I received my acceptance letter today via snail mail!

Interviewed 2/15, letter dated 2/19 (wow! that was quick!)

Tough decisions lie ahead. I surprisingly enjoyed my interview day but I still have some unanswered questions.

Good Luck to all!!!

I GOT MY ACCEPTANCE TODAY (via snail mail)!!!!!!
Interview 2/5 postmarked 2/19!!

I'm definitely coming to Meharry this summer...woohooo! 😀

Did anyone get to see the buildings? It rained on my visit so I didn't get a chance.

I was complete on November 10 with an email that said I should hear more about my status within 8 weeks. It's been almost 16 and I've heard nothing. I called Meharry twice and talked to Ms. Davis. She told me to email her and she'd try to check on it and I've emailed her twice with no reply. Has anyone else had a similar expierence and what did you do? Is there someone else at Meharry that can give some answers?

I was complete for months before I finally received an invite...I never called or anything but finally I got the email. Since it's close to the end of the interviewing season I'd probably continue to check on your status. It's a good chance they just put your app aside to invite you at a later date like they did me. Most people hear back fairly quickly.

Who's going to be at the Millenium Maxwell tomorrow for the Monday 03/01 interview?
I should be getting there in the early afternoon, hopefully we can all meet up and do dinner or something.
..Post and let us know 🙂

Hi Everyone,

Congratulations to those with acceptances already and to those who were granted an interview! I saw from a couple posts that there are unanswered questions about things. I'm a current 4th year student at Meharry and I'll be glad to field your questions via private message -- sorry, I don't check the pre-allo threads that often, so I can't promise that I'll see your question in a timely manner if you post it here.

I wish everyone who's interviewing the best of luck and congratulations to everyone!

They're getting lightning fast and extremely generous with these waitlists!!! Interviewed last week.

I was actually expecting worse, though.

Good luck to all the interviewees!! And of course, to those accepted!!! Now, I wait for you to give up your spot. :meanie:

does any one know how many pple are placed on the waitlist vs how many people are accepted? It seems like everyone is either getting accepted or waitlisted 🙁. so does anyone even get rejected after the interview or is the waitlist actually part of the rejection pool?

Do Meharry reject post-interview? I am just curious...

To the above post: not surprise that Meharry is waitlisting people because according to them, the class is pretty much full! Very very few people who interview from last week forward will get straight acceptance...waitlisting is the way they are going!

According to Mr. Graves, your interview can result in acceptance, waitlist, post-bac placement, or rejection. Maybe they really don't reject and the majority of the waitlist will end up being rejected, but for now I guess waitlist means waitlist.

This is what I gather...There are on average 100 people on Meharry's Wait list. Last year, they accept (see post below):

he [Mr. Mosley] said that 10 people have been accepted off the wait list and they have been contacted already. He was really helpful. He told me that as spots open up he tells the committee and they discuss who they want to admit.....see post# 393, last year http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?t=549529&page=8

I am not surprised at all because Meharry is the number one choice to many of those who are invited for an interview!

I hope the waitlist moves quickly. Like you said, Meharry is also my first choice mostly because of the school's mission (not many med schools have such dedicated missions)

At my interview on Friday Mr. Graves made it seem like unless you go and act crazy you won't get rejected (almost verbatim)....you'll likely hear accept, waitlist or post bac. He said the class is about half full.

However, I'm really excited about the quick turn around time...at least you won't have to wait forever like some schools which will remain nameless. It could be that you hear back quicker now because they start so soon. June 28th! 😱

Hoping to hear good news soon! :xf:

I've been accepted to Meharry and it was alright.

Is it just me or is it easier to connect with interviewees at Morehouse and Meharry?

I didn't interview at Morehouse but comparing Meharry to the other places I interviewed at....definitely!

I just received my rejection, so I guess my journey for this cycle ends now! Best of luck to all of you!

Do you think they have an idea of who they know they want to admit before the interview? Here me out. Because some ppl think they did bad and get in. At our interview everybody thought it went well. It was so laid back. And my interviewer was so fast how could they really get a could chance of how you are in 10 minutes and the person was so tired.

Your interview was 10 minutes?!?! One interviewer or two???

