I wonder how many acceptances are going out..... Anyways, let's hope for the best!

yeah this is getting old. i suppose it could always be worse though.

I've been lurking here for a while. I was waiting, like many of you to hear from Duke, and I got waitlisted this morning. I'm debating between sticking it out and committing to Pitt.

Good luck to all still waiting!

Rejected this morning. I interviewed half a year ago, why didn't they just reject me in the first batch? doesn't make any sense whatsoever

I got the rejection hammer this morning too. 🙁

Anyway, good luck to those who dodged the emails today (especially to those that have Duke as their hands down #1). :luck:

Still waiting. Did y'all get emails?
Also, does anyone know if they send out waitlist / rejections in one go, or are they staggered?

For anyone that has gotten in, rejected, or waitlisted, today or before, does the online Duke PAS ever update to reflect this???

I was waitlisted during the first round and my PAS status still just says interview complete.

I was accepted during the first round, and my PAS has not changed. If you haven't received an email, you're in good shape.

Good luck to the rest of you, but I'm fairly confident that for me at least, it just means they forgot my name in the rejection/waitlist wave. I'm sure they'll remedy that tomorrow morning.

Sigh::

oh please

So I called to make sure that all rejections/wl have been sent out, they have been. I begin to hope that I actually get to have my dream. Sit down to check my email and there is an email from the admissions office people saying that they made a mistake and my decision was sent out two weeks ago.
Wow. Two weeks of my life massacred for nothing.

just got the waitlist email today. withdrawing. if you didn't get an email today maybe you are still in the running? good luck all

What was said decision? Do you know?

I don't see the problem if it's like "Oh, your acceptance letter got lost in the mail. We're resending one now. BTW when do you want to schedule second look?"

Did you get in or do you enter the fifth circle of hell with the rest of us?

So I called the admissions office, and asked them whether all decisions have been made for the entering class.

The lady responded with a curt "We're hoping by tomorrow"

=/

WHERE IS MY DECISION? And have any acceptances been given out for the past wave?

EDIT: I really need to get a life and do something other than refreshing my email, checking my mail, and refreshing SDN.

Accepted! I just got an email from the Admissions office about Second Look. Just so people know that that was sent out. The official letter still hasnt come though.

The email said that "your acceptance materials were sent through a second and final wave of acceptances for this cycle." So, I think that means all acceptance decisions have been made.

Congrats on your acceptance! I'm assuming they may open this up again though once accepted applicants giving up their slots so it's not the final final wave, is it??

P.S. Has anyone heard anything back from the financial aid office yet??

P.P.S. Where are all the accepted people looking at living? The FB group is pretty quiet, so are people here. Or is it too soon to start talking about this? I'm excited but can't make it to 2nd look unfortunately!

Anyone have the 2010 Match List?
It'll come out in the next few days (they don't automatically release it because everyone gets a choice whether or not they want to). I'll post it when I see it, but I will say that it was a fantastic match this year.

I haven't checked this thread in a while and wanted to extend congratulations to all those accepted! To those who were rejected, keep your head up...you will ALL make great doctors. Duke is an amazing place but there are lots of med schools in the country that are just as awesome. Duke is NOT the end all-be all. I wish you all the best of luck :luck:

Nothing from the financial aid office, but they posted a webinar on the 18th that details their financial aid process (http://dukemedadmissions.na4.acrobat.com/p75772529/. It is worth watching.

Second Look will have a panel of students discuss housing options as well as a few tours. Some of the most popular apartment complexes are Alexan Farms or Place, Croasdaile Crossings, Deerfield, and North Pointe. Some other pricier, but closer and popular options, are Station Nine and Lofts at Lakeview.

Congrats to those accepted and :luck: to those still waiting!

Nope, all decisions are out. I just called to confirm.

Apparently they "forgot" mine, or as they claim, my spam filter caught it (I have no spam filter). So they're getting another email to be sent out.

EDIT: Rejected.

exact thing happened to me.
couldn't help but be really made that they didn't take an extra 10 seconds to make sure they had their info straight the first time around.
'sokay though, I am happy with my plan B 😀

anyone still in limbo? nothing in the mail nor email....virtual interview late february.

Did any accepted folks receive confirmation that their statement of intent to enroll was received? I know the receipt deadline is today...

Received an email confirming receipt of letters of intent on Friday, March 12th.

Wait is this a LOI as a waitlistee? I sent mine in to Richard Wallace on March 20th and I have yet to hear anything yet.

i sent in my statement and deposit and got an e-mail conf from mr. wallace. perhaps you should e-mail him and let him know, so in the case it gets lost in the mail they won't think that you don't want to go.

Thanks all for replying. I went to the office today- they got my statement of intent, but somehow my confirmation email got lost.

Accepted. Sorry for slow reply. Recommend giving them a call if you're been accepted, have mailed your LOI, and haven't receive confirmation.

Does anyone know what the deal is with computers for new recruits? I'm looking to get a new computer but want to make sure they don't force you to buy a new computer/specific type of computer once you get there?

Don't do it! I think it would be a good assumption that you will be required to purchase their computer. Schools do this because they place so much emphasis on technology, and they want all of their students to start on a common platform. However you feel about that probably won't influence the fact that you will have to buy a new laptop!

Ahh, I figured so much. Hopefully there's some options in what type of computer we can get.

Nope, no option. Everyone gets the same IBM Thinkpad. It sounds annoying, but there is Duke-specific software they upload onto it for everyone that you would definitely miss if you don't have it.

As for the match list, it's still not up yet (I mentioned this either in this thread or another thread, but they have to collect everyone's permission to release, so it takes a couple weeks). I stopped by yesterday to see if it was up yet but it wasn't yet. I'll post it here as soon as I see it. I thought it was a fantastic match, though...off the top of my head (all numbers except ophtho and radiology are approximate), there were 17 or so internal medicine matches, 13 ophtho, 8 radiology, 7 ortho, 6 anesthesiology, 6 emergency med, 6 general surgery, 6 pediatrics, 4 dermatology, 3 plastic surgery, 3 ob/gyn, 3 pathology, 3 psych, 2 urology, 2 med-peds, 2 med-psych, 1 rad onc, 1 neurosurgery, 1 ENT, 1 family med.

Mr. Burns, I forgot Duke's grading... is it P/F? Does it do internal ranking? Thanks!

P/F for first block of first year, H/P/F for the other 3 blocks of first year, then H/HP/P/F for clinical rotations. There is no internal ranking aside from AOA. There's not even a special adjective (seen at some other schools) at the end of your dean's letter to even hint at your place in the class, mainly because there is no record of what percentile you're in (again, aside from AOA).

Thanks for answering our questions! Can we still have our own computers for personal use and what not? Like, can we just keep the Lenovo for Duke specific stuff, or will we have to use that laptop day in and day out? I'm a Mac user and I'm okay with using Windows (and I actually prefer it for Office apps and work), but I still want to use my Mac for the most part.

Also, could you elaborate on the AOA selection process at Duke?
