i got mine last week if that helps, call the financial aid department they can give you a definite status on the letter

For me last year it was a lot of crying, screaming, and a whole bunch of ice cream and chocolate...but I'm a girl. 😳

So the general consensus on this thread was that if you held an acceptance somewhere else, VCU would be less likely to offer an acceptance. I am living proof that in some cases they do. I guess that LOI really did help. Or it was just my time. OOS Female! Woot!! VCU has been my first choice since I interviewed there. I just wished that I didn't make preparations in Philly already..😛

Lots of money down the drain, but can you really put a price on happiness? 😍

wow looks waitlist movement has stopped or its just at a trickling state now..

saqrfaraj any good news for you....it sounded like you were close on the waiting list. I hope they got to you.
 
have the people that were told that they would get in from Dr. WC all heard by now? just wondering if the waitlist is moving slower or faster than expected...

Unfortunately not. From what she told me, it seemed like I was so close. But a few weeks after the seemingly good news, she told me that "the Virginia list just isn't moving."

She talked about seeing how things go in these next few weeks, but I'm not really expecting much. Still hoping though.

That's a tough message to get-I got one of those late June/early July last year too. Keep up hope, though-from the c/o 2012 thread it seems like a few people might still be holding 2 acceptances while they decide. People might get accepted off other waitlists, too, which could cause the VCU list to move.:luck:

okay so i got a call from dr. wc today but unfortunately i didn't pick up because i was sleeping (aaaaahhhh stupid time difference!!! i'm in cali....) but she didn't leave a message.... do any of you have ideas as to what this might be about?????

yea i did and she said that she wanted to know if i was still interested in the vcu. but then she said something about offering a spot but it wasn't an acceptance or anything. she said that if she were to make an offer she would have to tell the school that i was going to go to that they would make me an offer... so yea does this mean that i am gonna get accepted or were they just getting my hopes up cuz i really liked vcu and i still do but i guess i would need to know soon about what they're thinking so i dont make plans for the other school... aaaahh this is so frustrating!!!!😱😱😱😱

Obviously you want to go to VCU (judging by your scrambled post). I would tell them that you are very interested and that you would pass on your other accpetances for a spot at VCU.

I can't really tell what you meant by your post but I take it you already have an offer from another school?
 
i had multiple acceptances, but about a month ago i emailed dr. wc and told her i was interested in mcv/vcu. she responded saying she was glad to hear that, as she had recently noted that i did have other acceptances. a week later i was offered a spot at mcv. u should stress ur interest.

The day I got my offer last year she emailed me in the morning and asked if I was still interested...although I suspect she was being funny or something when she asked because we'd been emailing back and forth every few days for the last 2-3 weeks at that point. There was really no doubt about my interest. I can't say for sure you're in, but it does sound good.:luck:
 
Just got the acceptance email at 6:03 PM today!!!! My first one, I didn't think this day would ever come! I'm so happy!!! Best of luck to everyone still waiting, I know how stressful the wait is! 😀

Dr. whitehurst cook told me that they are close to my rank. At this stage, would there be a lot of instate movement? I am instate female. I have another acceptance somewhere else but I really love this school.

Congrats! Now celebrate...and oh yeah, plan the move if you're not local. That 3 weeks to plan a 3000 mile move last year was interesting!

Sorry, but the instate list usually moves much slower than the OOS list. That being said, there were a couple of instate acceptances in the last couple of weeks last year, so there is some movement. I do know there were 2 acceptances after mine (July 18th) last year, and I think at least one of them was IS. Good luck!

True... if Dr WC hasnt advised you or you havent already, you might want to submit your AMCAS for the next application cycle. FWIW, the top 5 people on the WL apparently get 'automatic' acceptances the next year according to an unnamed source.

Really? That's interesting. Dr WC has repeatedly told me that I'm "very high on the waitlist, but things just aren't moving." Maybe I have something to look forward to.
 
Does anyone know when the refunds are sent out for M2's? School starts on 7/28 just trying to budget.

Last summer my financial aid posted 8/17 to my student account, then it took 2-3 days for the refund to be direct deposited to my bank account. If you have direct deposit I would expect to see your refund on 7/19-7/30. That's my best guess anyway.

Sigh....summer is coming to an end. I love school, but my summer has been so nice that I just want it to go on forever.

is there anyone that did the VCU certificate program and got in for fall 08?
 
Hi all. I went through the 2008 application cycle and was offered a secondary and eventually an interviewed.

I was ultimately and still am wait listed.

Dr. WC mentioned that I shouldn't count on my acceptance and reapply just in case.... as I did.

I was rejected pre-secondary.

Anyone have any ideas/comments/suggestions. This just doesn't make much sense to me. Hope you all can offer some good input.

omg! that's so mean! :scared:

write to Dr. WC right now and ask what's up. I figure if you interviewed during the previous cycle, they owe you at least the chance for a secondary this go round.

Did you use the same exact personal statement? Have you taken the MCAT again or improved your application in some other way? I agree with the above posters, but I am trying to figure out if there is some reasoning behind their action.
 
I graduated in 2006 and worked as a researcher since then. The only things that changed was I got publications and more extracurriculars under my belt.

I made minor revisions to the PS but the message was still the same and for the most part was applicable. I didn't see much need to change it becasue that year did not affect the message of the statement.

Besides that, I enrolled in an SMP for this year.

I don't think any of those things are merit for rejection pre-secondary for someone who interviewed the previous cycle. Then again... what do I know.

They should at the very least call you for an interview again given all these changes since the last application. Yes, I would call Dr. WC because it just does not make sense. Good luck with it Irvin!
 
I had a interview with DR. WC in June and she stressed that I should change my personal statement because it shows that I am still very much committed to going to medical school instead of just casually reapplying. Im sorry if that helps or hurts you.
 
So I guess those of us on the waiting list will get our rejections today. Did anyone get any good news these past few days? I hope someone did at least.
 
To Instatewaiter and anyone else,

I'm concerned about my current status right now as a pre-interview and out-of-state (California) applicant. On 8/6, I received the updated applicant status...the one that begins with, "The committee's file review indicates that they would like to consider your file further." On your previous posts, it says that applicants with this status usually takes about anywhere from a couple of days or longer for the status to be updated (for an interview). However, it's been a little over a month since I received that message. How often is it that applicants with this status will NOT be scheduled for an interview by February? I appreciate your feedback.
