Congrats! I guess Rush is finally moving... I sound like a broken record, but when did you complete?

I submitted mid-August, I was complete about a week later. I'm in-state, and they notified through e-mail

man . . . i was so excited that i finally got "COMPLETE" and then I come on here and you all have interviews!!!

. . . maybe i can get one now that i am F I N A L L Y complete!!!! 😀

I am just getting around to this secondary, and I know it is late but I'm hoping for some advice. What do they mean by problem-solving abilities? Working in a group to address a task? Handling interpersonal conflict?

I'm IS as well and added them late (this week)...just got the secondary and plan on submitting it by tomorrow at the latest. When did they start interviewing? Or for those of you who recently got invites...when are your interviews scheduled for?

for those of you who recently got invites...when are your interviews scheduled for?

I picked October 28, it was the soonest available. Only two dates were offered, both Wednesdays. Anybody else interviewing then?

They are getting their invites out late... I hope I get some good news from Rush next week!

Hello Everyone,

I just started as an M1 at Rush this year year so if you have any questions feel free to ask! 🙂

Also don't be too worried if you don't hear from Rush forever. Last year I was complete beginning october, interview invite end of feb for mid march (2nd to last day) and heard the good news 2 weeks later. At the end of the cycle they are still interviewing for actual spots in the class so try to relax a little bit 🙂 and goodluck to everyone!

Interviewing Oct. 28 too, do you know if we get confirmations via email or snail mail.

I got my confirmation through e-mail. Looks like they have student hosting for anyone out of the area!

Interview invite! Yay!! First one so I'm super psyched, does anyone know the stats on how many people interview during this time of the year and how many get in? And does anyone know how tough this interview is, or is it more laid back?

As for all those waiting, I DO NOT have stellar stats at all, so DON"T WORRY OR LOSE HOPE!!

when were you complete? and are you in state, or out of state?

i was complete on august 24th, yet to hear anything.

has anyone heard back from Rush, who were complete AFTER the 24th?
I was complete on the same day, IS. Nothing either.

Ya i was complete 8/7.. basically as early as it gets and in state. Not looking good.

Hehe, according to the MSAR, Rush accepts far less than 10% with our MCAT scores or above. :smack:

I'm IS, was complete 8/24 and received an interview invite this morning!! i'm soooo excited 🙂

Interview invite this morning. Submitted secondary 8/30, but RMC spent a few weeks diddling with my LORs (which were in to AMCAS July 5th).

3.45 GPA/35Q MCAT, in state

Interview Invite on a Saturday. Man, they must be working overtime. Congrats!!

Woo hoo, got my invite early this morning via email! I was complete 9/29 so I guess it didn't take them as long to get to me. I'm also out of state so I feel very fortunate to receive an interview here so soon.

Got interview invite! YAY! 😀

Meh. Ah well. I can't complain, but I would like to know if I'm on hold, under review, invited, rejected, etc.

No in-state love for months?

Yes. That's why I definitely can't complain. I am in no way unhappy with how my cycle's going. I just want that to be clear. I am extremely grateful and fortunate and wish everyone here the best.

I also meant "no in-state love" in terms of in-state from Rush, not in terms of not hearing back from any school in-state.

Just wanted to put any whining/asking for sympathy myths about me to rest and I genuinely am cheering for all the regulars on this thread.

Go Bears? lol

I'll be here on Nov 18. Was invited a few weeks ago. From everything I've seen and heard, Rush seems like an amazing place!

Anyone else gonna be there on Nov 18?

(and I don't think the Loyola/Rush rumors are true, I was recently accepted at Loyola)

I have my interview coming up and I'm SUPER nervous, it would be great if someone who has interviewed already could give some advice. I'd really appreciate it!!

Also, does anyone know how much numbers (GPA and MCAT) matter AFTER the interview. My stats aren't great and I really hope they don't waitlist/reject me after the interview b/c I'd be devastated.

Good luck to all those still waiting on an interview or have interviewed already =)

Just relax. Try to be yourself. I don't know how the interview at Rush is, but I thought I completely bombed another interview, and I ended up getting an acceptance from them. If you are being interviewed, it's because they see you as a potential candidate. Period. Highlight your strong points and have answers ready for any weaknesses which may be brought up. Also try to be as sincere as possible, it pretty obvious if you are giving them answers that you think they want to hear. Oh, and make sure you have questions for them. At every single interview I have been to, I have been asked if I had any questions for them. Ask anything that comes to mind.. about specific programs, student body, faculty, etc.

Thanks robrobbberts! You're right, I need to relax and just try my hardest. I hope things are going well for you

I have to disagree with a portion of this statement.

RamenNoodles: I wholeheartedly agree that you should be confident and be yourself during your interviews. Be enthusiastic and stay positive. HOWEVER, just because a program interviews you does not mean they necessarily like you at all. I was rejected within 2 weeks of interviewing at Rush. I was not an Illinois resident either, which I noticed the majority of Rush interviewees being. Nonetheless, best of luck and be confident!

I would have to disagree with Pewl. If a school is interviewing you they have to like you. They are not going to waste the time of their faculty and students to sit there and ask you questions if they do not like you. Rejections could be based upon an interview that went bad, applicants not showing an interest in the school and other factors which are realized on the final review. Maybe they looked at your application and interview and thought that you did not really want to go there and they should not waste a seat for you. For example a student who applies to all top 20 schools and then RUSH may not get accepted at RUSH unless they show a logical reason for wanting to attend.

Incorrect. Some schools do have interview and waitlist quotas. They have a tendency of choosing to interview a certain number of out of staters for "flavor." It sounds silly but I was on an admissions committee and got to see some of their thinking. I have some friends serving on the admissions committees at a few other schools. There is a similar trend of thinking at a few other schools as well. Another reason for having a quota like this is that schools will often base the number of interviews they send out upon previous years and the number of applicants they had to interview in order to fill their class. It's an imperfect science, really. Thus, quite often the interviews in March-May are essentially interviews for the bottom of the waitlist which will not see any action.

Also, schools will not know what other places you have applied to unless they ask you about it during your interview. They will, however, see where else you have been accepted.

Well, RamenNoodles already has an interview invite here and its nowhere close to March. I think that given an interview this early he has a great chance at this school.

Also, I see that you may have some inside information about the process, but its all very nerve racking and I find that most of us SDNers are especially neurotic. At this point the only thing that any applicant can do is remain calm and try to stay positive. Even though I see that your trying to help, telling people that they may be going to interview at a school that they may already be rejected for probably makes them lose hope and become increasingly nervous which does them no good. Once again I realize that your not trying to scare people, but I think it has that effect.

Anyways, RamenNoodles, try to stay positive, I am trying to do the same and having a lot of trouble doing it because I feel I bombed my first interview at another school I really want to go to. I suggest you stay calm, be confident and be honest at your interview, afterwards, drink a lot to pass the time as you wait to hear the decision.

and good luck:luck::luck::luck:

Hi Everyone,

I read this thread many times and thought I'd post my stats to give back.

I am in state, 3.5 science and 3.5 regular. 30 MCAT.

Application completed on 8/8/09.
Interview invite on 10/7/09.
Interview date is mid November.

Chicago6

I agree wholeheartedly. I apologize for contributing to the neuroticism. It's such an flawed process.

RamenNoodles, please stay confident. The whole quota BS doesn't apply to the vast majority of candidates. I, too, believe that interviewing this early is a great sign. Rush didn't work out for me so I may be exuding some resentment towards them, haha. Please stay positive and I wish you all the best of luck!

Anyone heard anything from Rush lately? I've heard nothing but silence since I have been complete in September... 😕
