Eh, it's stressful - but not that bad (especially if you match at your top or second choice school that day!). It helps people get in where they want. It's stressful, but kind of fun. 😉

When can we start ranking the schools? I went on TMDSAS but did not see any link for that.
Also, is it possible if you get matched to more than one schools?
Thanks,

Thanks,

after you've interviewed at more than one school you should be able to rank... (you only rank those that you've interviewed with)

but if the link isnt available yet, don't worry: the rank list isn't due until Jan 15 and they'll send you lots of reminders for it. (remember that it's a new website, so stuff that's far in the future may not be done yet.

no, not possible to get matched at more than one school.

Sounds pretty crappy to me! (the match)

well, that's what i thought when i first found out about it... but once you get used to the idea, you kinda realize that it's really to the students advantage and takes a lot of the anxiety out of of the process, because it prevents stale-mate after stale-mate of schools seat and you don't have to make any choices about committing to an acceptance, while still hoping for a future one from a different school, etc. Plus it means you have to wait less time to hear from schools!!! 😀

LOL, check out my posts per day. I think I should get some sort of special badge or something. "SDN's most unproductive member" or the like. 😴

 well i'll one-up you on personal-patheticness-that-needs-to-be-reevaluated: i'm actually really way-too-excited about getting my 5 year member badge next month! :hardy:

Thanks Maggie and Aggie for the responses. Match makes a little more sense to me now

if they invite you for interviews, they'll inform you by email. the email will then tell you to log in to Merlin, where you can choose/confirm an interview date. here is the website: https://www.ttuhsc.edu/Merlin/help/loggingin.aspx

I got an interview and never had a change of status, but I guess it doesn't hurt to check. Hope this helps.

I am interviewing on 11/13/09. Anyone else???

Hello,

I am a Undergraduate Finance major, who has been recently accepted into the Texas Tech HSC School of Medicine at Lubbock: MD/MBA dual degree program, and was wondering what graduates normally do with a degree in Health Organization Management. Does anyone know of someone accepted in this program as well?

can you explain how you got offered an acceptance before the pre-match?

There are 3 ways to get an offer before pre-match:
1. Out of State
2. Early Decision Program
3. Possibly - Joint Programs may find out early (Not sure on that one)

yes special programs as well
-MBA/MD, MD/PhD etc.

There was an OOS person who said something about not getting an acceptance yet- I just want to give you an encouraging word... I was OOS and I got my acceptance the same day they sent out the first batch of pre-match acceptances for IS students. I interviewed in early November.

Good luck guys- I know this is a long week preparing for pre-match offers but hang in there and no matter what the results are stay positive- I know a ton of people who got in through the match or even as late as the week before classes started!

Thanks for the encouraging words. It's definitely nerve-wrecking just having to wait now, but I'll wait as long as it takes to hear positive news! lol.

Hey I was wondering, do you think that applying for MD/MBA puts you in a different applicant pool at all? I applied for MD/MBA on a whim after I heard the program description at the interview. However, I don't think I got in. Do you think this affects the MD decision at all? I know they say it doesnt, but im wondering could it be a subliminal influence or something?

I believe everything you do on your interview day affects the MD decision whether subliminal or explicit. But if it has a positive or negative affect, that I do not know. I also applied when I heard about the program at the interview.

I might be mistaken, but I would think that it would give you an upper hand ... an almost doubled chance of getting in. If they decide not to accept you into the MD/MBA program, for whatever the reason, at least you still have the chance of getting into the MD program. Just my thoughs ...

As far as I understand, once they decide that you are good enough for MD acceptance, they will forward your application for MBA consideration. It probably does not affect overall acceptance chances.

When did you interview? Who was your interviewer for MBA part?

Yeah, I am worried that my applying to the MD/MBA program affected my overall application: i.e., if I dont get into the MBA program, they will just scrap me altogether. I really just thought it sounded cool and applied even though I did not have much business background (just an engineering major, which means minimal business experience). I was banking that engineering = math and spreadsheet skillls, which can turn into finance skills if given training.

I interviewed with dr. nix. He was great in the interview, really pleasant and reassuring. Just basically told my why no MD should ever touch money.

however, I never really filled out the application stuff listed on the business school website, just reallly did the interview and thats it. so im thinking i never really was even considered, as the business schol would not have had a personal statement or anything. I did email the TMDSAS people to change my app to Md/MBA

Anyway does tech sendout most prematch acceptances on the 15th exactly? or do they trickle in?

Most schools will send out a large set the 15th-ish and then one or two more groups of them at a couple of intervals between that day and Dec. 31st.

They tell you during orientation that your acceptance into the MD/MBA program is completely contingent upon whether you get into the MD program. This means that you first have to be accepted into the medical school and THEN you are considered for the MBA portion of it. So applying for the dual program doesn't hurt or help your chances of getting into medical school. This is what I understood from the orientation.

I was never able to get a for sure answer on if Tech pre-matches would go out today, Sunday or Monday....so hang tight everyone!! Good luck and don't get discouraged if you don't get in during pre-match time!! :luck::luck:

I GOT IN I GOT IN!!! I'M SO HAPPY! I would've never dreamed that I would get a pre-match offer. I had a great interview here, but with my stats I thought I was going through the match for sure.

Yay Yay! 😍

I'm in the same boat as well (turned in secondaries mid sept). But from what I've read about, the status will remain as "no status" until you receive an interview. I have a 3.3sGPA/3.5cGPA/33MCAT. What are your stats?

Status does not mean anything. I received an acceptance offer yesterday, and I still have "no status" message.

I recieved an acceptance yesterday as well...so excited! 😀

Do y'all know if they sent out all 300 of their acceptances on friday? Or just some of them? 🙁 i didnt get one.

More than likely they have all been sent out. Don't lose hope, a very large percentage of our class matched.

I have 3.7sGPA/3.75cGPA/32MCAT... guess texastech didn't like me... does anybody know the last day of interviews?

hey epinephrinerush... have you gotten any other interviews?

I sent them an email the other day, and well they said they haven't processed it yet... what's that supposed to mean?

Did you apply pretty late? If so it means they haven't reviewed your application yet.

No other interviews yet. How about you?

Interesting how they said they haven't touched your app yet. Since my secondaries were in around the same time yours were in, I hope mine hasn't been processed yet too. The whole time I was thinking that they processed mine already but put me to the bottom of the stack.

Can someone please explain this whole pre-match thing to me? I'm seriously confused. How many does each school send? And do they only pre-match those with really awesome stats?
