For those of you who got accepted (or interviewed), did you guys send out LOI's? Does Penn State accept LOI's?

Mind telling me what the acceptance envelope looks like? Is it navy blue?

it was a big envelope with about 5-6 papers in it. i think it was just a regular tan colored envelope? i don't really remember😳

I didn't. i did send thank you's to my interviewers but that's it.

I also don't really remember what the envelope looked like (too much adrenaline), but I also did not send a LOI. I sent thank you letters to my interviewers, and made sure that they knew during the interview that I really love the school. My totally uninformed opinion is that LOI's can't hurt, so I would send one.

Ahhhh!! This wait is killing me. I'm slated to hear back this week or next week.

should I send them in area email as I will be visiting the city ... I have received the letter "continue to review"

I doubt that will help. Their admissions office isn't very good with up to date stuff. They have as mentioned earlier, 15 reviewers, and I'm almost positive the ladies at the front desk would more likely be annoyed by a Letter of Intent. Some schools seem to be welcome to these things, Penn State doesn't really sound like they matter.

In earlier posts, people mentioned that by calling for a status update, the admissions office didn't even have the capability to do so. It seems like they have 2 or maybe 3 older ladies working in the office (very nice) but not tech savvy.

has anyone whose submitted on or after 9/2 been marked complete?

8/31 and still not complete...I think I'll try calling them if I don't hear by Fri though from earlier posts, I'm not sure how much good that will do...

well i submitted my secondary around 7/24 and my undergrad sent in my LOR really late so I was probably complete around 9/10-9/12 but I never got an email about it. I checked the status on the website and it says:

Our records indicate that your application is complete, and is currently being reviewed by the Admissions Committee. You will be contacted by mail and/or phone during the next several weeks with its decision.

So, what's there to do in hershey? just checked into the days inn... anyone else in the same boat?

lol, i didn't know red robin exists elsewhere... i worked there for 2 years in california, pretty much everything on the menu is amazing

absolutely nothing to do in Hershey. If you can somehow get to Harrisburg, you might have a better shot at finding some decent bars and whatnot.

submitted 8/26 // complete 11/10 (today) ... i have no idea what took so long?!?

Agreed. Yea, it's right next to the entrance to Hershey Park.

Has anyone gotten accepted without sending a thank you note to their interviewer? b/c i never got my interviewers contact info and i wouldnt want them to be offended that i didnt send them a thank you letter/email.

I got both of my interviewer's contact info but then I was just like, ahhhh screw it and didn't send thank you notes. I'll let you know how it turns out in a couple weeks.

Do med schools usually ask for your senior year transcripts? because mine are looking like crap and i hope they dont. Like, I remember when applying for college I still had to send my senior year transcript to my college. Does it still work like that for med school? just curious.

Did you get the Certiphi Background Check in your e-mail prior to receiving the envelope?

I was accepted a few weeks ago and still haven't received the background check email. So, to answer your question, nope.

I'm on pre-interview hold list (I thought I had a decent shot at getting an interview here...) Does a significant number of ppl come off that list and get an interview, and possibly acceptance?

Just out of curiosity: did anyone receive that email about the interview day evaluation that they said they were going to send 1-2 weeks after the interview? Not that I'm dying to fill it out, but I'm just wondering if anyone actually got that, because I haven't, and it's been over 3 weeks.

I think I did.

They said to send admissions an email if you dont get it w/in 1-2 weeks.

i sent mine on 8/19 and am still not complete..

it's ok, hang in there. i submitted mine 8/27 and was marked complete today (11/12). it's very frustrating because i called every week this month and most of last month to see what the hold up was! apparently they're very slow?

got back from my interview last night... all i can say is it's VERY laid back... the interviewers were really talkative and made it a LOT easier (and this is coming from a rookie interviewee)... one of them asked a few questions about my amcas and the other really just talked to me a bit, not many typical med-school oriented questions...

really liked the school/hospital, nice to know they're expanding too... and COL is like 1/4th of what it would be here in CA... only downside is there being no real *night life*

I just got the email saying I was complete about 5 minutes ago (strange it came on a friday night...)

haha I submitted september 5th I believe so that only took a little over 2 months....

I love Penn states program and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for an interview!

sorry for the double post but about how long after being marked complete did people get invites?

Got the complete e-mail too. Finally!

I am ecstatic to say that I just received an interview invite from Penn! For those who are curious:

Submitted: 8/21
Complete: 10/26
Invite: Friday the 13th....

Good Luck to all those still waiting 👍 This was totally unexpected for me.

I'm assuming you meant Penn State. I was complete on 10/28 so hoping to hear about an interview soon. When were the earliest available interviews?

Ha! Yeah, Penn State, sorry. I haven't called them yet to set up the interview, so I am not sure about the dates of availability. It looks like they want you to schedule within 6 weeks of the invitation though, so hopefully I can get in before the new year.

Sorry if this has already been answered - I get the schools policies confused sometimes -

Do interview invites come via e-mail or snail mail? I have a friend who works in the mail distribution center here who told me I have a letter coming from Penn State, but I haven't gotten any e-mails. Rejection, I'm assuming?

Interview invitations come via email, but I think continue to review holds come via snail mail.
