poop i should have done that - I was thinking of waiting to get my grades to send an update, but looks like I might not have enough time to do that huh?

thanks for the quick response though!

I don't think we'll know for sure if sending right away would best serve you, since I've heard mixed opinions. The Dean at BU, for example, specifically wanted you to wait and think about it for a few months before you send any intent/interest letters, probably because there are those that say "you're my favorite school" to every school post-interview.

Whatever you decide, I think LOI work if they sound authentic and have substance...

I have final decision pending too. Quicky, when did you interview?

I interviewed last week and I have that final decision pending thing

10/16.. you guys are making me a little nervous

o man. i was later than you.

so you may have been the only one accepted....

im just saying.

Just checked out the 08-09 thread - it seems like your status means next to nothing at this point. Some people had "final decision pending" and then received an acceptance 12/22. There was one person that interviewed the same day as me and had "interview scheduled" all the way up until 12/18 (when it changed to "final decision pending"), and then got an acceptance email on 12/22.

Can anyone who has received an interview lately please tell the date? I'm just trying to see how far along into scheduling they are to gauge my dwindling chances.

hey guys,

interviewed about a month ago. just checked my status and it says "Final Decision Pending" and was just wondering if this is what everyone else's says post-interview.

yup, i have that too. interviewed 10/22 i think.

I'll be interviewing here for their MSTP tomorrow. I live in NYC and can talk about my research. I'm surprised to hear what they've been asking however.

Protip for pre-meds: Always ask for biz card and send a (short) thank you note that, or the next day.

Protip for NYU: manage better. The one awful thing is they give me my int date which was back to back with another school's date (didn't ask me if it was a good one for me) and then they give me my itinerary three day before. WTF?

I'm excited and would love to get in, I'm just exhausted from being on the road. What did people say they were interested in about NYU? I'm sure they're tired of hearing "b/c of Bellevue"

Haha. Mine was kinda funny. When I went into the room, my interviewer who was a pediatric cardiologist, simply said " Do you want to know more about NYU?". So he spent most of the time talking about all that NYU had to offer. We also talked about sports, NYC (where I am from) and other stuff. He obviously read my application because he kept referring to some activities and my life experiences. I think NYU interviews are just used to screen out the normal conversationalists from the socially inept ones. After that everything depends on your application.

hehe, we had the same interviewer! i had to create a profile when i saw this post. wasn't he so nice though? i absolutely love this school =) and my status also changed to "final decision pending" today. i had my interview last week (in fact very late last week, so it was a bit of a shock to see it change this quickly). cross our fingers and hope for the best :xf:

Got an interview invite last Friday, November 13. Dates offered were November 30th-December 18th.

Thats a good point - I don't feel like such a fool now. I have not sent an LOI anywhere because I am not finished interviews, but so far I feel really strongly about NYU...Thanks so much for the tip!

Interview invite today, complete 9/9. Interview dates in early december, a bit more short notice than other places.

Average MCAT, above average GPA.

Congrats! I also got an invite yesterday, complete 9/10. Really stoked for new york! Scheduled for 12/14...

From their site:
"Our interview season begins in October and concludes at the end of January. Interviews are offered via email beginning in September. The email will indicate a time period within which you are requested to schedule your interview. You will be asked to call our office in order to set-up your interview appointment. If you live at a considerable distance from New York City, we will try to schedule your interview outside of the given time period."

So since it's the end of Nov, the invite should be coming soon, very soon.

Oh man. I'm not sure whether to hold out for an interview still. My stats and overall application are decent (3.9, 36Q), but I wasn't marked complete until 10/9...and I see that people from about a month prior to that were just reviewed, and NYU's interview schedule is clearly booking up. Le sigh.

For people recently invited, whats the earliest date available?

Never mind - working again and still "under review"

And my adviser told me I had a good shot at NYU. I hope I haven't heard back yet because they haven't gotten to the late-Septembers yet.

It appears that last Fri (11/20), they sent out interview invites for completion dates around 09/09 - 09/10. The Fri prior to last (11/13), they sent out invites for completion dates around 09/03. So...if this is representative of a system of some sort, it looks like they review/invite weekly and there's about a lag time of 2 months and a few days between completion date and invite, if qualified.

But this is all pretty speculative, so take it with a grain of salt. Wow, it's pretty obvious that I have too much downtime at work today.

I think you're about right. I got complete around the first week of Sept and got invited today. Dates open for the first 2 weeks of Dec. for those who are wondering.

Congratulations! And I'm glad that my speculation is holding up...although really, I should just get back to work and stop thinking about it all. It's hard not to try to find a method to the madness, though!

So has anyone found if they are just sending out decisions on the two days they have listed (late December and March) or are they rolling? The website says rolling, but I remember hearing they would tell some people the first date and the rest in March...anyone know which one is right?

just got an interview today. complete on september 10th and i get to choose between nov 30 and dec 11

Does NYU let you know if you are rejected pre-interview? I was completed 9/8 and didn't hear back yesterday as it seems i should have. Anyone else in this situation?

Well, I'm in the situation of being complete since 7/17 and not having heard a word since. I like your situation better haha

Do they interview in January as well? Or do they stop interviewing in December? If they stop next month, how are they going to extend invites to people that have completed their application late (assuming that they do indeed have a two month lag time)

The interview til the end of January.

Their interview season is so short! They start later and end earlier but still manage to interview about the same number of students as most other schools. How does that happen?

Multiple sets of interviewees on the same day.

hey guys i'm trying to schedule my interview right now but i keep getting redirected in circles who am i supposed to be talking to? (when i call i either get redirected or put on hold then redirected what name should i be asking for?)

just got an interview here, im sort of surprised they give you such short notice on interview dates

i dont remember when I was officially complete, but i submitted by application august 17

They have only one interview per student and it is also pretty short. They can schedule way more people per day than other schools can.

Unfortunate I couldn't get the date I wanted.

I got one yesterday and was complete on 9/11...

for everyone who got an interview, I checked last year's forum and saw people getting accepted around December 22.

Is that about the time you guys think the first acceptances will go out?

From NYU's website:

"The first round of acceptance letters will be sent on December 15th."

Anyone gonna be there Tuesday?

I wonder if we would sneak into that 12/15 deadline... prolly not.

Anyone know what time the interview day starts? I have one in a couple of days (afternoon session) but she asked me to come in the morning, but I forot what time.

Was it 10:45-11am? Anyone know? Thanks!
