Any HL students that have heard anything yet or who know how the HL works?

Interviewed 2/24, put on hold 3/18. In the letter it says they will re-evaluate me based on what is presently in my file. Would it hurt to send a LOI???

As far as I know, Penn State is not accepting any LOI or update except official transcript.

I've decided I don't want to leave my husband behind in NC this fall but he won't be stationed there by next fall. I might actually cancel my interview if they never allow deferring.

Yes they do. Deferred from last year.

Hey guys, I'm declining my acceptance at Penn State-- I hope someone who really really really loves PSU gets the spot. :luck:

Thanks for your quick decision. It will help some one who is waiting for Penn State. Good luck to you !!

Anyone know if the interview season is over?

I'm not 100% sure but I believe their interview season went up until the end of march... again i'm not positive, but that's what I heard from more than one person.

everyday I hope and pray to see an AAMC e-mail in my mail box.

To all those accepted:

Does the CBC email always arrive before an acceptance letter or could it come after...?

I was put on hold (pre-interview) a few months ago and haven't heard back since. Sounds like they are done interviewing. Can I assume this is a silent rejection? I would have really liked a formal rejection letter/e-mail instead...

So anyone hitting up second look day? I'm really pumped for it and was wondering who else was going. If this is the wrong place to ask let me know.

Also, all the folks on the waitlist keep your hopes up! I think there will be a fair amount of movement (just my opinion) 🙂:xf:🙂

On another note, can anyone tell me the downside of Penn State? I love the school, and I feel like everyone only has good to say about it, but it has to have some negatives. I was wanna know if anyone could give me an idea just so I'm not surprised when/if I run into them.

i'll be there!🙂

for me, the biggest negative is the middle-of-nowhere location. i guess it must allow stuents to really focus on studying though since there aren't many distractions! anyone know how far it is from the undergrad campus? i wonder if any med studets attend football games.

It's an 1:40 from main campus. On football saturdays it will be quite a bit longer.

The day I went for my interview was in the week of the PSU vs. Ohio St game and I know med students were going to that. The bad side of this is our first year we are either seen as freshmen or have no status at all (i forgot which) in terms of standings for getting student tickets, but our second year we are seen as Grad students and should have better chances (i specifically asked this during the student tour )

After this year student seats are being moved entirely behind the endzone, so freshman or grad status won't matter very much. Grads and seniors used to have seats ranging from the 20-40 yard line. Money talks and alumni not students have it.

i checked next year's psu football schedule and the only interesting game is michigan state vs psu

the year after, ohio state AND michigan play at happy valley so... yeah i think a year without status is great for a crummy schedule haha

Where'd you check them? We play Michigan at home next year. Don't play them at all in 2011. Also, we have Alabama at home in 2011.

Hi,

When is the first day of orientation? as in, when is the first day we have to report to campus? I found the 2009 orientation schedule, but nothing for 2010.

once the schedules are finalized, they will be made available online for students. I was planning a trip for the spring semester during the fall, and i had to visit the office of medical education and look at an unofficial timeline of the spring schedule. It was entirely subject to change. I suspect that you can expect to see a very similar start date as the entering class of 2009 had for their orientation week. Because the schedule for first years will still include the same amount of weeks of anatomy and of Cell/Molecular Bio...so there really isn't much wiggle room of when you can start (being that you get a 2 week break for winter).

I have not heard anything yet, interviewed on the 2/24 also

-should I call them and ask? its been over 6 weeks

May 15 deadline is approaching in one month. Many people having multiple acceptance will slowly withdraw and Hold list will move further. Please report here if
1. you are accepted from the Hold list
2. You are already accepted and withdrawing from Penn State
3. You are on Penn State Hold list and withdrawing.

Thanks.

At any school but Penn State in particular do you think it's better or worse to be "On-Hold" or WL?

At least with HL you still could be outright accepted before being WL or rejected

I didn't get a formal rejection letter until half way through August when I had already started classes at another medical school. Don't hold you breath, make other plans.

No one recently from SDN has gotten accepted. They need to start cranking out more acceptances.

Anyone heard of any movement off the waitlist recently? I was waitlisted a few weeks back and haven't heard anything since. Anyone know if they accept LOIs?

Waitlisted since November. No communication from Penn State since. 😕

For those of you who interviewed at Hershey,

Could you please tell us how they did things and how it went in general? Also, How many people did you interview with? I'm just curious and am putting a little more energy into Hershey as this would be my first choice school.
