Did you guys get an email with your login and password information to check your status? The only email I got from them was an invitation to complete the secondary, and then a letter saying they had my secondary information. Is it a standard login, like AMCAS ID and birthday? Should I call to find out what mine is?

no email. your username and password are both your amcas ID

Does Downstate have a student hosting program? I can't seem to find it anywhere.

you guys should PM redrower. i met him at downstate yesterday and i'm pretty sure he stayed with a student host the night before.

p.s. it was a GREAT interview. very conversational. our tour guides were also pretty cool. the lunch sucked, but i guess you can't win 'em all 🙂 overall, i liked the school a lot!

Ditto on the lunch. It's funny, but it actually did stick out as an aggressively mediocre lunch. But, lunch did seem to be the worst thing about Downstate, so I feel like it's a great school.🙂

there should be no reason for any school in ny to offer ****ty lunch.

we should rank the schools by their interview lunch

Does anybody know the approx % of interviewed students that are offered acceptances?

when were you at downstate-- yesterday too?

and yeah, i think it's cool that the lunch was the worst part. i mean, besides that tiny little holding room they put us in for hours on end 🙄

What kind of lunch? Hot plate? Sandwich? Mcdonalds?

Downstate on Wednesday. Yeah, it said in the packet that the lunch was provided by the Alumni Group, which just made me shake my head. Alumni, you're doing it wrong! But really, I don't care so much about the bland sandwich and disconcertingly red apple plus all the excitement of bottled water and chips that taste only of potatoes.

But the holding pen, I totally forgot about that. It was like a tiny prison where you waited to be whisked away into the wilds of the campus. Just not conducive to keeping conversation going at all. Everything else was cool. Really great students, facilities, matched with an interviewer in my field. And good tuition for in-staters. 👍

meh, okay tuition for in-staters. i'm in state for NY but also for MA (it's true. don't get me started.) and umass' tuition is only 8,000 and change per year 😀

but yeah, crazy holding pen! one kid had his interview in the room attached to it. so we could hear everything. everything. we tried to keep the conversation going so we wouldn't be tempted to listen... whenever there was an awkward silence someone would be like "so i drink a lot of coffee..." it was mad weird. that poor kid.

yo that kid will be me

calling it right now, my room will be attached and everyone will be able to hear it. hopefully nothing shady happens 🙂 (i dont know how to type out any other smilies except the regular one so i overuse it)

Yeah, the interview thing happened to us too. We couldn't hear everything, but it was so, so awkward.

Well, if you have a better suggestion for NY state tuition, I would love to hear it! 😉

Interview next week, can't wait for the vaunted lunch.

Mine's in two weeks. Should've said I have special dietary conditions and made them get me some nice lunch...🙄

i actually have special dietary needs and my lunch was still not good

Ha, imagine that.
*hands out crappy ham sandwiches to everyone*
Lunch person: Oh you have special dietary needs, here's your special sandwich!
You: WTF, it's just the same sandwich without the ham!

seriously, though, in brooklyn that shiv doesn't happen. i had a really intense pre-wrapped kosher meal. :shudder:

This reminded me of that scene from Roadtrip... "I can't have sugar on my pancakes..."

Can someone post the link to the status check page. I could not find it perusing the website.

Curious too.

There is a hosting program, we just don't have many volunteers offering housing. You can e-mail Illana Levine and she can help you out.

Someone asked before about Number of acceptances - you can refer to the school selector spreadsheet for that, but it's usually double the amount of spots in the class, which is 180 - so they probably accept about 350 - 400 people total.

Just had my interview. This place is awesome! I loved it!👍

I have an interview in NY at another school (I'm OOS) in November--do you guys know/think this is the kind of school I could drop an email or call to let them know I'll be in the area then and see if they're planning to offer me an interview anytime soon? Is that bad practice in general? I appreciate any advice 🙂

they asked me for further information a month ago... but since i havent heard anything

does DS do silent rejections 🙁

It couldn't hurt, I guess.

Did anyone else NEVER get this email. I searched my spam box and all emails from Downstate and none had this info. I also never got the email saying my application is complete even though I called them and it is.

I didn't either and I'm complete. Weird.

Oh, they snail mail their decisions and no e-mail, FYI.

hey, for people who have gotten interviews, how far in the future were your interviews generally scheduled? thanks

They are afraid of technical difficulties resulting in massive acceptance emails. Err on the side of caution?

Could be just a matter of formality. When I interviewed at UF last year, they told us that they were switching to e-mails that year because apparently, applicants prefer expediency over formality. We were all like "no shiz".
