I have a question: I want to use a fee waiver but don't know if I should send it before (and wait for approval) or along with the secondary application......
you dont need to send it, as long as you got the waiver before you submitted your primary they already know as its indicated there.

I also got a complete email within a day or two of submitting my secondary which was enough to put a smile on my face. NOW so me some love SB!

Gmail also classifies the secondary email as spam. Just found it today. Odd...

How did you guys approach the healthcare reform question from a politically neutral perspective? I'm not sure how/what to write. Discussing the reform is bound to invoke some political ideologies which I dont want to get into. And discussing a desire to go into medicine w/o mentioning the healthcare reform seems like evading the question. So what did you guys do?

yea i am working on that one too. i wasnt really going to get into politics and what i think and stuff. how much have people been writing? i know it says less than a page but i really dont feel like i need a page to answer some of these...

I did like about 1600 characters for each essay...like always you dont have to fill one page just because they said thats the max...why is it people feel the need to do this obsessively? lol.

Can anyone pls post the link to the secondary application? pls pls pls

How do I submit my secondary application fee?
I just submitted the secondary app, and then got to the two line confirmation message page that said thanks for submitting, but I was never redirected to a payment page.

Could someone help me out? Thanks

I you go to their website admissions page, it tells has a link which allows you to electronically submit your payment online. just go to the website!!

I deleted the secondary by error cause it was in my spam mail (yahoo). Hopefully they can

Do the mean Single spaced or double spaced when they say one page???

How do you access this application? I got an email telling me to complete the online app but there was no link and I can't find it on the website...

There's supposed to be a hyperlink on the words "Supplemental Application" in that email. If you don't have it, you should give them a call.

When I submitted the payment, it said indicated my "shipping address." Does this mean they're going to mail me an acceptance letter?
:luck::laugh:

How do you know if you have submitted your application? I clicked submit and paid the fee online, but somehow every time when I clicked the supplemental application page it still has my original "unsubmitted page". I clicked submit twice and nothing has changed. Do you guys know what is going on here? I don't want them to not receive my essays

You should be all done. Did you get that url with the tiny message that says something like "Thank you for submitting" or "Your application has been submitted"? If you clicked that button twice, they might actually now have two entries for you (depending upon how they designed their system). Seems like they're running on a pretty basic system, where all of your essays and such will just be dumped into a database when you click submit. So, no more clicking.😳 You should get a complete email soon, and, if not, then I would just call them.

Yay, just got an interview invite here.🙂 Submitted on 8/26, IS. You have to email to schedule an appointment, and they'll be interviewing Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays starting on Sept. 17. :luck: Goodluck.

does the receipt email "This will acknowledge receipt of your secondary application for the 2010 entering class." equal complete email? I emailed them and they told me that its been processed but i never got a complete email, i only got the above email.

That's the only email that I received. Mine also stated "Your file of application materials is now complete and has been sent to our Committee on Admissions for their review."

I got the "secondary received" email on 8/14 and never heard back from them. I placed a call today and the lady marked my file complete and sent me an email confirmation. I would suggest you call or else your file may languish for 2+ weeks like mine.

If I remember correctly the averages from MSAR (which I don't have in front of me so don't quote me on this) are around 31/32. Assuming you have pretty balanced scores (all 10s or something like that) I would definitly think you should be encouraged to apply especially if you are in state. Stonybrook seems to mostly accept in state, and really only accepts superstars from out of state.
Hope that helps

nope, i dont have a balanced score...(12,8,10🙁)
science gpa:3.9 overall: 3.8

any advice......

I am playing it safe and writing no more than 3/4 of a page single spaced (less for a couple of them). I figure admissions committees like personal statements that are to the point so it would be better to be short than to be long...

did they send you an email saying you got an interview? i dont recall there being a way to check status online or anything...

Yes, the invite was via email, as was scheduling of the interview itself. To my knowledge, there's no online status check or scheduling system.

Did anyone receive an interview invite from Stony Brook recently? This thread has been very silent. An interview offer from SB would be a godsend.👍

so the secondary states
"A supplementary application fee of $100 has been imposed by the State University of New York. Please use our on-line mechanism for payment. A request for a fee waiver must be accompanied by a recommendation from the financial aid officer at your school, or a copy of your AMCAS fee waiver."

But after clicking on "submit", the window switched to a white screen that simply read "Your Supplementary Application has been submitted.
Thank You", with no indication of where I go to pay the fee...😕
Does this mean my amcas waiver was applied automatically, or that I have to search for the said "online mechanism" myself in order to pay?

just cant resist the impulse to ask fellow sdn-ers for a solution before seeking it out on my own first. 🙄

Hardly call myself a superstar, and I'm about as far from NY as you can be (AZ). Guess sometimes, big things happen to little people.

For anyone who has interviewed here, did you get interviewed by both faculty and a student? Also, were there any oddball questions that you got asked?

what do u guys think about my chances with these stats:

3.53 CGPA
3.58 SGPA
32 O MCAT

Oh and I'm IS

Thanks! I am on for 10/30.

Does anyone know when it starts? They said they will email me a week prior about the schedule of the day but that it should be done by 2:30ish. I would like to know more than a week in advanced so I can plan transportation. I am contemplating whether to fly in the night before, sleep there, then fly back the next day or to just fly there early in the morning, and fly out later in the day.

JFK is about an hour flight from my home airport. (or should I fly into the local airport near campus?)

So many decisions.
