Upstate asks to list the science courses you've taken... for example, 6-8 credits of Bio
As a Bio major, I have taken many Bio courses... such as nutrition, anatomy, biochem, microbio, etc...
Should I list these Bio courses as well? Because I never took intro to Bio... i placed out because of my AP score
Should I list my AP Bio credit (It is shown on my transcript)
Upstate does not have any essays?

Once you get an invite, there are two essays that you have to turn in a week before your interview date.

Sorry for such a late response, but with moving and school starting I just got back to this now.

So I called and it looks like the essays are due 1 week before your interview date. If anyone else wants to confirm this, that'd be great. The lady I spoke to seemed to think I was silly for asking since it was "in the e-mail" but I thought it was just a tiny bit vague.

EDIT: Looks like mrmilad just confirmed that... lol

Anyways, the essay questions I received were these:
Question #1 - Identify four of your major interests and describe how these have shaped your character and will contribute to your success as a physician.
Question #2 - Mistakes often occur in Medicine. Please describe a mistake you have made, how you dealt with it and what you learned from it.

can I submit more than 2 required reference letters to SUNY Upstate?

I would think that an upper level bio course > AP credit to med schools. I definitely read somewhere on SDN that one school didn't accept the AP credit for a pre-req

Wow. Haven't checked this one in a while and like others, I have an interview invite sitting on my status page. I wonder how long it's been there? Do they EVER send out invite emails?? Scheduling it now..

I read your post then I checked mine, lol. Same thing happened to me. I guess they don't send out the actual invites by email.
 
Those who got interviews... when were you complete?

What does NOT ENTERED mean? I completed everything and paid on the 18th!?!?

It doesn't affect your application really, just click on "Fall 2010" and it'll tell you if you're complete.

The status boxes are empty but I received the complete email a while ago. I'm assuming I am fine then and they are just waiting for my second MCAT score like everyone else is (which just released hours ago).

submit: Aug 17th
status: incomplete; they are saying that they are waiting on recommendation but my recommendations were in last july. i called today and this really mean dude was like i just re-check everyone's app last weekend, if yours was complete then it should say complete and if it says incomplete then it wasn't complete. seriously they need to talk lil nicely
 
I assume if it says

Application Status: Decision Made

but I don't have an interview invitation at login it means the big R, rejection?
 
how come I don't have an "application status:" line on my page?
 
hi all, For those who did receive the 2 essays upon interview invite, anyone know how many characters/words they want for each essay? THANKS! Does not seem to say anywhere...

Ya I'm the same. I emailed them to be sure and they said that I am "all set" and that they will let me know when a decision to interview or reject me has been made. I assume we're in a holding pattern sort of status or under review when this is the case. But they did not confirm this. You can send them an email from that page or the page before. They seem very nice over email and respond within a few days.

Strange... I actually had a status line that said complete, but it disappeared this morning. Could this mean an interview invitation or rejection is coming?

My complete status line also disappeared ~2 weeks ago... but I haven't heard anything from them since... hmmm... 😕

Invite here. I was kind of shocked that they required 2 surprise essays after I confirmed my interview date...

Hey i have a question. Does anyone know if applying to the rural scholars program will make it harder for me to get accepted to Upstate? By that I mean, is it highly competetive? And if I was to apply, would I only be considered for that program or would I also be considered for the school itself even if I was rejected from the program. I don't want to ruin my chances of getting in at all in by applying for the program... Help? Thanks!
 
So, I submitted my application on the 8/13 and my status reads "Supplemental Load Process" still. Anyone else have that problem, and if so do you know what that means?
 
Pre-interivew HOLD. Does this mean they'll actually review mine later on?

Or is it rejected pretty much?

haha, I think we got the email at the same time. I got the hold message also, but unsure what it means.

i got it too...it says they will review u again, so i guess its better then rejection. But it says after all applicants have been reviewed...im guessing it means that we may pull a late interview say in dec or even later, but for now dont expect much. I could be wrong though idk
 
Just got it also. I don't think it bodes well. They will review our apps after ALL the applications are reviewed. You can imagine how far that will be, right?
If we're to estimate, it should be at least a month after the deadline...which is....

Put on hold as well. I take this as a rejection.
 
Hold as well. It was a long shot for me anyway.
 
I'm on pre-interview hold as well...I'm not sure why tho since my numbers are above their averages...maybe since I'm OOS.

hold for me too-thought i had a decent shot at an interview especially being in state. oh well all it takes is one🙂
