Hey guys,

I received an email about the backrgound check two days ago also. No word from PSU yet. Hope it's good!:luck:

Has anyone received the background check email that was placed on a waitlist post-interview?

I did, but it could have been due to a couple other schools as well.

Just got invited to an interview! I never thought I would! Any advice?😍

congratulations, great way to start the new year!!

Take a look at the interview feedback, keep in mind their interviews are very conversational, not stressful at all;

During my experience i found that they were more inclined to just get to know me than to ask specific *med-school* oriented questions... I didn't get a why do you want to be a doctor, why penn state, what field do you want to enter questions... I just got questions about myself my life my experiences, etc.

I had a PhD for one of my interviewers, and it was still very laid-back, maybe I got lucky? But i found that it was very relaxed and easygoing, I mean i still went in nervous as hell and stressed out, but once we started talking I just went with the flow...

I suppose I won't know how i did until i get the letter in the mail though...

This depends on your interviewers. Mine were not conversational or laid back at all. Had 2 MDs who read straight from AMCAS and asked all the med school questions "Why a Dr. Why now, Why Penn?" Got grilled on very spcific grades and courses.

Just got my acceptance letter!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations! Guess I have a while to wait.. interviewed right before Thanksgiving here.

Anyone else here interviewing 1/25?

i think they send letters out based on when your interviewer gets back to the admissions committee and then the committee has to vote on your entire application.

I'm interviewing 1/25. Does anyone know how many people there are at given interview day?

I had about 6-7 in the morning and there were another 7ish in the afternoon, but the students/dean mentioned that we were a rather big interview group

So is there a Penn State Class of 2014 Facebook group? I tried looking but never found anything...

believe me as soon as i get that letter i'll start one if there isn't one...

uuggh! after 9 weeks of waiting, i just got a post-interview hold! Is there any chance of getting in or is there no more hope for me???

A hold isn't a rejection so don't lose hope, check out last year's thread to see what happened to others placed on hold. Did this letter come via e-mail or snail-mail?

Ugh I got the hold letter too. Interviewed early December

hold... f m l

sorry to hear that man... seems like psu was one of your top choices, so I really hope things work out! did they ever say anything about the chances of coming off hold post-interview? I don't remember them mentioning that at all when I was there

top choice, only choice, only chance... take your pick...

I don't have it in me, mentally or financially, to apply a 4th time... this may be it for me if I don't get in somewhere, i mean i still have a few schools alive but no other interviews and i don't really believe in the "no news = good news" theory once new years has passed...

good luck to the rest of you still waiting

to those of you who received the hold snailmail today...are you on the east coast or the west coast? Keep your heads up, its not over til its over! I'm still waiting to hear back from my interview in November.

west coast, letter dated Jan 6

From last years thread looks like there isn't much movement on the hold list... there is some after May 15 of course but not as much as most schools. We're in for a long ride...

Just got rejected pre interview from Penn State...I'm more than a little disappointed since I thought I would have been really competitive for this school (3.91 cGPA 3.95 Sci GPA and a 30R)

At least i'm still alive at other schools (Still waiting on a final decision post interview from umaryland, my state school).

Oh well just goes to show you that nothing is certain in the admissions process...

Best of luck everyone!

Hold here as well (interviewed early November). Would you mind posting this thread? Thanks 🙂

Perhaps this is the wrong place, but for the PPM program in conjunction with Jefferson state, how large is the incoming class? How many are selected to interview? (PPM is a six year bs/md program at Penn State w/ Jefferson)

My son invited for interview on 1/18/2010 10.30 am Anyone on that day. We are at Baltimore, MD just less than 2h drive. Any one is in Baltimore (around UMBC) and want ride, let me know.

Anyone else receive a CBC post interview who was waitlisted?

I got a background check request email this morning. The AMCAS website seems to say that at this point those requests are only sent to acceptances. I hope my reading is right and I hope that's good news to some folks (Penn State's the only CBC school I've interviewed at!).

I read this webpage: http://www.aamc.org/students/amcas/faq/background.htm

And found this quote:
"The AAMC has initiated an AMCAS-facilitated national background check service, through which Certiphi Screening, Inc. (a Vertical Screen® Company) will procure a national background report on early decision program applicants at the point of acceptance and all other applicants at the point of acceptance after January 1st. In addition, beginning in May of each year, a national background report will be procured for a subset of applicants who are on a participating school's alternate list; medical schools will not receive such reports until the point of acceptance."

I received my CBC notification about a week before I received my acceptance letter from Penn State! Hope to see you there!

My son has first interview. Any supporting papers and folder is needed to carry for interview?

Are they still handing out interviews invites here? Just seeing if its worth the 8 bucks to send my official fall transcript as they require, don't want to send it if they are finished.

Anyone who interviewed around week of November 16 hear anything yet?? 😕
