congratulations!! that's wonderful. from your mdapps it doesn't seem like you loved the school, what do you think the odds are that you'll attend?

i really liked the school, just not so much the location. although really, in med school i doubt ill have much time to enjoy the surroundings so im sure it'd be fine. if for arguments sake i got off all my waitlists, i think right now i'd lean towards going somewhere else but who knows how ill feel in a few months. penn state is a great school though and im super excited to have the opportunity to attend!🙂

I got accepted today via snail mail as well! I absolutely loved the school when I interviewed and will almost certainly be there in August.

Interviewing on the 11th, anyone else? i'm already nervous as i'm a reapplicant without any prior interview experience... all it takes is one though

nah i don't think thats necessarily a bad thing. sometimes that just means your interviewer didn't get their write up in and you app got pushed back to the next adcom meeting.

I interviewed 9/21. I'm honestly not sure whether your not hearing back yet is necessarily a bad thing - it might just mean that your interviewer hasn't been able to make any adcom meetings yet. Don't lose hope!

Hey guys. I'm currently an MS1 here. The turnover time after your interview will take about 6 weeks, so dont worry if you havent heard from them yet.
Our entire hospital system here is integrated, so the adcom only meets once a month. But the admission staff is very friendly and will be able to answer your questions. But because of the schedule of the adcom, I suggest you sit tight for at least 4 weeks post-interview before you start freaking out or bombarding the office with emails and phone calls.

And interviews go on throughout April, so even if you were complete back in June, you might not get an interview invitation until March or so. Don't freak out, thats just how the application process goes. Trust me...you'll be glad when the whole process of applying to medical schools is over.

I don't understand how the integration of the hospital system and the adcom meeting frequency are related? Sorry if I'm being dense...

The hospital and medical school are one entity...aka the medical school is not 'separate' from the hospital. So the dean who runs the hospital also has a hand in the medical school...and running a hospital is no easy task

wow. i'm at the Day's Inn Hershey for my monday interview.

i think i'm literally the only asian person in this whole city.

this place is such a rural area (well... all of pennsylvania pretty much is)

anyone want to meet up and become friends? i think i'm going to be bored to death here for the next 2 days. lol :scared:

Why on earth did you arrive so early?

Anyway, there is a Chinese restaurant near Panera. It's half decent, but more importantly, you aren't alone.

You just missed me (I'm asian too). I checkout of Days Inn today. I agree, it's really boring and rural in Hershey. Perhaps use the gym or checkout the Hershey Factory?

Hello,

What is the address of the Days Inn that people are staying in?

Also, does anyone have any travel advice for a trip to/from nyc? I am planning on taking the train to Harrisburg and hopefully a bus, cab, or shuttle from a hotel to Hershey. Any advice would be great.

Thanks!

hey im planning to do something similar. actually for the days inn, dont even worry about bus/cab, just call them in advance and they will send a shuttle to the airport (and presumably train station? call and ask) free of charge. in regards to the train station, i know theres a station in new york called 'penn station' that receives trains from harrisburg. i am actually planning to fly into harrisburg, interview, then take the train to NYC. but my interview is a month after yours.

i think this is the address:

350 W Chocolate Ave, Hershey, PA‎ - (717) 534-2162‎

its the only one in hershey.

btw anyone interviewing on dec 7? want to share rides etc.

why aren't they interviewing me?

complete in august
3.45/34Q
loads of clinical experiences
lots of research work
current MS student

why ? =[

That's what I was assuming. Thanks!

And I went ahead and bought the penn station-Harrisburg and will inquire about a hotel shuttle when I book my room. Thanks again.

Kidding aside, good luck to you! :xf:

Interview Invite this morning via email. 😀 Waiting for my lunch break to call and schedule. Complete 10/7. Will post when my interview is when I find out!

Interview scheduled for Dec. 7th. There was a slot available for Dec. 2nd but that's a Wednesday and I'm trying to miss as little work as possible. Linda, the lady I interviewed with is SO sweet and very helpful. Good luck to everyone!

I will. The Days Inn will pick/drop off students up at the Harrisburg Amtrak station between the hours of 8-4pm. They will also shuttle students to/from interview (Office of Student Admissions on the first floor of the Biomedical Research Building).

I will let you know how it goes.

great interviews. great school.

don't think i could get over the location, though.

yeah i talked to two ladies when i scheduled (Linda was on the other line at the time) and i was absolutely impressed with how friendly they were. probably the friendliest admissions office people i have talked to.

i thought i sent a great app to penn state
its so sad that they dont accept update letters!

Totally agree. They are so sweet! They were giving me little tips and stuff when i scheduled. She's like make sure you bring a little toothbrush so you can freshen up before you interview! such a sweet lady! cant wait to go there monday!

just got a letter stating that I am on "continue to review" list. Not sure if it is a disguised rejection? How can I get off this list and get into interview invite list? bug them? It definitely does mean that they were not dazzled by my application to give me an interview. Depressing.

by the way does this university even reject anyone pre-interview? Or everyone gets that naive "continue to review" letter?

accepted today via snail mail!!!:-D

When was your interview? I interviewed 3 weeks ago, and I'm dying to hear back from them! I know they say it will take 6-8 weeks, but I hear that some people get an acceptance after four or five.

I interviewed 9/21 and heard back 10/28, so a little over 5 weeks. I hope you hear back soon, good luck!!🙂

Submitted 8/31 and still not complete...do you think it's time to give them a call?

What does your status page say? They never told me I was complete, but one day it just showed up on my status.

yeah, same here... I never got a complete email or anything... my status page just switched to "complete" and then I got an email inviting me to schedule an interview

It still says : "Our records indicate that your Secondary Application has been received, but it has not been determined whether your application is complete or not at this time. Once that determination has been made, you will be notified via email" 😕

Anyone else interviewing 11/11?

btw, anyone know the easiest/cheapest way to get from the airport to the days inn?

i know they offer a free shuttle but that's only if you arrive within a specific time-frame, and my flight won't be in until after that.

I took the taxi, and it was $25.

I interviewed here today.

Really nice people in the front office: Janice and Linda

Here are some stats from last year for you curious folks

7000 Applications via AMCAS, 5836 secondaries completed, 929 interviewed, 145 accepted.

How many total acceptances they awarded was not disclosed. But the med students say there is a huge waitlist movement each year.

--

If you interview, schedule it for the morning. You are more likely to get Dr. Jeffreys who is a totally down to earth and awesome guy.

And yes...it smells of chocolate outside.
aww i already scheduled it for the afternoon. but i am going this monday 11/9. wish me luck!