With regards to your theory, I would like to think that everyone going into the inteview has a fair shot. That shot is going to get slimmer as the cycle gets underway, but there's still a shot, and with chances getting slimmer, there's no room for error. Aside from schools without rolling admissions, this process favors those people who apply early, and who have stellar applications that make Adcoms want to interview right away. For those people who thought they did bad but end up getting in? It's called modesty, trying to fit in with the rest of the crowd who thought they did poorly. Or maybe they're as self-deprecating as I am and don't give themselves the credit they deserve. Personally, I thought that I was being interviewed for the Post-Bac program and got waitlisted. Reading past interview feedback, I believe people found out that they were actually interviewing for waitlist spots, which could be the case this late into things. But I don't think they know who they want to accept...the people who they end up accepting just shine a little brighter than the rest of us. But honestly, if you really love Meharry, be happy it wasn't a rejection and send in an LOI.

Well I do love the school and I was just wondering because they said that the class wasnt full on the day I went. And it was one interviewer for bout 10 minutes. Just wonder how they can get to know you in that long but Here's hoping. Maybe they know exactly what to look for.I read on the interview feedback that the student lunch was just like another interview, do ppl feel like that's true?

I doubt it...although I certainly wouldn't recommend going to the lunch and completely letting your guard down or acting crazy. I'm pretty sure that the students didn't go back and report on each of us. The MS at our table barely asked us our first names. I don't even remember all of the names of the people I ate with lol, I doubt he did as well.

Some people had really short interviews on my day. Mine was about 20-25 minutes. I agree that you probably can't learn thaaaaaat much in 10 minutes but what do we really know about the process? Maybe they can decide really quickly if you'll be a good fit for the school. However, there's way too much to each application to say that once you get an interview everyone is on an even playing field imo. That would be diminishing everything that makes us unique in our applications. This isn't to say that they invite people they wouldn't accept, but I feel they already have somewhat of an idea who/what they are looking for.

I agree with this post considering the fact that the interview invitation email said that the interview is just one of the processes used in evaluating the total profile. Hence the interview is probably used in addition to other factors which explains short interviews( to verify ur not crazy and that u fit the mission)

I was complete in Nov. and got a pre-interview hold email last week ... are there even open seats left? I was a little bit surprised to not just get a rejection from them at this point.

I received an acceptance letter in the mail today dated 03/05/2010!!

wow congrats!!! that was fast...

According to Mr. Graves the class is definitely not full everyone...he said it was about a half full on my interview day 2/26

Good luck everyone!:xf:

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say that if you haven't heard yet, mybubbles14, you've been accepted.

Don't quote me!!! I just got this....feeling.

Yeah, that's why I got the feeling. It took a week for me to find out, as well as some people I interviewed with and kept in touch with. Your week mark has passed, so I'm thinking it's a good sign.

is meharry at the top of your list?

Go inkpen!
You see that?!?!? You knocked it out of the ballpark!! CONGRATS! 😀

Thanks! Yeah during my interview day, Mr. Graves said the class was half full and we had a pretty good chance.

They are still giving out invites. I got one today but I will be withdrawing. Hopefully it helps someone out.

is meharry at the top of your list?

Sadly, it is not. I am waiting to hear from two other schools and if those don't pan out, I may very well withdraw my waitlist. I'm still not sure about that though. Not that I didn't like Meharry. I really did; I love the mission, and all of the research that is going on there, and how supportive everyone is there. But my heart connected a bit more with the other schools. And Meharry starts so EARLY!

Is it yours?

CONGRATS ON ALL THE ACCEPTANCES! Is Meharry anyone's top choice? It was definitely mine.

Yeah it was and had been for the last 2 years. So much so that I only applied to one other school. Huge risk but I stepped on faith.

😱
Wow!! That acceptance must've been all the sweeter, huh?

waitlisted! **boo** but not surprised.

Good luck everyone. I liked the atmosphere and everything but I'm still undecided. I'm still waiting to hear back from one other post-interview decision. I got into my home state school which is in the city where all of my family is so it would be a tough call if I did get pulled off the waitlist. Sadly it's not cheaper to attend my state school over Meharry so I can't use that as an excuse if I'm fortunate enough to have to make the decision. June is reaaaaaally early too! **but quietly I'm tired of working lol and ready to get back in school...👍 yay for professional students**

You'd withdraw from the waitlist if you don't get in the other schools?...and reapply again or do you have other acceptances?
