Congrats to you!! ..... doesn't look good for me though considering I was complete 9/17 and still nothing...

Has anyone been rejected pre-interview yet? Or is Rush one of those schools that waits to send out mass rejections later in the year?

I'm pretty sure Rush is the latter. I think they just send you a rejection email around March, April if they haven't still invited you for an interview.

Hey SoxGirl, What are your stats, if you don't mind sharing. I was complete on 09/09/09 and I still haven't heard anything.



FYI, I have 3.65 and 35Q. I also have some volunteering, shadowing and research but I currently research full time at Rush so I'm not sure what raised a flag?

I was having a horrible day today (and losing hope in general due to lack on interview invites), and then I got the fabulous email this morning!

Complete 8/24
Invite 10/30
Interview 1/6 (they only gave me one option in December and one in January, which I thought was weird)

Anyway, good luck to the rest! I'm excited!
 
im getting so fed up with rush, theyre invites are in no particular order, theyve started so damn late, and now their interviews are in january.

Yeah I was surprised by the January interviews too.

Is Rush $12k/year better than UIC? Anybody know how the two schools compare besides for facilities?

Hey everyone, so I have my Rush Interview on November 11th... Got invited about 2-3 weeks ago and I have a few questions...

Is getting a Rush interview rare? It seems that no one has interviewed yet (I was looking for some school-specific interview advice on here but haven't found any). I was told by my friend who attends Rush that once you get an interview you have a high chance of getting in as well because they're selective for their interview process.

Also, does anyone know the first day of interviews for Rush? I was offered the dates of November 4th or November 11th.

Finally, any general interview/academic advice for the school?

I think they just started to interview on October 28th (late I know) but I am just going on what I've been reading.... Anyone else offered an earlier date?
 
Hmm... I just got offered my interview the other day and the only options they gave me were the first week in December and the first week in January... I wonder why they were so far away if everyone else has been getting november dates? is it because I'm OOS? I hope it doesn't mean that they are just interviewing me for a waitlist spot :/

Same situation, except i'm in-state. The site said that November was not an option/not available...?

(My file was marked complete early October)
 
I officially withdrew today. I wish I had the money to see this awesome school, but this process has made me broke as a joke. Hopefully one of you guys get my interview :xf:
 
no new invites posted in over a week... lets hope they'll dish some out in the next few days. anyone know when their ADCOM meets? It seems like invites are being sent out at the very beginning or at the very end of the months.
There were invites sent out at the end of September and beginning of October and again at the end of October... nothing so far in November. Any ideas?

That is correct. I have a friend that is a resident at Rush and he said that was the first day of medical student interviews.
 
My application was complete 10/15 (I know, kinda late) but has anyone else who was complete around this time heard any news?

I was complete 9/26 and haven't heard any news yet, either. Hopefully this isn't a bad sign...

I think Jill said we would hear back in 3 weeks at the very earliest, though this isn't likely. She said to expect a decision more towards 4 weeks from your interview date.

They said expect anywhere from 4-6 weeks, however, I have a friend who heard back in 2.5 weeks last year.

Jill also hinted that the committee meets on Wednesday, but I'm not entirely sure.
 
i think im gona send a "in the area" email to their ad-com for the weekend of dec 4th. bc i will be. ha

any thoughts?

I got to talk to Jill at the end of the day for a while (by the way...she's the best) and she told me that the adcom doesn't really "meet". The people on the committee vote online for applicants post-interview and don't actually get together face-to-face. She didn't explain the exact formula as to how many votes you need to get an acceptance but I wouldn't expect one day of the week where decisions are handed down. It seems like it could be anytime.

I sent an 'in the area' email 3 days ago and just got this reply today:

Dear remi23

Thank you for applying to Rush Medical College. While we appreciate your desire to coordinate interviews whenever possible, the Committee on Admissions has not yet made a decision on your application. If you are invited for an on-campus interview, however, be assured that you will be given a range of dates from which to choose.

Don't worry too much! I read on previous threads that it doesn't really depend too much on the day you interviewed, more on your interviewers and they turned in their evaluations early or later on. That's why it can take anywhere from 3-6 weeks. You interviewed the first day, your chances of getting in are high, I'm sure you'll be fine! =)

I interviewed the 28th too and haven't heard anything. I wouldn't worry! 🙂
 
sorry for making some people a bit worried from the 10/28 group. it definitely doesn't mean anything bad if you haven't heard yet. just keep thinking those positive vibes!
 
Yeah they told us (11/11 interview) that even if you interview on the same day as some one, you find out at different times because it all depends on when the interviewers turn in their evaluation forms... Once those forms are turned in, they can then discuss it at the committee, and THEN come to the decision.

Also, just some statistics Jill told us while we were there:

Rush receives approximately 6,700 primaries
They then receive approximately 3,700 secondaries
Then then predict they will give out 375 interviews
From there they estimate they will give 250 offers
And that will result in a class size of about 120-130

These are the predictions/estimates they gave us for the year... So that could put things into perspective a bit more
