Yes, I'm sure it was just to mess with you, and not because interviewers were delayed in turning in their evaluations and the adcom was waiting to make a decision on every applicant before sending them out.

I think my internet ritual begins like this: emailacct1, emailacct1spambox, emailacct2, emailacct2spambox, crying, sdn, facebook, google.com/naturalcuresformedschoolapplicantdepression....Hopefully we can all make it to March 1 without any major psychological damages!!! :scared:

Hey don't give up on that Spam mail! My only acceptance so far was hiding in my spam box! Maybe my Duke rejection will hide in my spam box so I don't have to find it...

Hey, congrats on the acceptance.

As for me, I don't have a spam filter, so I don't have to worry about this problem. I may get rejected, but one thing is clear - I will definitely be aware of it.
 
for whatever reason the search function is disabled for me so im going to ask something im sure has been asked several times - does anyone know where to send updates? general admissions email, richard wallace, etc?
 
I interview in 2 weeks and still haven't heard back about a student host. Has anyone else? Maybe I should just book a cheap hotel room just in case...

Do that. Tell them you're interviewing at Duke, and they'll give you a discount (at least the Brookwood Inn does). Also, just cancel it if your student host works out.
 
Holy crap, somehow it's February (wasn't it just December like yesterday?)....can we start obsessing/freaking out about Duke again now? I've been good for so long...think it might be about time to reactivate neuroses...

haha, i kind of just realized this today also. I had put away thinking about Duke because March seemed so far off but it's getting close now. I'm not expecting good news but I'd be happy to be wrong!
 
Is it really snail mail and no email for final decision?

Haha I think I've said this twice now, but last year it was snail mail acceptances, email rejections. And I believe I have also entered my rant about how much that sucked.

That really sucks huh.
BU send me an acceptance via priority mail for $14 and it took exactly 1 month - 3 days...
But then, if you look at it this way, as long as I dont get the email, I am in?

Or do WL go out via snail mail too?

WL were also emailed last year. So yes, according to our theory, if we don't receive an email, we're in! Does that mean we're already in...?

1st and 15th, which one is the announcement day? I'm confused.
 
Ehh, I would chill out on that March 1st date a little guys...I would be extremely (but pleasantly) shocked if notifications went out exactly March 1. Anyways, like I said, they will begin updating the login page with the expected date pretty soon here. But again, as Diosa said, it all relies on interviewers getting their evaluations in on time, and hoping they don't extend the interview season a week or two beyond the expected. Both happened last year, so March 1st was pushed back to March 6th because of the extended interview season, and March 6 ended up being March 13, because of the delayed evaluations.

Don't get me wrong...I'm hoping for March 1st too. But I'm not gonna cling to it too desperately, or I'll go mad. And thamsenman, don't withdraw...however bad it went, if you're like me you'll always wonder what coulda happened if you had waited it out. Worst that can happen is you get rejected...and since you're already expecting it, it won't sting that much. And you never know 🙂
 
hey how responsive is the admissions email address?

I admit I'm not a very competitive applicant here anyway.
 
I just interviewed this past Thursday and I already want it to be March! I can't imagine how those of you who interviewed earlier in the process have survived! Duke would be a dream come true.
 
interviewing on the 16th and haven't heard from student host. anyone interviewing around that time want to split a room?

Seriously though, I had dreams of finding young attractive co-eds at Duke, which quickly descended into a nightmarish reality when I set foot on campus. I could not find one attractive woman throughout my interview day. True story. I am actually debating getting engaged (assuming I get in to Duke), only because I know I won't find anything better in Durham.

Guys guys guys. All you need to do is read LAST years Duke thread to realize how sucky it is to get alll hyped up bout a great school only to be rejected/WL'd. Last year it started off the same way w likle 50 new posts per day up until (the late) admissions decisions. This was followed by post after post of "WL'd" or "rejected" with a tiny hint of acceptances. So doooooooooont get ur hopes uppppppp plzzzz.

That being said..if you have NOT received an email from Duke yet, that DOES mean you're accepted.
 
He's kidding. But that is the most solid advice I've heard on this forum...do NOT get your hopes up; I went through this last year (as a forum lurker), and got my hopes dashed right along side the vast majority of our little SDN community. The numbers are not in your favor...just keep that in mind, cuz as much as I love all of you (minus a few scary misogynistic boys...), 80% of us won't get in 🙁. I'd be pleasantly surprised to get into Duke, but as it is, I'm keeping myself busy browsing apartments in New Orleans, and trying not to even think about Duke. Trying....grrr. Maybe I should stop stalking this forum then...
 
Duke has much more in the way of attractive guys, undergrad and grad/prof school. Just sayin
