that's interesting...I interviewed on the first day as well and it still says "your interview has been scheduled, please allow 6-8 weeks for a final decision" 😎

yeah i have no idea what to expect. i keep going through scenarios like "they hated me, rejected me quickly" or "maybe i impressed them and will be happy on the 15th." it's also frustrating that they give the same status for all their decisions, and you have to wait for snail mail.

last year people who interviewed later than others got decisions sooner, but there was no correlation with any specific decision, it all seems so random.

flip a coin at this point.

A three-sided coin, that is. 😀

I have been complete since 8/28 and still have that annoying "No decision has been made yet" every time I run the gauntlet of their admissions website

Interview invite today! Complete 09.15.2009.

Interview invite!!

Interview invite today too scheduled for mid December... what's the deal with them interviewing so many people?? 35% acceptance after interview... ouch.

Here's what my status page changed to today:

Thank you for your application. Your file has been reviewed and will be re-evaluated later in the season for a final decision.

Oh, well, I guess it is good they put me on hold and did not reject me outright.

its better then 35%..also its that way as many use drexel as a "Safety" per say though i hate that term. And im sure they have a very hgih withdraw rate as people begin to get acceptances to other schools.

Me too, since 8/30, meh...

I hate checking cause it takes a zillion clicks and passwords and new pages... but I do it anyways because applying to med school makes me a crazy version of my real self...

where did you come up with this number? i was under the impression that it is higher than that.

they interview a lot of people because their class size is almost double most other med schools.

QFT. The application process has definitely brought out every anal personality trait I have. 😉

According to US News for Fall '08: "Total admissions: 8840 applied, 1331 interviewed, 709 accepted, 256 enrolled"

you can bookmark the second page where you have to enter your password.... reduces the clicks and password entries by a few! 🙂

Wow, so basically most people that gets accepted here is pretty much taken from deep off the waitlist.

not sure how accurate this is. this is straight from the drexel website:

2008 Admissions Data
12,005 Applicants
42,145 National applicants
1,330 interviews
256 class size

discrepancy in # of applications might be b/c temple may count the # of submitted primaries, whereas US news might only count people who also submitted secondaries..other than that, the numbers match up

and according to the US News data, 53% of people who are interviewed are accepted

i just checked and have that message as well 🙁
does anyone know if this is just a nice way of saying you will be rejected later, or has anyone received an interview after having this message?

thanks,
x

that's higher than most places...anything over 1/3 is pretty good odds these days.

yeah those numbers are the data that the admissions committee shows you on interview day.

also, i'm pretty sure they accept around 50% of applicants after interview. i believe that they eventually accept around 650-700 applicants (including those off the waitlist)

Don't know where you're getting that from. Just random ones... clicked 4 randomly.

Miami: 54%

RFU: 65%

Loyola: 51%

Jefferson: 65%

Maybe try finding some concrete facts before you give a general assumption that's wrong.

I don't know what's standard, but anything over 1/3 sounds good to me...right now my only two invites are UW as an OOS applicant, and Duke. Duke accepts less than 1/5, and UW accepts somewhere between 1/10 and 1/5 of their OOS applicants after interviews...so it's not looking good for me 🙁

I could reeaaaally use some love from some of these schools with >1/3 acceptance!

to current drexel students:

do acceptances come in large packages, or are all decisions sent in small envelopes?

in other words, please feed my insanity.

Mine, too! My status changed this morning!

Same here. Of course it's a week away from when they can tell us if we're accepted, so I'm definitely hoping I don't get snail mail too soon! :scared:

good luck guys! ive been a nervous wreck about this since i saw my status change last friday. i bet they wait, make a bunch of decisions, then send them all out in batches. but im also worried about getting a snail mail rejection before oct.15

I suspect a lot of people use Drexel as a "backup" because of the high OOS acceptance. Probably has something to do with their high interview/low acceptance rate for OOS students.

If you sign in to the secondary site, there is a link to checking your status. Mine was just changed this morning, and I interviewed the third day, so don't be surprised if it takes a little while.

Acceptance = large envelope.

Is anyone who was complete mid or early Septemberish still in limbo? I'm starting to freak out a little bit.

I was complete around early-mid sept and I still have no decision is available

Based on a few profiles I looked at from last cycle, it took about 2.5 months after the interview just to be under review by a committee member. In the interview email it mentioned that a final decision would be made within 6-8 weeks, in total, after the interview. Is this to be expected or does it depend?

I just completed my secondary yesterday and so if they decide to interview me, when should I expect the invitation based on your experience?

It definitely depends, but for me it took about a month or so after I was marked complete to get the invite.

took me like 4 days or so...i remember it was pretty quickly after i was complete. really depends theres no guarantee and everyone will have a diff expereince.

Interview invite!!!

Wow, wasn't expecting that tonight

OOS. Scheduled for January 9.

Yea I'm going to call tomorrow see if I can move it up. Didn't get an e-mail yet though. Just checked my status randomly and got the good news.

Congrats 🙂 Hope you can move it up! Where exactly did it show up on your status page--I hate that Drexel doesn't send out emails till later..I'm terrified about something going into spam also (this happened to me once so its not just premed paranoia 😛 )

Thanks! Go to the status page then click fall semester 2009. Then click "to view your decision click here". Then it said "you have been invited for an interview". Compulsive checking finally paid off lol.
