really hmm I interviewed before you and my status recently changed to your application is under review by admissions committee no decisions has yet been made. i wonder if thats a bad thing hmm

it probably is a bad thing considering its only been 5 business days... too bad, I really liked Drexel 🙁

I was thinking it was a bad thing for me as in they aren't sure if they want to accept me or not or waitlist me.. for you it could be a sure-fire acceptance decision so you never know idk. Did your status ever say it was under review by a member of the committee and will be sent to committee shortly. Thats what mine said for a while up until this past week and now its just under review by committee.. Pleaasee Drexel :xf:

At this point, I am not keeping any hopes up (for myself), just because I don't want to get disappointed. So, I am just prepping for the rejection letter. As far as the change, I checked it on monday when it said reviewed by the member of the committee. And, since I didn't check it everyday considering they said that it will take 6 weeks, I didn't see any other status changes. I kind of want to email my student interviewer to see if this means that its a rejection, wondering if its a bad idea.

Has anyone else's status change to "A final decision has been reached and a letter will be mailed to your preferred address" that interview last week. Because mine just changed either today or yesterday (nor really sure) and I interviewed on October 16th.

Hey -- don't worry that your status changed quickly. That is the exact same notification I received, and I was accepted. That notification could mean accepted, rejected or waitlist. Remember on interview day they told us that the committee meets and reviews applications every thursday? I remember them saying your application could be reviewed as early as the thursday RIGHT after your interview, or as late as 4-6 weeks later.

Good luck !

So I'm not sure if anyone has already asked this. What's the best hotel near the Drexel medical school that people stayed at? I'll be going out there soon and I need to make reservations.

thanks, that still gives me a slight hope. When I called the admissions office, they said that letter would be send out today or was already sent out. So :xf::xf:

I'm pretty late with this but

Accepted! My first.

Interviewed 9/21
Letter dated 10/19
Received 10/22

with my status as "No decision is currently available. Please continue checking this website for updates." Anyone know what this means?

Mine has been like that as well ever since I finished the secondary.
I think it means that we need to wait till they decide to invite us for an interview or not.
Better than reject in my opinion.

Has anyone else who interviewed on 10/15 or later been sent a decision or had a status change?

ouch. rejected today via snailmail post interview.

good luck everyone!

this may have been talked about already and if so i apologize, but does anyone know if the "on hold" status basically equals a rejection? has anyone with this message actually later gotten an interview? thanks so much!

Anyone who has already interviewed: what was your essay at the interview like? Although I'm not going to write it right now, I'd like to think about it and do some research beforehand (if necessary). I heard they were common sense, but ethical questions are hardly common sense. In fact, they're extremely difficult and impossible to give a GOOD answer for (but there are many bad answers).

I really do not think there is any research needed, its a ethical question. I will give you a example of mine was since I don't mind sharing, check your pm. If more people want to know, then they can pm me.

Thank you. That was helpful. I had heard it was three different questions they give you. Is that true?

I am pretty sure this is true, I can't tell you for sure. I didn't discuss the prompt with any of the other applicants just the student interviewer. There were three different color papers, so I am guessing it relates to three different prompts.

It's definitely possible, but it may be an uphill battle. If you like Drexel, be proactive and send an update letter or a letter of interest.

saqrfaraj: i may be just a neurotic premed, but i interviewed in early october and my application is still "under review by the admissions committee." - yet other people on this thread that interviewed after me have decisions. Today I thought the adcom meets and was sure that I would have "a decisions has been made..." but it hasnt changed. Is this bad?.. Any idea why this may be?

thanks for your response! while minor, i do have a few things i can update them on.....if i send both an update/letter of interest do you think i should just send it to the general admissions e-mail.....i feel like it would be better to either mail it or e-mail a particular individual.....any suggestions?

This happens a lot. It's hard to decipher this process, and you shouldn't jump to conclusions. This doesn't mean you're in for bad news, so don't stress about it too much.

Weird thing going on. About a week ago, I noticed the main application page said that I was finalized, paid, letters received, everything hunky dory. Then, when I went to Application Status it said my application was incomplete, had blanks under letters of rec, payment, etc. I emailed Drexel, no reply. Today, it says the letters were received on 10/27/09, still blank under payment. Does this mean they're going to make a decision soon?

I interviewed on 10/6 and my status still tells me that I need to schedule my interview or wait 6-8 weeks for a decision. After reading the previous year's thread, it seems like the length of time it takes for the adcom to make a decision varies randomly between applicants regardless of when they interviewed. And the amount of time it takes for them to make a decision has no bearing on whether someone gets accepted, waitlisted or rejected.

Cool thanks guys, this wait sucks hopefully its worth it :corny:

since i got so many pm's regarding the ethical question. its pretty much straight forward, mine was regarding a friend who had made up a physical, and the patient was due for a surgical console. What would you do?

And I finally received the letter, not the letter I was hoping for, but whatever. Good luck to the rest of you guys out there 🙂

That sucks... sorry to hear that. Good luck in your future interviews!

There seems to be quite a lot of post interview rejections here.... this does not bode well for me..

For those who are accepted,do we need to send the $100 deposit to accept the offer? Or can we just sign the form and send it in and turn in the deposit later in May.

As of Friday, the status page said they have mailed out my decision...Yikes!
I'm a little nervous though...the woman that interviewed me seemed to like me, but I noted that when I was discussing my interest in an MPH, she wrote down PhD :

Hopefully, the mailman makes my day tomorrow!

Oh my GOD, PinkIvy, good luck! I am sure you'll be very happy when you open your mail tomorrow!

By the way, we interviewed on the same day (with Dr. Su?) and I think I know who you are. 🙂 haha..

haha. Thanks! I liked Dr Su and all, but I hope that didn't raise any eyebrows. We shall see...

Best wishes to you as well!

Eeeks! My status just changed (in the last couple of days) and says they've reached a decision and I will be receiving a letter shortly! :xf: I hope it's good news! 🙂

So does anyone know what Drexel is really big on? Like what their focus is on or what really good hospital they're affiliated with?

Accepted! My first one! I'm so stoked. 😎

Complete mid-August.
Interview September 30th.
Final decision status October 23rd.
Letter dated October 26th.
Received November 2nd.

I really liked this school, and PIL sounds amazing. Unless one of my state schools finally decides to show me some love, I have a feeling this is where I'll be come August 2010.

Best feeling in the world! Good luck to the rest of you.

Accepted!

Complete: August 18th
Interview: Friday, October 16th

WOW! That was a really fast turn around for you! They must have LOVED you! lol

When do people get to choose the program?

Like right before classes start you have to "apply" to PIL. Then, the first 2 weeks of classes you can try out PIL and if you don't think it's for you, you can switch to IFM.

Interview invite today! Complete 9/12ish!

😍

This may have already been answered, but are acceptance/rejection letters in thick/thin envelopes, respectively, or do they appear the same?

Rejection/waitlist = small regular sized envelope
Acceptance = Larger 8.5 by 11 sized envelope with a few things inside
