I guess i should be happy that there is so much info on their website but its making me feel like im leaving something out! did you guys look everywhere before you answered the why temple question?!

I dont know? I didnt spend that much time with it. Focused on like 2 things then gave personal examples as to why those 2 things are interesting to me...then done. After writing like 26 2ndaries so far, i just focus on like 2 main points for near everything lol.

haha sounds a lot like me except instead of improving i feel like im repeating myself and then my brain freezes! 😉 it was funny everyone who helps me edit is like you are doing really well and working too hard and its enough i feel like they are getting tired towards the end too and the later secondaries turn out worst than the beginning ones 😱

i know what you mean, I honestly just dont care anymore. After you write so many of these things you are always going to repeat yourself and use similar topics:shrug:. I had only one secondary to do this week and im still not done, ive lost all motivation:laugh:
 
I've lost motivation too. Now I want interivews, not secondaries.



I bet, later on, I'm going to say I want acceptances, not interviews.:laugh:
 
I have also been "under review" for about a week now.

For the why Temple question, I picked ~4-5 things, I think.
 
did they ask for a picture? i didnt see it anywhere!!

and my status still says verified, how long did it take for your guys to get complete?!
 
does anyone know how long temple usually takes to review your secondary and get back to you on whether you're going to be interviewed? i heard they don't take that long ... but what is 'don't take that long' ... a month? less than a month?

does anyone know?

and yes this is relevant because I'm going out of the country in september and if I get a call before that stating they can interview me in september well ... there will be a problem. :/

You can often schools and inform them you will be unavailable for a specified period of time, and they will work accordingly. They understand applicants can't sit in one spot for the entire application year.
 
Hi all,

I'm just wondering when you guys submitted your AMCAS applications? I submitted on June 4th but still have yet to receive a secondary. I'm hoping it will be coming soon but I'm getting a little anxious.

wow i would've called after a week...just saying, hi have you released secondaries, not demanding one. who knows, it might have gone to your spam. and you've wasted all this time!

Yeah, I think most people from early June have received this one - then again, I only know a few students who applied that early.

I submitted mid-June adding only my state school, verified early July, resubmitted app with list of med schools (incl. Temple) 10 days ago, got Temple secondary the next day (9 days ago).

Basically, you should call them up, something definitely went wrong.
 
ok so i just checked and im "application under-review" here! i assume sometime in between i was complete? 😛

i clicked on the link that says what does this mean, getting all excited to find out more and it says "your application is under review in our office" or something like that! ummm thank you for the clarification :shrug: lolll

haha yup, they don't send an email that says you are moving into the under review status. and yeah, their clarifications rock!

Why is this called Temple University? Hinduism affiliated or something?

Also is anyone having difficulty playing Why Temple and Dean's Message video on the http://www.temple.edu/medicine/admissions/index.htm

I really want to see this video but it just won't play on my quicktime

On the Temple's FAQ site, it clearly states that they start sending out interview invitations in August
 
So I'm going to be starting a part time job...which is supposed to turn into a full time job once they get more money....but if it doesnt then I dont know if i'll be able to stay. In other words--my plans are for the coming year are up in the air.

I havent started the job yet and dont know exactly what my specific responsibilities will be (its research). I'm afraid to wait any longer to send in my application. How important is it to go into detail about my job? Can I just say I will be doing research at such and such about this and that? Should i add ideas about what else i might do? Like...i hope to travel blah blah? Thanks for the advice!
 
so i've been trying to research these four sites, but i can't really decide. the main difference i find is that TUH and Western Penn are in urban areas while Dansville is rural and St. Luke's is suburban-ish. how are we supposed to choose without actually going there and experiencing it?

just randomly choose crap, it doesnt matter and you wont know unless u are from the area, end of story. Base it on location if u want doesnt matter

thanks elijah! do you know why all these universities ask if you have relatives who went there or graduated from the SOM? do they get special attention or something???

Some schools do care and legacy can play a role...how large i have no idea and idk which schools it plays a role at. It can be important as it can show ties to the area, which some schools like. Personally I dont know why schools care as what your parents did doesnt really say a whole lot about what you will do but :shrug:. Also while I have not experienced this, you often hear the ivys like yale and such are huge on legacy.

Does anyone know what the next status will be? What is it if you get an interview, and what is it when you don't. I just want to know what to expect.

Welcome to the club:luck:. I have been under review for the past three weeks, so I don't think it means a decision is imminent. To my knowledge, no one has received and interview or rejection yet.

Do you live in a pyramid.
Can you speak the ancient egyptian language?
Do you warship cats?
Do you walk around naked everywhere?

Those are some of the questions I have encoutered. My mom is Egyptian.

We are legally considered, caucasion. Such bs.

Well, I know a few people that moved here from Egypt, and on all of their paper work it stated them as Caucasian. Also, if you look up the classical definition of Caucasian, it includes anyone from North Africa.

However, I completely disagree with this. I think that referring to myself as Caucasian on an application is misleading. But on the other hand, so is calling myself African American.

I really think there should be a Middle Eastern option, or something of the sort.

But hey, what do I know.
 
im still under review, but never really got a complete email. Do they send out complete emails? or under review pretty much means that anyway..
 
If your status is "under review" then you are definitley complete.

I don't remember there being a character limit, so you can discuss your situation in as much detail as needed. I don't see a problem here, just cuz you don't know your job responsibilities shouldn't be a reason for you to delay submission, just tell them that as of now you don't have all the info (and they're asking for your plans in general not your job description, so its no biggie). And yes, say what else you might do (that's the prompt). Hope i'm not too late.




On another note, I've been complete for a week and my status still says verified 😕
