2 days prior to your interview via email.

Ok, thank you!

[paranoia]

And just to confirm. We are supposed to call Cassandra Sooter the day before the interview, right?

Also, for those who signed up for the student host through the stanford website, how long did it take for them to reply back?

Nope. You don't have to call. Casandra Sooter doesn't even work there anymore...it's just an old automated email message they haven't updated.

I'd suggest emailing the host coordinators directly (I got a quicker response once I did that). Good luck!

rEjEcTeD... I guess this means my interview season is officially over! I was really hoping to at least have an interview out here. Oh well, now :xf: that UCSF financial aid delivers.

It's not as if you exactly have any dirth of acceptances at Top 10 schools haha.

Did anyone here interview before 1/14 and not heard back? I'm starting to become convinced my rejection was lost in the mail...

Anyone recently get an interview here? It seems they've been picking off people pre-interview lately, yet refrain from giving out more interview offers.

Yah, same goes for you as well, who knows... Thanks though. I figured getting into a CA school would be tough (and I would really like to get out there), and I'm happy to be both right and still have that chance anyway! Stanford has always been sort of a dream school for me, undergrad and med, so I'm disappointed even with other great options. Oh well, I guess I'll give it a third try come residency.

Good luck to everyone else!

Yup, same goes for me. Stanford had always been a dream for me too. Got rejected for undergrad and waiting anxiously for a post-interview answer....I do have other great options too..but Stanford would be a dream come true...

Has anyone asked or heard when second look weekend is scheduled.
Would love to go back. Good luck everyone!🙂

Judging from last year, it'll probably be the weekend of May 7-9th this year. Hoping I can get an acceptance so I can join in too! Past the two week mark now. Getting nervous.

Admissions had told some accepted students it would be April 9th & 10th. 1st year student that I talked with last night confirmed this.

Well, as expected, I got the thin envelope today... waitlisted. Oh well. Goodluck to all waiting!

Sorry to hear that Question. I think the waitlist here does move...and I expect to be in your position too soon. Good luck!

seems like calls go out Thursday night or Friday. Maybe you'll hear soon! :luck:

2.85 weeks! One more day and it'll be 3 weeks! :xf:

Haha. I'm 2.29 lol. Wow this is neurotic. On a happier note, I just won two free tickets to an advance movie screening tonight...so I hopefully won't be worrying about getting a call because I'll be watching Shutter Island for FREE.

Hi All. Got pre interview rejection letter a few days ago. Does anyone know the chances for getting an interview after writing a letter? and what to include in the letter , and the length? Thanks!!!

Uhhhhh....if you've been rejected there is a 0% chance. They don't accept letters before you've interviewed or been invited to interview...and they also don't do appeals (to the best of my knowledge).

I don't think your chances are good because they don't accept any updates pre-interview [it says so on their website]. However, it couldn't hurt at this point, so go for it! I would include reasons as to why you feel Stanford's mission statement (http://med.stanford.edu/md/) is applicable to you and how you'd make use of all Stanford's resources.

were any of you who have been rejected (if you are still reading this thread) complete after august?

crazy that no one has posted recently regarding interview invites. my friend said he/she has an interview in the next few weeks...that could mean March, I suppose! hopefully invitations are still going out :luck: been waiting since mid-August.

There have been some folks on mdapps that were complete in September than have been rejected.

My prediction: next batch of acceptances go out next Thursday the 25th.

So does anyone know if Stanford is still giving interviews? I haven't heard anything and have been complete since August. Also, I'm actually out here visiting for a couple weeks - is the "in the area" inquiry recommended?

This time last year Stanford was still handing out interviews (They went into late March I believe.), so if they are following the same schedule then yes they are still handing out interviews. I do remember someone saying though that they were shortening this years interview season compared to last years so if there are any interview spots open they are probably winding down. As far as in the area emails... there was some discussion about this earlier in this thread about them. If I recall correctly they just flat out didn't respond to in the area emails.

Yeah...when I was there, the admissions office told us that interviews might continue until April...but that they most likely would end in late March. Someone had asked if the first week of February was the last week of interviews (because many schools end interview season in February), which is how that came up in conversation. If the fact that second look weekend was moved from early May (last year) to early April this year (apparently), I wouldn't doubt this.

Well I guess we'll see when both you and Naijaba post after getting phone calls! 😉

Haha, but the real result is: ***WAITLISTED*** 🙁

Do they even reject post-interview? The letter seems to imply that they do. Does anybody have any idea how many people come off of the waitlist/is it ranked? Now I have to wait until June to find out. *super sad*

EDIT: Hey if anybody wants to know the letter was postmarked February 12, 2010, and I interviewed on January 29th (exactly 2 weeks).

🙁 Sorry, man.

I think they do reject post-interview (I believe that's what I was told on my interview day). A handful of people on SDN came off the waitlist last year, but I'm sure that's highly variable given that the class is so small.

Looking at the data, last year 172 students were accepted, and 86 enrolled. That means exactly 50% turned down their acceptance. Does anyone know how many people they admitted BEFORE the waitlist started moving?

Sorry to hear that. I guess interviewing is an honor in itself, so we should all be happy we got that far. I've passed my two week as well...and no phone call, so I'm assuming at this point that means I'm just waiting for the waitlist letter to reach the East Coast. I interviewed February 4th.

Le sigh. At least we're all in the same boat.

well some people have been called on Fridays and it's also possible that they only meet every other week (every other week meetings would make sense with the 2-4 week timeframe they predict).

then again, i'm probably just being hopelessly optimistic since i interviewed the same week you did

on a side note, how was shutter island?

which day did you interview? I'm guessing they said 2-4 weeks because they know it will take waitlist/reject letters some time to make it to through the mail. 🙁

And I had mixed feelings about shutter island, but it is beautifully shot and clearly Scorsese. I'd only see it once though. Don't think I could sit throught it again.

they seem to only call about acceptances on fridays
so today may be the day of reckoning 🙂

Hi I was wondering if any late applicants have heard anything from Stanford yet, say end of Oct., Nov.?

Woot REJECTED! Letter dated 2/5, postmarked 2/18. What a crappy rejection letter.

Suck it StanfUrd, may we win Big Game until the end of time. Go Bears! We've got the axe!

waitlisted as well...interviewed 1/20 and just got the letter yesterday... i was wondering the same thing as someone above. Do they reject post interview or is everyone just thrown on the waitlist if you're not accepted?..Been always a dream to go to stanford.....rejected undergrad + waitlist med...=[

Ha, pretty much my reaction when I got the axe from a certain ivy. Yay rivalries.
