Hi everyone,

has anyone stayed at the student guesthouse recently? It's suppose to be a family who owns a house that has two or three rooms right? If you have, please let me know your experience. thanks!

People have posted a number of positive reviews of the student guest house in this thread. It's a decent bet.

I recently stayed there... I absolutely LOVED it! The family is so hospitable and the house is so cozy! Its only a block from the med school... so totally a good choice!

Got home late last night from spending the weekend in Philly. Woke up to a nice large acceptance packet from Drexel on the table downstairs. I swear it felt like Christmas morning 🙂 I live relatively close to the school, so those who live further out, I'm guessing you should received notice around Monday or Tuesday.

When does drexel stop interviewing? Is it true that they make a massive waitlist and frequently go some 500 people deep into the waitlist? Thanks and sorry for the ignorance but I have heard some interesting things.

For those whose status (post-interview) has changed from "under review, but no decision has been made" to " a final decision has been made": what day of the week did you notice the change? I know my status changed to under review on a Thursday, so should I look for the next status update to also be on a Thursday? Also, how long does it usually take for the final decision to be made after being under review by the adcom? Thanks!

Probably a Thursday, yes. That's when the ADCOM meets.

CONGRATS!!!! I'm all the way out in California so mine should be here Mon or Tues. Hope I get some good news too!:xf: gahhh but I don't want to get my hopes up.....

Yeah, I interviewed on 10/13, so not too long ago...

I swear, this whole process had made me appreciate our mail system and delivery people on a whole new level. I also have developed compulsive habits (i.e. email checking, snail mail checking, etc)

Haha, yes, me too. I have accidentally intercepted two Christmas presents from my husband now because I keep beating him to the mailbox (post-Drexel MD/PhD interview, no status change, hoping for a good word soon)... "Honestly," I keep telling him, "I'm not trying to ruin your surprises!" :laugh:

i was complete 10/08 - is it to early to start worrying? does drexel send interview invite email or just status change?

i was complete 9/11 and I haven't had a status change.. prob too early to start worrying
 
Anyone else interview on 10/6 here who hasn't had any changes to their status post-interview? I know it says it'll take at least 6-8 weeks.... it's just annoying going onto the status page and having to read that I should schedule my interview still...
 
I'm only a bit over half way to six weeks post-interview and can't stand waiting for the decision. This will probably be the first school to get back to me post-interview so it's making me anxious lol. :scared:

No, I've been checking it at the right place. I don't understand why they make you enter in your Banner ID and Password twice though, it gets pretty annoying.

My status has been saying this for a month now:

Your interview has been scheduled. If you've appeared for the interview, please allow 6 - 8 weeks for a final decision.

Apparently my application hasn't even been handed to the reviewer yet. So, I would still need to wait for that guy to get it, take however long it takes for him/her to review it, and then have that be sent to the adcom, and then I have to wait for the adcom to make their decision.... grrrrr. I looked through last years thread and this doesn't seem too unusual... it's just frustating.

It's much too early to start worrying. Drexel interviews through much of the spring, so you've got plenty of time to get that invite.

Congrats on the acceptance! I was just wondering how you would rate your interview here. I know it's probably different for each interviewer, but my faculty interview seemed short (15-20 mins). I thought it went smoothly, but he didn't seem to dig for much information like I have encountered at other interviews. The student interview was more like 30-45 minutes and went fine as well, but I'm worried about the faculty one. Just wanted to see if you (or any other people who were accepted) had a similar experience. Thanks and great job!

For what it's worth, my faculty interview at Drexel was so short that I was back outside in time to catch the very next shuttle back to Queen Lane. It couldn't have been more than 10-12 minutes.

Mine was like an hour and a half 🙁 All my interviews have been like that so far. I think that it's a bad sign.
 
Thanks! Mine was also relatively short and pretty straightforward. My interviewer (Dr. Su) didn't really pry for any information. I mean, I knew she "liked" me, but based on the interview, I was expecting WL or rejection because I felt that I didn't have the opportunity to present new or deeper aspects of myself.

Just breathe easy and distract yourself with something. There's nothing to be done now but wait.
 
Got my letter in the mail today.... Waitlisted... :/

Took a little over a week since my status changed to "a decision has been reached" online...

Anyone know if there is much waitlist movement/when it would happen?

Im sure there is a ton of waitlist movement at schools like this i wouldnt get too down. Theres a reason that they interview like 1200 people and accept 600 or so for 200 or so spots. A lot of people end up turning this place down. I enjoyed my visit here, interviewed last week but my interview didnt go so hot, it was short and the guy seemed pretty disinterested...expecting waitlist/rejection 🙁.

I really wish that was true, but looking at last year's thread, only a very very few people on sdn got pulled off the waitlist (and not even till July!)... I don't know if that's because the people getting pulled off the WL didn't post on SDN or if there just wasn't very many? 🙁

well considering SDN isnt exactly the most representative source for such things i wouldnt really worry. Just because it doesnt happen on sdn doesnt mean much of anything. Maybe saf or someone else can say better but id really doubt that this school has small WL movement come july. Even if there is no waitlist movement is there really any point in worrying now?

I agree that you can't take what you observe on SDN as a representation of total waitlist movement. However, it's true that waitlist movement has been pretty scarce on SDN for many schools in the past few years. More people are applying every year, the number of spots aren't keeping up, and it shows when it comes time to take people off the waitlist. Nevertheless, there will be movement come late spring and early summer, but no one can say for sure what we can expect.

The best thing you can do is stay proactive. Show them you have a genuine interest in the school, and hope for the best.
 
my decision has been unchanged for months...since mid august. silent rejection?
 
Anyone stay with a student host? This is my first interview. Haven't decided what to do yet.
 
So have people been hearing back from the committee about 6 weeks after their interview? I know they say 6-8 weeks, but I was curious what peopel on here have experienced.
 
I've been complete since mid-September, and still haven't heard anything 🙁

Thanks! Yeah I am preparing myself for a WL too, but hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised like you were. Btw does anyone know how many students from Florida they have taken, on average, over the past years? I know CA is pretty well represented in the class, but at the interview they didn't mention Florida as being a place that they take a signifant amount of students from.
 
hey does anyone remember if the waitlist is ranked? Or if they said each person was reviewed on an individual basis, i can't recall from the interview day 🙁

I know they said that the wait list is ranked, but they won't tell you where you are on the list...sorry I don't remember much else.

Don't worry I was complete early september just got my interview invite today...OOS. What sucks is they didn't have an open date until Jan28th, so I attacked the date not realizing I have my first day of a bio lab on that day next semester, and we get de-registered if we don't show up, just freaking great!

No need to worry. Call up tomorrow and ask if they have anything earlier (if not they can also move you to a later date). The admin office is nice and will likely help you out.
