I would love an interview invite to Stanford, but I highly doubt it given the late date and the fact that the school is out of my league. Does anybody know if they are still giving out interviews? The status page says they interview until April and invite until March, but I wonder if they have any dates left. I noticed several people have gotten pre-interview rejections and I haven't gotten one of those.

I think the dates left are slim. The admissions counselor told me they'd stop interviewing after the first week in April. If you haven't been rejected, it means you're still on deck to get an interview (probably...most likely in case a current invited student cancels).

they gave them out till early april last year and ended in mid april, but ending a week earlier this year, so im assuming 1-2 more rounds of invites, i think they send them on sat mornings, at least the last couple of times...

hey guys - I have an interview coming up here in a couple of weeks, and was wondering if they would accept a new letter of recommendation sent straight to them. its from my gap year activities. has anyone else done this?

Yes, I asked b/c my boss frequently is out of the country and they said it was fine to just email it directly (just ask the guy when you interview and he'll give you his email)

cool thanks

I know that no news seems to be good news from Staford at this point but if I haven't heard from them in forever, should I give the admissions office a little nudge?

yeah, whats up with that? has anyone who has been complete in october been rejected pre-interview? it seems like only pre october...

hey does anyone how regularly calls are coming? is it every friday? i know the projected wait is a month or so.

Yeah, it seems like they meet every Thursday and then calls go out on Friday (occasionally Thursday night)

yeah that makes sense; a friend of mine got a call last thursday

wow, looks like stanford is winding down then...two-week response times
if only med schools could do this throughout the year instead of just at the end 🙄

Yup...I think they actually have committee meetings every Thursday now...where they review candidates from two weeks prior. So if you don't get a call on the Thursday or Friday about two weeks after your interview (so 2 weeks, 3 days if you interview on a Monday for instance), then you're probably waitlisted.

Good luck guys! I'm in the waitlisted club, but I've decided to just keep bothering them once April comes around with updates/letters/etc. in order to try and get in. Last year about 50 students were accepted off it. The year before: 0. With a class size of 86 it is really hard to predict.

Considering Stanford interviews less than 500 people, and that probably about ~125 accepted outright, some others rejected post-interview, some waitlisted and withdrawn, the waitlist shouldn't be too gargantuan like it is at other schools. I'm trying to keep the hope.

wow two week review. that's pretty sweet. good luck with the waitlist!

I've seen a few people on mdapps who have been rejected (complete in November)...

...I was also complete in October... I hope no news is good news. Ugh.

I know a bunch of people who applied around the same time as me, and a lot of them have received their rejection letters.

i dont know the exact date, but it was the third week of february, and not that monday (2-15)

Damn that doesn't bode well for me; I interviewed 2nd week of February and my application was still "under review" as of yesterday. Probably they just said that then. In all likelihood it's been reviewed and the waitlist envelope are sitting in a mail truck somewhere.

oh nevermind then, lol. here's to hoping. 8 interviews --> 2 rejections, 6 waitlists, 2 more to hear from post interview. a third of them to "top 10" schools, applied to 28 schools. so yeah i need HOPE, lol

How does this happen? I assumed you'd be virtually guaranteed of an acceptance with 10 interviews... Have you ever done a mock interview? It might be worth it even if you do get in because it will help you improve for when residency comes around. Haha, not that you need my advice...

Looks like there is a long wait list at Stanford! Who decides how the wait list moves? Is there any ranking to the wait list? what happens if my Fafsa is already processed at some other school on the east coast? Can the loan be transferred? How can i locate the past statistics on the wait list at stanford?😍

Also complete in October?

my friend complete in Nov. just told me she just got a denial letter last monday, so yeahhh dunno what up with them. cuz yeah lots and lots of pple denied, but also a good number havent heard, surely we all cant get invites (hopefully most of us!)

sorry, man. i'm sure you'll get off (at least) 1 of them, though.

and heck even if you don't, michigan's a pretty solid option!

WL Stanford 🙁 3 down, 2 to go

relax, you're in at michigan 😛 while it would be nice to break into the top ten (same deal here, in at pitt and waiting on those feisty feisty schools) it's not the end of the world if we dont get into them. rooting for you all the way though! 👍

when did you interview?

Interviewed Feb. 9 or 10.

I have an interview in the first week of April. If I can find out how many are wait listed, how many are accepted, and the criteria of acceptance, I plan to go for the interview. It is quiet expensive to travel again to the west coast.
The wait list data must be made public. Stanford claims that they offer 180+ students, (86 seats) and 450+ are invited for the interview process. Does the wait list include the 180+? The data is confusing. Can some one (MII, MIII, or MIV) shed some light on this wait list issue. A generalized approach for the wait list process in lieu of particular example would be more beneficial for the rest of us.😴

on interview day i was told that they accept ~150 students outright and pull from the waitlist to fill the 86-seat class. so if you get put on the waitlist chances are not good, but its still possible

I got the "Official Fat Envelope" call from Dr. Garcia last night at 9PM CST. I interviewed on 02/19.

Good luck to everyone still waiting!

I've been complete since late September, and haven't heard anything... Maybe I'll get my rejection letter this week... or some miracle...

Yeah, this is making me nervous. No snail mail rejection (yet at least) but also no interview invite, yet they've had my app for months. So I'm thinking they must have reviewed me at least once by now, which is encouraging that I didn't get a swift rejection a while ago but also not too encouraging since I'm so far not visiting sunny California 😳

Congrats! Join the Stanford 2010 Accepted Students Facebook group to meet some of the coolest people who have joined said Facebook group!

Yeah, complete since Aug. 13.

Wonder what they're still looking at in my file...

perhaps. i can tell you, though, they aren't waiting around or spending much time working on the rejection letter if you not invited. its a poor excuse for a rejection letter. :luck: to you!

hmm see if 5-10 pple on here are posting no pre-interview rejection, i bet there are 100 or more without rejections, and there surely arent that many interview spots left...maybe 10-15? maybe less, ugh i should stop speculating...

I hope you are INcorrect!

Letter dated Mar 8, postmarked Mar 10, received today in the Bay Area.
This is a pre-interview rejection.
Good luck to you guys still waiting for interviews!:luck::luck::luck:

You said, that they accept 150 students outright! An absolutely correct statement. Hypothesis: These 150 students may be creme de la creme. They may have offers from Harvard, UCSF, Johns Hopkins, Wash U, Yale et. al.
Based on realistic probability data, a third of these 150, might not accept the offer, based on financial conditions, monetary packages offered, close proximity to home, offer from Harvard, Johns Hopkins etc., and various other reasons. This was explained to me by a friend of mine presently pursuing Ph.D in Statistics. If 86 seats are to be filled, 36 from wait list will have to be accepted. Based on this logic, my friend recommends that I must interview Stanford. I guess, I better listen to him and spend $ 700+ for this interview. I will get a chance to visit California again. A request to
AMCAS !!

Can they develop a program where I can line up all my interviews in one region. Cut my travel expenses down. This will definitely help the future generation.

I hear ya, although fate shined upon me this interview cycle. My interviews at Harvard, Boston, and Dartmouth were on Dec. 1st, 2nd&3rd, and 4th, respectively. Oh btw, I live in Cali, so that's why I was thankful to fly to the East Coast just once.

Lucky you ! ! ! ! 🙂

Where are you planning to spend the next four years?

I dunno yet, but I would *really really* like to go to Harvard HST MD, Stanford MD, or Northwestern's MSTP. Boston's MD/PhD is OK, but there is no stipend during the MD years and it's not as well known for research.
