Are these the four clinical sites that the question asks about?

* Temple University Hospital (TUH)
* TUH-Episcopal Division, which provides primarily psychiatric care in a nearby but culturally distinct neighborhood of North Philadelphia
* Jeanes Hospital in suburban Northeast Philadelphia
* Fox Chase Cancer Center, adjacent to Jeanes Hospital

Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh, and Temple University Hospitals.

My status still says verified, anyone who submitted changed?

Should I be concerned that my status page says that they received my Committee Letter on June 2nd, but I know my school didn't even have my letter ready until the end of July...and AMCAS hasn't confirmed receipt of the Letter either?

From the site: "Four of these institutions: Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem, and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital in Pittsburgh."

So isn't it 4 + Temple University Hospitals = 5 to choose from?

That's what it looks like. But you only get rank the four I listed on the Temple secondary. Weird

I feel like these initial rankings aren't going to count for much. They probably just want us to do a little research on their sites so that we know about them. It's likely that a big Philly school like Temple has more than just 4 or 5 sites of rotations anyway.

Mine still says verified. Since they have my LORs already in the material section, I'm tempted to contact them to ask if something is missing.

Thanks guys! kinda like a half PS 🙂

is it better to have one big paragraph or break it down?! i know it doesnt really matter but still.. 😉

i'd call them and see what's up

Also under review. Now to cross the fingers and pray like I've never prayed before. lol

just checked right now -- under review!

i'm freaking out like no other. it really didn't hit me until right now. :scared:

Under Review as well. And it probably won't change until like August or September or something. Relax people.🙄

under review = complete? I have gotten like zero complete emails but i checked my status and it seems im complete at a lot of schools:scared:

I think, yes, we are complete here.

also random question, not just for this school but any school. they say they prefer a LOR from a pre med advisor/ committee, which I have. Is it poor form to submit additional letters if you think they are good and would help you out?? I don't want to be annoying, but I dont want all my good letters to go to waste.
fyi ive posted this on a couple threads but to no response so sorry if youre seeing this a million times

No it's not poor form at all. If they don't need/want to read them then they won't. My school requires 3 letters from professors in order to write their committee letter, then they automatically send the individual letters along with the committee letter as a packet, so my schools are getting 1 committee letter along with 4 individual letters. I think it can only help.

What is the nature of your special interest in Temple University School of Medicine? (Use the following space. There is no character limit.)
[They ask for your top choice for clinical campuses and want you to include why it's your top choice in this essay, too]

It does not say to include why you chose which clinical campus as your first choice? Or did I miss something??

anyone from PA can give a little info about the location of the 4 clinical sites?

also do you guys know which one is more dedicated to the underserved?!

thanks =)

Yeah my friend would be interested in this as well. Any ideas?

Since Temple is in the hood (i.e. North Philly), it is probably most dedicated to the underserved, followed by the Pittsburgh site (the only other city)...

The others have completely different populations. One is suburban/rural and the other is rural/rural! I forget which is which, but clearly I ranked these two last...

Hi I'm sorry I have a random question. When everyone writes the "why X school" essay or any other essays, do you keep referring to the school in its full name? for example, every time i want to mention temple, do i have to write "the temple university school of medicine" each time or can I shorten it to just call it "temple?" I know there is no character limit for the temple essay so it's not as big deal but it sounds very redundant if I have to write the full name each time. And especially when there is character limit, am I allowed to call schools JHU, Prizker, etc?

thanks!

The first time i use the name, I write the full name, afterwards i use a shorthand that the school uses. For example, id write University of California Davis, then afterwards id write UCD since thats the shorthand they use. Basically if its a shorthand the school itself uses in the secondary (GW, VCU, MCW, etc) id say its fine to use.

Yeah, perfectly reasonable. Or just indicate that you will be switching to an abbreviation.

Example:

Why would you like to attend Temple University School of Medicine?

I heart Temple University School of Medicine (TUSM). It would be sooo cool to attend TUSM because it will train me to be a kickass doctor. I also heart TUSM because I can feast on philly cheesesteaks.

the suburban one is St. Luke's and Danville is pretty small town/ruralish

when you submit new items via the website, is there a way of checking if it was successful?

I don't think so. I sumitted something new, and it just said submitted successfully or something. Then when I refreshed, the message was gone. You?

no secondary yet..do they screen? I'm oos..should I call?

I don't recall, but I don't think they screen. My friend got their secondary at I wanna say 3.1/30, for what its worth. No need to panic IMO, you'll get it. If you are below those numbers, then maybe call?

Argh...I should be verified this Friday. I'm getting impatient.

has anyone heard back after being complete?

Is anyone else 'under review'?
