Would you mind sharing your MCAT score/info? I am wondering what my chances are?

Well, I got a 32R and I have a 3.82 gpa (so-so). But my EC's are very good. Medical internship in Zanzibar, hospice internship (5 years of volunteering before), medical internship in India, HIV/AIDS program in South Africa, disaster relief in Peru, three Habitat service trips, president and vice-president of five clubs each for 2-3 years, shadowing, school leadership programs, school committees, etc. So, I kind of put a lot of emphasis on out-of-classroom experiences and I guess that really helped me out. My MCAT was disappointing since I studied since I graduated from high school until the day before I took the exam. (I got the yips)

Good luck and stick with it. I am sure that if you feel that you have good stats they will recognize that and hopefully give you an interview. Hang in there.

Right, they told us on 11/13 that we would be the last date considered for the November meeting, although some of us might not get reviewed before they ended their session depending on how long it was taking.

My only question if that according to MDApps, someone who interviewed on 11/6 was told he was accepted last night by phone. I can understand an adcom member calling someone to let them know if they knew them well or something, but that'd mean he was accepted before their official meeting too?

If they got a call last night it could have been afterthe meeting (I got one last night as well).

Oh, so those dates aren't for when they meet, but just for when they mail out decisions. Makes sense. Congrats!

Not at all. I'm taking a guess, sewcurious can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking it was Dean Lee who called her? He's the guy in charge of minority affairs that some people meet with after the interview day. A previous poster mentioned he called her a week early.

Just wait for the mail.

My call was actually from someone else, but definitely not a rejection if you didn't get one. Just look in the mail around 11/24.

i was accepted end of october and did not receive a phone call. got the letter in the mail around oct 30. interviewed 10/2.
 
Praying that I get into Emory this week! This has been my dream med school since I cant even remember when.
 
If you aren't accepted during your month's meeting and you're pushed back for review in later months, you're not notified of this, right? The only correspondence people will receive from the school is if they're accepted, correct?

In the mail Tuesday. Good luck to everyone! Hopefully I a) actually got reviewed during the meeting (our day was the last eligible day for November, sometimes they get pressed for time and can't go over everyone though) and b) will be accepted. Awesome school.

so they are out today... guess its a 2 week wait for me. heh

i meant that if mail was indeed sent today (or yesterday), it takes two weeks to get to me.😎

as proven by johns hopkins,

and unfortunately, after 5weeks, ucsf's mail has not gotten to me. 👍
 
Just got my acceptance letter in the mail (interviewed 11/6)

could not be more excited!!!!

And when was the acceptance dated, if you don't mind me asking?
 
guess I should assume i didn't get in... if decisions were mailed out on Tuesday, and I live in the Southeast, so it should have been here by now... 🙁 Really disappointed.

The letter was dated 11/20, but there was no postmark on the envelope for some reason.

Good luck to the rest of you waiting, and you never know with the mail so don't lose hope yet!
 
I live in Atlanta and just got the letter today. Since I'm only 20 miles away from Emory I assumed I would've received it earlier. So take heart!
 
NOOOOO. REGULAR MAIL!?!?!?!?!?!?

its going to take 2-4 weeks now!!!! 🙁 mannnnnnn i really wanna hear from emory... by the time i realize im not accepted... they would have sent the next batch out!!! hahaha and i can re-hope!!! lol =D

When did you interview? I interviewed on 11/13 and live in Georgia and I didn't get a letter either...

I interviewed at the end of October. Maybe they just didn't get around to reviewing people from your interview date?
 
I interviewed on 11/6 and haven't recieved any mail from Emory yet. Extremely disappointing as it was my top choice and got high priority waitlisted from another college (first reply). Does anyone know about the probability of getting an acceptance during the next rounds in Dec/Jan/Feb/Mar if you didn't hear right away? Also, should I send them a LOI or is it too early for that?
 
I think an LOI would be a good idea before their next meeting. The chances of being accepted at each meeting really fluctuate, it depends on the quality of the applicants inteviewed after u. The LOI seems like your best bet to set yourself apart from them. GL!

Just got home after being away for Thanksgiving and found an acceptance letter in my mailbox 😀

It's my first acceptance and I'm thrilled!
 
Just got the letter and I'm beyond excited! I'm from the Midwest and I thought I would have received the letter from this committee meeting by now so it was a great surprise! This is one of my top choices- the students, faculty, and staff were so awesome and I loved Grady! 😍
 
Everyone who hasn't gotten their letter yet: STEP BACK FROM THE EDGE!!! I go to Emory and haven't received mine yet either despite having been accepted weeks ago. GL everyone!

I received a call from someone on the admissions committee the night of the decision, as well as a call from a dean the next day.
 
yeah. im waiting. i thought my interview went well. i know the letter takes at least 2 weeks to get to the cold of canada loolz. frustrating definitely.
 
I got my acceptance letter on Saturday! I was pretty excited because this was my first choice.
 
Calm down guys! Just because you don't get an acceptance letter after the first admissions meeting doesn't mean you won't be accepted! A few of my classmates told me that they weren't accepted until 3 months after their interview.

Hope this eases some nerves!

Really? I feel like June mentioned something about how they weren't 100% certain they were doing one yet on our interview day. My student host told me last year's second look was pretty rushed and not well-organized, but they were going through some big admissions office changes at that time, so that definitely affected things.
 
In the packet I received it says there is a housing weekend on June 4th and 5th (but nothing about a second look weekend).
 
has anyone on the west coast, ie cali, received an acceptance letter yet?

I'm still really unclear about what people do during this 5-month Discovery phase during fourth year. Do people mostly just do research at Emory? Does anyone ever do research or anything abroad? What if you're not into research...I can't imagine what else you could do for 5 months.

Also, does anyone know anything about abroad opportunities at Emory in general? Perhaps during this Discovery phase or perhaps international rotations during third year?

I think the Discovery period will be a nice distraction from the regular med school grind. Also, this will give you a chance to dive into something you found interesting while doing the 3rd year clerkships. Doing research in a field in which you want do do your residency in will certainly not hurt with getting a good match either. From what I got from my interview, the discovery period does not need to be research, per se, but just needs to a scholarly project.

My student tour guide/interviewer did something abroad, so it sounds like if you want to do an abroad research project then you are perfectly able to.
