2009-2010 Grad School Interview Invite Thread!

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Just got an invite to the Georgia State clinical program via the Administrative Coordinator! That makes 3 invites and counting!! The interview is scheduled on 2/15 or 2/19.

Um well the first mass invite (the "incorrect one") went out at 11:29am on Jan. 22nd. The corrected version arrive that same day at 4:54pm. They had to correct a link in the e-mail so apparently sent out a 'recall' on the original one - I guess people freaked out, so they sent out another e-mail saying they were just correcting the info. but that those people did have the interview. I'm guessing whoever called also got information that they hadn't included everyone they should have on the invite. Anyway - as I said, later that day the official one arrived. As to whether they meant they are sending out *other* invites on top of that last one... I don't know.

I talked the administrator for the Suffolk program this morning and she said that while some invites had gone out, there are still more to be sent out. They plan to send them all by Feb 5.

Hey everyone,

I just found this site and this is great (but also bad for my blood pressure). This doesn't necessarily pertain to just the University of Washington but when I applied to their behavioral neuroscience program 3 years ago, I didn't get a phone interview until around mid-March and an in-person interview until April. During the phone interview, the PO1 said he noticed I lived only a few miles from Seattle so asked if it would be easy to come meet the faculty. That being said, for many schools and programs depending on where your location is in relation to the school could also make a difference on when you get an interview. Some programs may prioritize notice for applicants who may need more time to prepare flights, hotel, etc.

I'm am also anxiously awaiting to hear back from 11 schools for both clinical and experimental programs. I was bummed to find out that U of Oregon already sent out invites so my fingers are crossed that they aren't done yet....

There might be a third! UVM typically interviews 3 candidates for each POI. And, I will see you there too (but I know through the pipeline that we do not have the same POI).

yeah I think I know your POI and your competition 🙂 should be a fun little trip to vermont.... so all Vermont interviewees know, I am Justin Perry, maybe we will meet, feel free to come up to me and say "Hi AlaskanJustin"

🙂

Congrats! Was it a mass email, or does it look like invites are going out individually?

It is hard to tell because I was blind copied the email, so I cant see who else it was sent to. But since I was blind copied, I assume it was also sent to others, or else there would be no need to do that. However, I think they have split the interviewees into two days, half will interview on 2/15 and half on 2/19, so I think those two groups will be sent separate emails with the appropriate dates on them. I hope that helps!

Hi
I hope we do hear something from Feinberg today but I highly doubt it. I mean the website says they were accepting GRE scores until January 18.

I'll keep my fingers crossed. :xf:

I know it says that people have received invites from the ohio University clinical-health track, but has anyone gotten an invite for the clinical-child track yet?

I am honestly going nuts over hear waiting for this invite. If anyone hears something please let me know asap so I can start the grieving process 🙁

I'm still waiting too!

Received 2 interview invites on January 22nd: Suffolk and University of Rhode Island. The Interviews will be on February 20th and February 22...I guess I'll be doing a mini-east coast tour 🙂

Mind PMing me your POIs at both schools? Or I can tell you mine. Thanks! 🙂

Has anyone heard from Wash U regarding in person invites? I had a phone interview about a week ago and still haven't heard back. It is killing me.

So UIC and UMSL people, do not fret at least until after this Friday 🙂. lets keep our heads up until then!

Justin

just received another invite today. One of my top choices and closest fits! Actually, clerical error led to me being notified about two weeks later than everyone else but I am not complaining! Not sure how typical this is but let's all hang in there, you just never know!

What school/program???

I haven't heard anything from them but I applied to Wash U but for their experimental program in Aging and Development. Has anyone heard from Wash U that has applied to any non-clinical programs?

yeah I think clerical errors should be brought to light! lol

To whomever posted the Widener invite from over a month ago -- would you shed some light on what happened? Their deadline was 12/31 but your invite came 12/24?? Thanks!

Justin

I missed the part of why we shouldn't fret until at least after Friday? I've been fretting for a while 😛

Wait, how do you know my competition? (I can guess how you know my POI). Do tell!

I think GSU must've been a mass e-mail, esp. since it was from an admin. asst. if that helps. 🙂

Interview invite at Antioch University New England for their PsyD program! Interviewing in March, I think from now until then time will slowly drag on.

Concerning UM Kansas City Counseling Psych PhD program: Interview invites will go out during the 1st or 2nd week in February. After that the interview day will be March 5th.

FYI guys: I spoke with some admin for clinical psych at Vanderbilt today (and then subsequently my POI). It sounds like all interview invites for round one have most likely gone out by now. Apparently competition was extra steep and they had a record number of apps this year. There might be a chance of some sort of second round though, so who knows!

Did you seek out your POI to ask this information? I'm wondering what the proper way to do this is. I'm wondering about another school that has been sending out invites for about 2 weeks now, but the admin says they're still going through applications. I'm thinking the admin is just saying that and am tempted to email my POI to ask them directly (in a nice way) if they've already sent out all their invites for their lab but am unsure if this is okay to do or not. Has anyone else done this?

I don't know why this hasn't been posted yet, as I sent the email a few weeks ago, but UMaine, Orono has sent out some interview invites and the interview day is Feb 22.

Really? I never got your email/PM. 😕 Thanks for letting me know!

Judging from the long list, seems like someone got an invite... Anyone know whether invites for anyone *OTHER* than King have gone out for UW's child clinical program? I hear UW takes their time getting invites out but I'm starting to think that maybe that ship has sailed...

The Wright Institute clinical Psy.D. emailed an invite 1/25 for out-of-state-applicant interview day on 3/6/10. Not sure if that was posted yet.

Has anyone heard anything from the University of Victoria? I know they were behind in sorting through applications, but I am starting to get nervous.

They are typically really slow to respond to people, so I wouldn't worry yet.

I applied there too, and if you go to their website they haven't even updated all of the profiles. I actually had a problem with my application arriving on time so I called them (this was on January 4th) and she told me that they were still sorting applications from November... wow.

So, the moral of the story is... don't hold your breath, it's going to be a while.

Thanks for the info! 👍

Oh, and Justin, I second ClinPsych's question: why shouldn't we worry about UIC?

So I'm pretty sure if you haven't heard from Yale, you are out at this point. Just heard back from my POI, who said they only accepted 4 people (I guess if those people decline they could extend more offers), and that only younger faculty were able to accept students this year in order to build their labs. My POI, in case you are interested, is Susan N-H, and she did not end up taking any students. Wish I had know that was the case before I spend over 100 bucks, but hey, oh well; I guess that's how it goes. 🙁

Congrats!! 😀 If you don't mind, could you PM me who your PI was? Or could I tell you mine? Thanks!

Hey - just wanted to pass along some "inside info" from USF. A friend (current grad student) did some investigative work for me, and apparently all interview invites are going out late on Friday Feb 5th! Which sounds like forever away, but I guess they just started reviewing applications this week. So, for what that's worth! Good luck!

Bummer 🙁 Thanks for the info. I really think that all of these schools need to give us some kind of idea of who is accepting students so we don't needlessly spend so much money applying.

Hey guys,
Just wondering if the Wash U in St Louis invite posted for today was for a phone interview? Or for an invite to their recruitment weekend? Thanks!
