weaken. The more we keep living off the county's proverbial VISA card, the more ****ed over we will be long term. As we speak Russia is toying with a power play over oil price controls via a "petroruble" (google "Russia oil bourse"). If they are successful (I don't think they will be anytime SOON..), the dollar won't be in demand, and our greenbacks won't be welcomed in China for crap to stock Walmart shelves anymore. And what does a service economy with no means of importing goods do? Well...ahem..yeah...
And guess what the major political parties want to do about it? JACK ****!!!
Why? Because they are too pansy assed to get up there and say anything that implies the country needs to actually sacrifice economically to better itself. So **** the Democrats, **** the Republicans. They are *****s. Oh, sure, we'll elect one of them....it's nice to pretend they are all that different. Nobody is actually going to start a nuclear war. That's beyond ******ed, even for the biggest war drum banger.
