2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Can the emory folks please send me their POI? I'm not sure of the etiquette here. We can make trades if you want. I'm really sad about Emory, I thought I'd be a superb fit.

PS, hello everyone. i've been lurking here for a while, using the front page of this thread as a means to pretend I have some semblance of control over my life for the next month. Emory has forced me out of the darkness.

😱

Would the person that got the interview at California Berkeley be willing to PM me their POI?

Would the person who received the more recent Drexel interview PM their POI?

Has anyone heard anything negative from Drexel?

Just curious...are Canadians out there getting invites to American funded Clinical PhD programs?

Social Psychology
University of California, Riverside--phone call from POI on 01/08; phone interview on 01/16

Psychology and Social Behavior (primary specialization Health Psychology)
University of California, Irvine--phone call from admissions director on 01/10; on-campus interview 02/22

Could the people who got invites to Binghamton and Illinois-Chicago please PM me your POI? Thanks!

Well I'm a permanent resident in Cali, but completed my undergrad in Vancouver (at UBC) and I have only heard back from John Jay (where I got an invite which I am stoked about because I want to do forensic psych) so far. We will see how it goes, I'm nervous as to how they are going to convert my gpa (80% is an A- at my school) because I also did a year abroad in England (65% is an A-) but I guess it's out of my hands. I'm just hoping the profs like maple syrup.

I haven't heard from any U.S. schools. I will ask my friend tomorrow too because she's also applied to a bunch of U.S. schools.

Hey Canadians,

I have heard back from 2 American schools, but I am still waiting to hear from all of my Canadian schools...anyone had any better luck on the other side of the border?

I applied mostly to Canadian schools, and I've only heard back from Queen's (but that was really really early in December). I'm excited/terrified to check my email and the mail every day.

I'm glad there are others out there who visit this forum who applied to Canadian schools.

Has anyone else heard anything?

I got an e-mail from my poi at Binghamton on 1/15....haven't heard anything from Clark...can those who got interviews at clark pm me their poi's please

Speaking of Canadian schools...I was going to apply to McGill's PhD in Counseling Psych program...then I saw that the app fee was $100....I was like...oh no, I can't afford that for one school!

Could those of you who heard from Illinois-Chicago PM me your POI? It was one of my very top choices so I'm still hoping to hear!! Thanks!

Yes, most Canadian schools are at least $100. Plus $20 for each school to send GRE scores... it's completely insane. Money-making racket if I've ever seen one.

Anyone hear anything from Fordham???

I'm also waiting to hear from Virginia Consortium, Virginia Commonwealth, Suffolk, Feinberg, Loyola in Maryland and PCOM (does rolling admissions). Anyone hear anything from these schools? I guess hearing nothing is better than being rejected. I know Suffolk said they aren't e-mailing anyone until Mid February. I guess they like to keep everyone in the dark.

As far as yeshiva goes they said they will be inviting people until the end of February.

hi. can anyone who received a university of pittsburgh or a vanderbilt invite PM me your POI? it would be greatly appreciated. thank you!

Can anyone who has heard from Clark PM me their POI

Im pretty sure that UIC wont send them until end of the month beginning of next month. That one person had a screen from UIC from their POI but that was it, we have a little while longer on them.

Fordham could be any day now, lets just hope we are on that mass email from the DCT list, BUT they too tend to have 400-500 applicants, so best of luck to us all.

i also got a really early invite but the interview is still a few weeks away. i don't know what to expect since we have that group meeting. has anyone heard anything about it?

Totally agree, I actually spent much less on american school applications (also have to thank the strong CDN dollar for both school fees and the GRE scores). All of the Canadian ones were cash-grabs in my opinion at 90, 95, or 100 each plus the 20/GRE and 10/transcripts, some of which wanted two. Which is why I was very selective with them and only chose 5 in Canada with high research interest matches.

Since the CDN$ is so strong now, they should be lowering the app fees here to something more close to what US schools charge.

Yes what is this group meeting? Any ideas? Has anyone done the yeshiva phd interview before?

Has anyone heard from....?
1) Georgia State
2) UAB-Birmingham
3) Louisiana State University
4) University of Washington-Seattle
5) Yale

The waiting is the worst part! Thanks in advance for your help!

I'm embarrassed to admit how many times I checked my email today...

Any U Maryland CP invite getters up to sharing their POI with me?

If you PM me, I can tell you mine first if that helps.

Someone heard from VCU today.

Can those who heard from U. of Denver's Child clinical Ph.D. program say whether they applied for a Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience specialization or not? I'm still holding out hope. 🙁

Was it by e-mail or phone? Was it a mass e-mail or by poi? Thank You!

Hi,
I was just wondering if anyone could send me the link for grad cafe. I found the site but I need the link where everyone is listing what graduate schools they have received invites from.

How did you get an invite so quickly? Their deadline was Jan 4th and the admissions office was closed for the two weeks prior.

Official invitation to interview at Fordham just received via email from DCT. Dates: Friday 1/29, Wednesday 2/3, and Friday 2/5.

Could the person(s) with an invite from UNLV please send me a PM with their POI? Thanks much!

Ugh, should I count myself out for Fordham?? 😡

I'm of the belief that you should never count yourself out unless you get a formal rejection. I think this thread helps in letting you know which schools to prioritize (e.g., if you're not scheduling another school's interview invite in an attempt to hold out for another school that you may not hear from).

Although Fordham's interview dates are pretty soon - (the DCT even apologizes for that in the e-mail) - they are first come first serve. I would imagine, as with other schools, if someone turns down an interview because they just can't make it or have conflicts they could always invite more (even if short notice).

Updated! Note on the Notre Dame program

They have just started a clinical program going up for accreditation next year it sounds like (just graduated a class). However, if they are not accredited by the time you are up for graduation, you can choose to have the APA accredited counseling phd or the non clinical one.

Sorry for any confusion! There is now a clinical spot up on the website as well!

Will the people who have received Utah and Northwestern Evanston in-person interview invites please PM me your POI? Anyone know if these schools are still sending them out? I had a phone interview with Utah but I guess did not get to the next step if they are finished.. Good luck everyone!

Hi,
I know some of us are starting to feel disheartened because we haven't received invites or we haven't received them from our number one school. I wouldn't give up all hope maybe the school of our choice will call or e-mail us soon. Maybe the schools that have asked us for an interview are the ones we are supposed to be excited about and where we belong.

Could whoever got invited to Northwestern Evanston maybe tell futureapppsy if you got the invited from your POI or whether it was a mass email? i am dying to know!

Yeah I got the email from the DCT too! I will PM you who i want to interview with later, they are interviewing for all 4 subspecialities on those 3 days. i cannot go to the first date in january cause of another interview but I plan on doing the wednesday date.

I am surprised about getting the interview tbh over 500 people apply so the odds of getting one feel slim.

Note: The email said this was the first round of interviews.... so maybe they do a second wave if they dont fill their spots? idk

Hey - congrats to you too!

Though correction - the email said "Our first round of application reviews is now complete..." . Unless I missed it somewhere, they didn't say 'first round of interviews'.
