I don't know of anyone who got off pre-interview hold from Upstate. I know people who got off from hold from Albany, Penn State, George Washington. No matter how bitter it sounds - we are rejected!!!🙁

pre-interview hold club...

say what's up to your newest member!

when were you guys complete?

Just curious, how are you so sure pre-interview hold = rejection?

hold lol what aggravates me the most is i have an acquaintance who didnt have to take the mcat and got accepted early-assurance there. I have better grades than him let alone ECs.

Sadly, pre-interview holds in most cases are simply delayed rejections. If you check out the threads from last year, very few people came off the hold list.

Secondly, my friend who last year got off from hold from every school he was placed in the hold category except from Upstate.

I guess I shouldn't have made such a strong statement. But from my personal experiences, Upstate sends a mass rejection mail in december

Hold!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever, Downstate's better anyways.

oop pre-interview hold right here too!! do they actually reject anyone or do they just put everyone on hold till dec/jan/whenever their deadline is??

They prob hold everyone they will reject, and then on a cold cold day in Dec. they will throw a party in the admissions office themed "Rejected" and can the whole lot of us.

We'll all have acceptances by then and we can just tell them, "we don't give a ****."

Dude what are you talking about? I have had interviews at both places in the past two days (back-to-back) and I gotta tell you, Upstate will **** on Downstate any day. The only thing going for Downstate is that is in BK and you get a wide variety of cases . Aside that, Upstate is miles and miles ahead of Downstate. From the curriculum to the sheer number of hospitals in a small radius to the new Goliano Children's Hospital which is actually opening tomorrow, Upstate is on a different plane. They have a plethora of facilities and I have to add that the students are very, very friendly. Downstate students are also friendly but it seemed as though Upstate admits only those type of students. There's more but i feel sleepy so....you already know. Both places will give you a good education regardless but I think Upstate gets the upper hand here.

I need an invite here so I can compare myself.

wohoo, good to know, interviewing at Upstate next Tuesday!

Are you guys getting the hold status through email or just on the status page?

I'm on hold as well. I didn't know hold = rejection till I came across this thread. Sad day! 🙁

Just received an interview invite.... complete 8/11. 🙂

Interviewed at Upstate recently. During the orientation they mentioned that they have not taken people off of their "hold" list in 8 years. Not sure if that includes pre-interview hold. Good luck to all!

For those of you who have interviewed in the last couple of weeks, how were the interviews? Low-key or pretty high-stress?

damn rejection it is 🙁.

Anyone still have supplemental load process? Am I looking in the wrong place?

Also, did SUNY ask for 6 credits to be told about or 8? I just had a discrepancy that I noticed on my verified app and am wondering whether that might be the reason I haven't heard anything (submitted August 5)...

1) more conversational than an interview.
2) upstate has the friendliest administration and teaching faculty I've met.

interview invite!! So excited! I thought all was lost. First choice for program and esp location. THANK YOU GOD!

Interview invite via e-mail today! 😍
OOS, so i am very honored.

Oh wow.... what's the point of that? Why not just reject us, you kno rip the bandaid off already? Geeeeeez :scared:

obviously I'm also on hold

Upstate was really a great experience. The interview was so relaxed and my student interviewer was amazing.

Facilities are clean and look new actually. Students were all so nice, and the admissions seemed to be great as well.

The hospitals and clinical exposure seemed to be immense. There were about 5-7 hospitals or clinics within a single bloc and the new children's hospital was incredible.

Overall great experience! OOS here.

How much did you write for those extra 2 essays?

Thanks, I was complete a week after you, so I should hear something soon. Congrats on the interview btw!

As for the hold status, is this the school that hasn't taken anyone off of hold status in 8 years or is it Albany?

I could have misunderstood what the Admin told us, but I believe the 8 years stat refers to folks who had already been interviewed and were placed into the third tier of their four tier post-interview status assessment.

After the interview you are either

1) Accepted
2) High priority waitlist
3) Hold (*No one off this list in 8 years)
4) Denied

As for pre-interview holds, I really don't know.

Why is my login information no longer working? Anyone else having that problem?
