Since it was over 10 weeks, I finally called them to check and the lady (who was very nice) said that one of my screeners hasn't reviewed yet and the other one is done. She said it could take any amount of time to hear back.

For those under committee screening - it really is under screening, there are no silent rejections at this school.

I'm having the same thought. I definitely wouldn't mind waiting until the end of November or so to travel here. From what I've heard, it really doesn't matter when you interview here...

Can anyone confirm this? I hope they aren't "fake non-rolling", i.e. they do decide, but just wait until March to tell you.

Thanks for the info.

I've been in screening since 9/1 i can't stop thinking that they might have picked it up 3 days after I submitted, looked at it, vomited directly onto it, and then thrown it out.

Haha I am sure if they wanted to reject you, your status page would reflect that. The lady told me each reviewer needs to finish evaluating before an interview or reject decision is made.

i would say it depends on the game and how much you are willing to pay for it. the interviewees that were duke undergrads made it seem impossible though. they don't play real basketball over there anyway. take 15 minutes to go down the road or just go see 'bron at your case interview.

sooo say I came to interview in November when basketball starts, what would the chances be of getting tickets to a game??

Pretty tough assuming it's any kind of semi-legit opponent (basically any major conference team). Most of the tickets go straight to Duke's generous donors and the student population. Your best chance is to find an undergrad who will let you borrow his ID (perhaps for a small fee) and wait in line with the other students. Plus if you do that, you will have AWESOME seats. Or stands technically. Duke students don't sit.

Duke encourages it and is very supportive with the transition. The sooner you switch, the sooner the program will start to cover your tuition and expenses.

Well, well, well... look who it is. I can see 3rd year is treating you equally as well.

interview invite today! super stoked. I submitted my secondary 9/8 with no email confirmation of complete-ness. Definitely one of my top choices for sure.

I'm glad working on that monster secondary paid off..?

Ha! Not as well as it's treating meee!!

If I didn't have to take this stupid medical stats class, my life would be complete.

For those of you who have interview invites, would you mind sharing when you submitted your secondary?

It took about 6 or 7 weeks for me to hear back.

Basically, after your application is received, they send it out to two reviewers. They both have to submit their evaluations in order for you to be invited for an interview. So, if one is especially busy, you won't get a response for a while. That is why you see some people getting interviews in 2 days and others in 2 months.

got my invite within a few days of submission. as everyone else says definitely depends on the people reviewing your app.

for those of you who are interviewing/have interviewed did you guys just go ahead and send out lors?

Duke created the electronic LOR system. They will download the letters. I was told such by an employee at the Duke admissions office a couple months ago.

Duke created VirtualEvals. They will not take letters through AMCAS, they will only take VirtualEvals (and maybe interfolio? not sure)

Duke interview!!! Finally! I'm going to assume I was complete around September 12!

Congratulations NotSur. I know you were waiting patiently.

Haha, thank you. I've been checking my status nonstop. I can't believe there are interviews available next week!

Not to burst your bubble but are you sure about that? I was sadly disappointed when I clicked on the actual dates to find out that the day had no interviews available. 🙁

There are not interviews available next week, unfortunately. Those are simply interview dates. Click on the date and you will see it is full. The earliest dates are in early December if I am not mistaken.

Wow, 2 weeks ago they still had a few in October. They must have just sent out a lot of invites.

one thing I really missed on my interview day was the MSII's that usually come by to hang out at other schools. those kids are usually very knowledgeable than the MSI's (who seem to be busy making that transition early in this year).

is Duke's 2nd year different from a typical school's third year (shouldn't be right?)

I think in some ways it is different, as all schools have their curriculum quirks, but yeah the 2nd year I think is pretty analogous to other schools' 3rd. At my interview, students from years 1, 2, and 4 all dropped by though, so maybe it was just that particular day that they couldn't come.

3rd year (Duke's 2nd year) tends to be the most restrictive and time-consuming year of med school from what I understand. I've seen few students of that year at any school I've been to.

Drove past Durham on the way to Wake Forest last week, and I realized how awesome it would be to actually visit Duke on an interview, not just as a tourist.

Lo and behold, interview invite this morning, Saturday at 6AM. Very sweet.

Finished my application about one month ago; it was my last secondary.

I just submitted my secondary a few days ago. I got an interview invite via email right after submission (as in 2 minutes after submission). Needless to say, I'm very excited and I have already scheduled my interview. Just out of curiosity, has anyone else received an interview invite so quickly? Just trying to get a feel for things...

Congratulations. That's nuts. Any clue why that worked out for you? 👍

I just submitted my secondary on Saturday. My status says Committee Screening. No response so far.

But 2 minutes after submission! They must have a program to automatically generate interview invites; or maybe you were really lucky that an adcom member happens to be reading apps and picked yours up right after you submitted (highly unlikely). My stats are similar to your reported ones on MDApps except my overall GPA is slighly lower than yours. In other words if they invite by numbers I would be screened because I don't make the 3.9 mark.

What time of the day did you click submit? I did mine at 12:05am..

Yeah, I'm sure the "panel of two committee members" read over your application really quickly, 🙄 haha... congrats!

I got one about 2 days after I submitted my secondary. 40, 4.0

I got my invite 1 business day after submitting my secondary. 27, 3.8

Thanks Amadelphous and Wildcat! I did work hard on my essays 😀

so I got a 27 in my MCAT and applied to Duke anyways but never thought I d hear back from them. I got a 3.8 GPA and extra curriculars and stuff. I just got my interview invite.
I have a question. Does the kind of interview you select influence ur chances of getting accepted? because a regional interview or virtual would be much cheaper than visiting the campus, but it would be nice to visit the campus though...
I think i really like Duke. They are obviously looking for something more than just grades. And i think they must read through all the essays for their secondary.
Wish me luck guys!!
