I have the same question. Anyone?
You could probably make the case for it being academic. EM physicians teach residents and have a chance to do some clinical research in addition to their duties as a clinician.

The exact same thing happened to me. I did research and took a class with one of my writers. I called them, she read through my letter and saw that I actutally took a class with them and completed my app on the spot. She was pretty nice.
Good Luck, I'm sure it will work out.
I just checked the status page and it says: "Final Decision Pending - All final decisions will be sent on March 3rd.." Do they really wait until March 3rd to send interview invites?! Have they started rejecting people yet?

this is what i got from skimming through last year's thread:
- the people who initially got offered an interview had an "under review" status until they got the interview status update. the first interview invites were sent on 9/15.
- it seems that the "final decision pending" message is a pre-interview hold, NOT A REJECTION.
i guess the best thing to do if you get that status is to be patient and hopeful. you still have a shot!
same status here. sounds like a "hold" message to me. bleh...
when were you complete?
Thanks for the info ek. By the way, how would you all interpret a "pre-interview hold?" Does it usually mean that they are waiting to compare you to a larger applicant pool, or does it mean you are kinda on the borderline of getting an interview vs. getting rejected? I know this may vary, but just wondering what you all think this means.

i do not believe that they have started to send out interview invites or rejections to anyone yet. when were you complete?
i'm still under review, but i was complete pretty late (7/28).
either way, you seem to be further along the process than most of the rest of us. good luck!

Hi, basically that spells out rejection..its a nicer way of putting it. I have a friend on the admissions committee at the school. Your application should still state complete - under review. I'm also an applicant and was really early in the cycle....I've heard back from them regarding my secondary, and interviews go out in 3-4 weeks. Hope this helps.
Uh, not necessarily....For me, I went from "Application Complete - Under Review" to "Final Decision Pending - All final decisions will be sent on March 3rd.." ....however, I checked today and now I'm back to Application Complete - Under Review" .....I've given up trying to figure these ad coms out...😴

you can. but use notepad before you copy and pasteAre we really not allowed to copy and paste our essay responses?? That would be super annoying...
Is the application going to get rid of any formatting (paragraph, etc) when I submit it?
Does anyone know if they extend secondary applications to everyone or do they evaluate the AMCAS applications first before sending invites to complete the secondaries?
This may have been answered, but where is the "check status" page? I didnt have one linked to my "complete email"
Hey Guys, I submitted a few days ago and put research down as my projected future goal because I want a career that incorporates research and patient care. I wrote a whole essay about how I want to do basic science, clinical research, and patient care. I realize now that what I was describing is actually closer to academic medicine 🙁
Do you think I should call them and ask them to change it on my application and look stupid or leave it and possibly look naive when my application is being reviewed?
If I am making a big deal out of nothing, let me know about that as well.![]()

i dont think they can officially reject until march 15 though right? if thats so then they wouldnt display that status until then and put a different, temporary one up, something like "final decision pending"That does not mean you are rejected.
Once you get rejected. Your status reads "Rejected"
It sounds cruel 🙂 but it is what it is and it actually says "rejected"
Also, with regards to the AMCAS Fee Waiver e-mail that we're supposed to forward to them-does it matter if the e-mail that I received the fee waiver notification is different from the e-mail I put down on my application? When I signed up for FAP, I gave them my personal e-mail address, which is different from the one I'm using for admissions...it won't matter, right, since the e-mail has my AMCAS ID #?
You should be fine. That's what I plan on doing. Let me know if you find out otherwise.
do you want to work in a hospital, clinic, private practice? i think that determines what you choose more than the specialty..Anybody know where primary care would go? Preventative medicine and community medicine...maybe public health?
Thanks 🙂
