I am sure this question has been asked at some point, but since I did not see it, I am going to ask it anyway...

Does NYU start sending out rejections in December too?

no, only acceptances

Any updates for those who were late in the submission process? I submitted on 11/5, was recently labeled "complete", and am wondering if I should just give up hope on this school. It seems like those who were complete several months ago are only getting interview invites now. With the last interview session in mid-January, it surely doesn't seem likely that they will have enough time to review my application. It makes me wonder what the November 15 deadline is for. It seems a little misleading if one gets all of their items submitted in time and yet isn't even allowed consideration because of NYU's own processing time frame doesn't allow for it...

It has been speculated by some (and you can count me among them) that a later deadline exists simply for the purpose of revenue generation at most schools.

really? such a cynical view... i mean, i used to live in NYC and would consider NYU, basically, a degree granting real estate corporation--someday soon the baby blue from columbia and the purple from NYU will take over the island--but I'm not sure i'd go along with this.

i say stay optimistic.

not just NYU, I'd say it applies to a lot of places. It's obviously just speculation, but it's based off of the experiences of previous applicants who said apps sent in late october yielded nothing more than "sorry, we weren't able to get to your app this cycle." not always the case of course, and isn't applicable to all schools.

and he's right, if the interview season ends in january, and right now september completions are being invited for december slots, that doesn't leave a whole lot of room for the november folks unless they start tightening up the standards for the groups going forward.

I have a morning interview coming up. Does anybody know what time you are supposed to get therrre?

depends what time your interview is. I think they tell you to be there 15 minutes before your interview time.

What time do you think the earliest interview is if you selected a morning interview?

when you called, you probably selected a specific time slot. I think the earliest interviews were at 8 AM, not sure though.

Lol, as a fellow NYer, I've also heard that one a lot.

Regrdless, I'm crossing my fingers for a fat letter in December.

Sorry if this has already been answered, but does anyone know if they'll let us know online or only through mail?

Does anyone know if they accept pre-interview updates?

About $30 iirc. I took a bus/subway for a couple dollars - it's pretty easy.

thanks what does iirc stand for?

I wonder if they are both sent out on the 15th?

are we getting the 15th date from NYU staff directly? Judging by last year's thread, it seemed the first acceptances were rolled out a week later than that...a few days before Christmas.

at interview day, that's what they told us they were shooting for.

has anyone heard of any relatively recent interview invites? i have been complete for about 3 months now and have been "complete-under review" pretty much the entire time...

I got an invite last Thursday and had been complete since early August. They were inviting for this week, next week, and some days in January.

I've posted this in here before, but yeah, I'm in the same boat.

Complete since FORREEVVEER. (July)

"Final Decision Pending" C'mon guys, you don't want to take longer than Obama took to decide on Afghanistan.

my interview here was weird, Right when I sat down my interviewer asked me what I wanted to know aboout the school and asked this 3 more times. I only got to talk about myself because he asked if I wanted to add anything towards the end of the interview. So it was pretty much him answering my questions and him telling me how good of a school nyu is compared to the rest of the schools I applied to. Did anybody else have this experience? I dont know how he is going to judge me.

Essentially the same experience here.

I think other people reported having similar experiences. It sounds like it could be a good thing, in the sense that they already liked you based on your application and wanted to have the opportunity to sell the school. It could also just be the interviewer's style.

my interviewer asked me the basic questions.. why medicine and tell me about your research/volunteering etc. hope thats not a bad thing since everyone else was being sold about the school lol

yeah my interview was also pretty traditional. hopefully it's nothing negative, but I guess we'll find out in another week or two.

Anyone know what the admissions' office mailing address is? The website just gives a generic NYU Medical Center mailing address.

it seems like its just the interviewer I had and that's his style I wouldn't worry about it. Plus Idk why he would sell me the school since i have below average stats for the school and i was surprised getting the interview in the first place lol

My interviewer at NYU was actually my favorite out of anyone I interviewed with this year. He was enthusiastic, attentive, and seemed genuinely interested in learning about me. I think it ended up lasting around 45 minutes.

I have to say the NYU interview day was the best I've had this year. I really loved NYU by the time the day was over. I've learned from the cycle so far to not get my hopes up, but I'm really hoping for some good news in a week or two 🙂

yeah NYU was awesome. I think the tour guides were probably the happiest students I've met at any school thus far.

But I also know what you mean about not getting your hopes up...this can be a pretty humbling process.

do you guys think the ones who interviewed this week will have a possibility of hearing back in december?

The dean who talked with us today said no, but in a 'probably not...but who really knows' kind of way. No one at NYU seemed 100% sure of anything regarding curriculum, admissions, etc.

Can't say I got the same impression when I was there.

And, again going by last year's thread, I don't think december interviews heard back until march.

Maybe the torrential rain threw them off, but the dean did not seem to know whether or not they would be transitioning to the 18 month pre-clinic curriculum next year or not. Nor did he know what their international health program (IHP) would look like within the next year. Also, PLACE, their longitudinal clinical experience was started in November this year, but will probably be started in September next year, but they didn't know...I could go on, but maybe you got the dean who knew it all. 😉

do they really accept >50% of interviewees? it seems like a lot since they're interviewing so many people every day. mine definitely had at least 20 (md and md/phd combined though).

I wasn't really paying attention to anything about IHP, and the PLACE start-time discrepancy never really came up, but I got the impression that they were transitioning to the 18 month pre-clinical curriculum. It could just be that it's still up for discussion.

My interviewer was really chill and laid-back, and asked me only one question - "What makes you you?" The question really threw me off and I definitely stumbled a bit trying to cobble together a coherent answer, but I think it went well, and at the end of it he gave me many generous compliments on my LORs and general application so I think it went well. Definitely a quick, no-BS interview though, and while it caught me off-guard at first, it forced me to consider myself in a novel way so I'm appreciative. Hope to hear some good news soon. :xf:

Also, I second the question above - what is the specific e-mail address that we should be sending update letters to? I can't seem to find one besides the general admissions office e-mail, though that's probably where it should be sent to anyway :smack:

i just checked my secondary app page for the first time in about 2 months and it now says "final decision pending"...before it was "invited for interview" (or along those lines). interviewed in mid-nov. should i expect to hear back soon? 😀😀 anyone else have that who interviewed really recently?
